Dany Jimenez OAK RP
Athletics' Dany Jimenez: Sent to minors
7m agoThe Athletics optioned Jimenez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The right-hander began the season in a high-leverage role and didn't give up an earned run in his first five appearances, but he has a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9:8 K:BB over his past 10 innings. Six of those walks came in Jimenez's past four outings, and he'll head to Triple-A to work on his command.
-
Lazaro Armenteros OAK LF
Athletics' Lazaro Armenteros: Jettisoned from 40-man roster
8m agoArmenteros was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Armenteros was a lauded signee out of Cuba back in 2016 but has struggled to hit with any consistency since entering the A's organization. In his first taste of Triple-A Las Vegas this season, the 24-year-old has slashed only .133/.278/.250 with a 51.4 percent strikeout rate. Armenteros' removal from the 40-man roster clears space for Tyler Ferguson.
-
Matt Barnes WAS RP
Nationals' Matt Barnes: Removed from 40-man roster
2h agoBarnes was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Barnes made the team as a non-roster invitee but didn't pitch well, posting a 6.75 ERA and 10:4 K:BB across 13.1 frames. The veteran reliever will likely clear waivers and could decline a potential outright assignment and elect free agency if he wants.
-
Robert Garcia WAS RP
Nationals' Robert Garcia: Activated from injured list
2h agoThe Nationals activated Garcia (illness) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Garcia was down for a couple weeks with the flu but is ready to roll now after making just one rehab appearance. The 27-year-old has allowed six runs but has struck out 13 over 8.1 relief innings with the Nats this season.
-
Tommy Pham CHW CF
White Sox's Tommy Pham: Slugs second homer
2h agoPham went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday against the Rays.
Pham was the only source of offense for Chicago when he took Tyler Alexander deep for his second home run of the season. Since joining the White Sox on April 26, Pham has regularly hit second in the order and has at least one knock in seven of his 10 games.
-
Erasmo Ramirez TB RP
Rays' Erasmo Ramirez: Earns win in long relief
2h agoRamirez (2-0) walked one and struck out one across three scoreless innings to earn the win Monday against the White Sox.
Ramirez followed starter Tyler Alexander into the game in the fifth inning and turned in his second consecutive scoreless appearance. Ramirez has worked primarily in long relief since being recalled to the Rays on April 21, as he's completed at least two frames in four of his six outings. Despite limited strikeout upside -- he has eight punchouts across 11.1 innings of work -- he could be in position to earn more wins than a traditional reliever.
-
Luis Campusano SD C
Padres' Luis Campusano: Drives in three runs
13h agoCampusano went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in Monday's win over the Cubs.
Campusano capped off a six-run sixth inning for the Padres with his bases-clearing double. It would end up being the deciding factor in the victory. While he has just five hits over his last seven games, three of them went for extra bases, resulting in eight RBI over that span. Campusano is now slashing .274/.311/.407 with 11 extra-base knocks through 119 plate appearances this season.
-
Miguel Amaya CHC C
Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Getting Monday off
18h agoAmaya is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
Amaya will receive a breather after he drew starts behind the dish in each of the Cubs' last three games. Yan Gomes will handle the catching duties in Monday's series opener.
-
Francisco Alvarez NYM C
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Gets stitches removed
19h agoAlvarez had the stitches removed Monday from his surgically repaired left thumb, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Alvarez underwent surgery April 23 to address a torn UCL in the thumb on his glove hand. At the time his surgery was performed, the Mets estimated that Alvarez would need eight weeks to make a full recovery, so he appears unlikely to return from the injured list until around late June. A more precise target date for his return should come into focus once he resumes taking batting practice and performing defensive drills.
-
Ryan Jeffers MIN C
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Won't start Monday
20h agoJeffers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
Jeffers had started each of Minnesota's last three games -- two at catcher and one at designated hitter -- so his absence from the lineup Monday is likely just a rest day. Christian Vazquez will fill in behind the dish and will bat eighth.
-
Jake Rogers DET C
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Back on bench Monday
20h agoRogers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.
Rogers and Carson Kelly have now alternated turns behind the plate over Detroit's last eight games, with both backstops making four starts apiece. The timeshare arrangement will make it difficult to extract much fantasy value from Rogers, who is batting .179 with two home runs and five RBI over 22 games this season.
-
Logan O'Hoppe LAA C
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Back in lineup Monday
22h agoO'Hoppe (hand) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Monday's game in Pittsburgh, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
O'Hoppe exited Saturday's game against the Guardians after taking a foul tip off his right hand, but X-rays came back clean and he's ready to roll after resting Sunday. The young catcher is slashing .260/.317/.396 with two home runs over 29 games for the Angels this season.
-
Ezequiel Duran TEX 1B
Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Starts in left field
6h agoDuran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.
Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264).
-
Freddie Freeman LAD 1B
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes deep Monday
10h agoFreeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Marlins in Monday's 6-3 win.
Though his long ball didn't travel nearly as far, Freeman followed Shohei Ohtani in the first inning Monday as the pair slugged back-to-back homers. Freeman has yet to fully flex his power this season -- he has just three homers through 167 plate appearances -- but he's been otherwise productive, as usual, with a .292/.407/.445 slash line, 21 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base. The veteran first baseman is also tied for seventh in the league with 10 doubles and tied for fifth with 24 walks.
-
Bryce Harper PHI 1B
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Slugs another three-run homer
11h agoHarper went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run during Monday's 6-1 win over the Giants.
Harper tagged Mason Black for a three-run home run in the sixth inning, marking the first baseman's second straight game with a three-run shot. In his last 11 games, Harper is batting .250 with four homers and has showcased quality plate discipline, drawing 13 walks and striking out 11 times.
-
Jake Burger MIA 1B
Marlins' Jake Burger: Back from IL
17h agoBurger (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday's game against the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
As anticipated, Burger is back with the big club after missing the last few weeks rehabbing from a left intercostal strain. He was a big piece of the Marlins' offense before landing on the IL, recording three homers, 15 RBI and eight runs scored over his first 16 games of the 2024 season.
-
Pete Alonso NYM 1B
Mets' Pete Alonso: Getting first day off
20h agoAlonso is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
He'll take a seat for the first time all season after recently falling into a 1-for-28 drought at the plate that has brought his slash line down to .206/.295/.420. DJ Stewart will draw the start at first base Monday, but Alonso should be back in the lineup Tuesday.
-
Tyler Black MIL 1B
Brewers' Tyler Black: Filling bench role Monday
20h agoBlack is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
After being called up from Triple-A Nashville last Tuesday, Black worked in a reserve role for his MLB debut that day but proceeded to start at first base or designated hitter in each of the Brewers' subsequent four contests. Black went 2-for-15 with seven strikeouts over those four starts, but the Brewers will likely give him some more time to right the ship as an everyday player, at least against right-handed pitching. The lefty-hitting Black will hit the bench against Royals southpaw Cole Ragans on Monday.
-
Luis Garcia WAS 2B
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Dealing with sore wrist
2h agoGarcia jammed his wrist Sunday sliding into second base and was replaced by pinch-hitter Ildemaro Vargas in the eighth inning, but he's not expected to miss much time, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
The Nationals had an off day Monday, so Garcia might not end up missing a start, but it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Dave Martinez gave him an extra day to recover. Garcia has had a breakout season so far, slashing .337/.381/.510 with three homers and six steals in 105 plate appearances.
-
Michael Massey KC 2B
Royals' Michael Massey: Pops homer in win
12h agoMassey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Brewers.
Massey got the Royals on the board in the seventh inning. The second baseman continues to hit well after a brief stretch to get up to speed following his April 19 season debut. Massey has hit safely in nine straight games and has an extra-base hit in five of the last six contests. He's slashing .294/.308/.529 with three homers, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases through 53 plate appearances.
-
Nolan Gorman STL 2B
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Out against lefty
18h agoGorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
The Cardinals are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Sean Manaea) for the second day in a row, so the lefty-hitting Gorman will once again head to the bench. Jose Fermin will fill in for Gorman at second base.
-
Joey Wendle NYM 2B
Mets' Joey Wendle: Draws rare start
18h agoWendle will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Wendle will start for just the ninth time through the Mets' 35 games this season, handling second base while Jeff McNeil gets a look in left field. The 34-year-old will likely to continue seeing light use in his utility role unless the Mets lose one of their regular infielders to injury.
-
Brice Turang MIL 2B
Brewers' Brice Turang: Getting Monday off
20h agoTurang is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Turang -- who is tied for second in the majors with 14 stolen bases -- will hit the bench for just the third time all season in what looks to be a maintenance day. Joey Ortiz will fill in for Turang at the keystone and will bat second.
-
Nicky Lopez CHW 2B
White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Back in action Monday
20h agoLopez (adductor) will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Rays.
Lopez was held out of the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals with adductor soreness, but the injury was apparently just a minor concern. After serving as the White Sox's leadoff hitter in each of his last 12 starts, the lefty-hitting Lopez will drop the bottom of the order Monday, likely because Chicago is opposing a southpaw in Tyler Alexander.
-
Jose Ramirez CLE 3B
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Goes yard again
10h agoRamirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.
Ramirez provided the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, tagging Jack Flaherty for a solo homer. Ramirez has now generated a home run in back-to-back games but is still trying to dig his way out of a slump. In his last 10 appearances, Ramirez is 5-for-35 (.143) with five RBI, five runs scored and no multi-hit games.
-
Christopher Morel CHC 3B
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Goes deep, swipes bag
13h agoMorel went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer, a walk and a steal in Monday's loss to the Padres.
Morel put the Cubs on the board with his two-run shot in the sixth inning after snagging a steal earlier in the contest. He has five hits over his last five games and four of them have left the yard. The 24-year-old is slashing .220/.315/.449 with 12 extra-base hits (eight home runs), four stolen bases and 23 RBI through 35 games this season.
-
Jonah Bride MIA 3B
Marlins' Jonah Bride: Returns to Triple-A
17h agoBride was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
After being called up Saturday, Bride went 1-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 12-3 win over the Athletics. With Jake Burger (oblique) returning from the 10-day injured list Monday, Bride was the odd man out on the major-league roster and he'll head back to Jacksonville. The 28-year-old has produced a .349 batting average with seven homers, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored and a stolen base over 86 at-bats in 25 games at Triple-A this season.
-
Oliver Dunn MIL 3B
Brewers' Oliver Dunn: Back on bench Monday
19h agoDunn is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Dunn started at third base in each of the past four contests and went 5-for-13 with a triple, a walk, three runs and an RBI over that stretch. Despite the run of steady playing time of late, Dunn is still expected to move back into a utility role, as manager Pat Murphy noted Sunday that he wanted to give the rookie a more extended look after he had fallen out of favor in recent weeks. Dunn likely hit well enough to maintain his spot on the 26-man active roster for now, but Joey Ortiz still profiles as the Brewers' top option at the hot corner.
-
Jose Miranda MIN 3B
Twins' Jose Miranda: Retreating to bench Monday
20h agoMiranda is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
Miranda should be an indirect beneficiary from a playing-time standpoint while Byron Buxton (knee) is on the 10-day injured list, as Miranda had started at third base in each of the previous three games while Willi Castro moved to the outfield to help cover for Buxton's absence. However, Castro will draw the start at the hot corner Monday, opening up center field for Manuel Margot.
-
Gio Urshela DET 3B
Tigers' Gio Urshela: May begin rehab assignment this week
21h agoUrshela (hamstring) could join Triple-A Toledo this week to begin a rehab assignment, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Urshela remained with the Tigers for Monday's series opener in Cleveland and was spotted doing some pregame running on the field in what McCosky describes as a potential final test before the third baseman is cleared for a rehab assignment. Before landing on the 10-day injured list April 20, Urshela slashed .298/.310/.333 over 58 plate appearances with the Tigers.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: Turns tide with three-run homer
11h agoSeager went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in a 4-2 victory against Oakland.
Texas was down 2-0 heading into the eighth frame before Seager turned the team's fortunes around with a two-out, three-run blast to center field. It was a much-needed big moment for the star shortstop, as he came into the contest batting just .190 in May and .228 overall on the season. After slugging 33 homers and driving in 96 runs last year, Seager has just three homers and 13 RBI through 33 games in 2024. Monday marked the first time he has driven in multiple runs in a contest since Texas' second game of the season.
-
Jonathan Ornelas TEX SS
Rangers' Jonathan Ornelas: Promoted to majors
21h agoThe Rangers recalled Ornelas from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
He'll take the 26-man active roster spot vacated by Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Ornelas, 23, has posted a .720 OPS with two home runs and one stolen base at Round Rock this season, but the Rangers are bringing him aboard mainly for his capable glove in the middle infield. Though he's played exclusively at second base and shortstop this season, Ornelas also saw action at third base and center field in 2023.
-
Nick Ahmed SF SS
Giants' Nick Ahmed: Resting Monday
23h agoAhmed is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Ahmed will take a seat for the series finale, ending a stretch of six consecutive starts. Tyler Fitzgerald will step in as the Giants' starting shortstop Monday.
-
Edmundo Sosa PHI SS
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Heading to bench Monday
1d agoSosa is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Sosa started at shortstop in the Phillies' first two games after Trea Turner (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list, going 2-for-8 with a two RBI, one run and one stolen base. Though he could still end up serving as the primary option at shortstop during Turner's absence, Sosa will give way to Bryson Stott on Monday while Whit Merrifield fills in at Stott's usual spot at second base.
-
Geraldo Perdomo ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Could begin hitting this week
1d agoDiamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that he believes Perdomo (knee) will start hitting this week, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Perdomo has already started some baseball activity, including fielding grounders and throwing. A rehab assignment for the shortstop should follow his return to the batting cages, but a timeline for his return to MLB has not yet been established.
-
Francisco Lindor NYM SS
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Swats first-inning homer
2d agoLindor went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Rays.
Lindor got the Mets on the board right away, clubbing a two-run shot off Ryan Pepiot as the third batter of the game. The long ball was Lindor's sixth of the season and marked his third time logging multiple RBI in his last four games. During that stretch, the shortstop is 5-for-17 (.294) with eight RBI and four extra-base hits.
-
Lazaro Armenteros OAK LF
-
Tommy Pham CHW CF
White Sox's Tommy Pham: Slugs second homer
2h agoPham went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday against the Rays.
Pham was the only source of offense for Chicago when he took Tyler Alexander deep for his second home run of the season. Since joining the White Sox on April 26, Pham has regularly hit second in the order and has at least one knock in seven of his 10 games.
-
Drew Gilbert NYM CF
Mets' Drew Gilbert: Still in strengthening phase
3h agoGilbert remains without a clear timeline for his return from a hamstring strain, but the Mets are hoping he'll be back in the lineup for Triple-A Syracuse by late May or early June, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Senior vice president of player development Andy Green indicated Monday that Gilbert was still strengthening his hamstring, and a return date could come into focus once he begins a running progression. The 23-year-old outfielder hit .240 (6-for-25) through seven games before suffering the injury with a home run and a 2:10 BB:K.
-
Nick Gordon MIA LF
Marlins' Nick Gordon: Pops fifth homer
3h agoGordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.
The 28-year-old outfielder took Walker Buehler deep in the top of the second inning to briefly tie the game at 3-3, but Los Angeles took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Gordon has gone yard in back-to-back games and is up to five homers on the year in only 32 games -- a surprisingly power display for a player whose career high is nine home runs in 138 games, set in 2022. The rest of Gordon's numbers are far less impressive, and he's slashing .212/.244/.424 with nine runs, 16 RBI and only one steal in two attempts.
-
Jazz Chisholm MIA CF
Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Steals another base
10h agoChisholm went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.
Chisholm put his speed on display in the first inning, reaching on a leadoff infield single, swiping second base and coming around to score on a single. He finished with his second straight multi-hit game, and he's stolen three bases over that pair of contests. Chisholm's career high in stolen bases is 23 (set in 2021), and he's on pace to surpass that mark with eight thefts through 36 contests this season.
-
Teoscar Hernandez LAD RF
Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Homers again Monday
10h agoHernandez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 win against the Marlins.
Hernandez hit one of four Dodgers homers in the contest, smashing a 418-foot solo shot in the third inning. It was his second straight game with a long ball, and he's gone deep three times in his past four games. Hernandez is up to nine home runs and 26 RBI on the season while slashing .259/.325/.490 and adding 24 runs and three stolen bases.
-
Randy Vasquez SD SP
Padres' Randy Vasquez: Draws start Tuesday
3h agoVasquez is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
As was expected after he was promoted from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Vasquez will end up filling the rotation spot vacated by Joe Musgrove (elbow), who was moved to the 15-day injured list. Vasquez has previously made a pair of starts for the Padres this season, covering 7.2 innings between those outings while giving up eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits and three walks.
-
Noble Meyer MIA SP
Marlins' Noble Meyer: Fans career-high nine
3h agoMeyer gave up only one hit over five scoreless innings for Single-A Jupiter on Saturday, walking two batters and striking out a career-high nine.
Still only 19 years old, Meyer flashed the upside that made him a first-round pick in 2023. He's struggled with his control to begin his first full professional season, posting a 19:15 K:BB through 19 innings, but that's in part due to the Marlins having him work on his changeup -- per Alyssa Gomez of MLB.com, Meyer threw 15 changeups among his 85 pitches, but only one went for a strike. The right-hander has already improved his velocity from when he was drafted however, and he topped out at 96.2 mph with his two-seamer. Miami won't push Meyer too aggressively this year due to his age, but if his changeup becomes an effective third pitch to complement his fastball and slider, he could make a quick rise through the system beginning in 2025.
-
Jack Flaherty DET SP
Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Takes loss despite quality start
10h agoFlaherty (0-2) took the loss Monday against Cleveland, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.
Flaherty struggled with the Guardians' power, yielding three extra-base hits, including a solo homer in the sixth frame to Jose Ramirez. While the veteran righty has been an excellent source of strikeouts with 56 K's through 42 innings, he hasn't been as dominant in the run department but still owns a 3.86 ERA and has walked merely six batters. Flaherty will likely take the mound Sunday against the Astros for his next start.
-
Triston McKenzie CLE SP
Guardians' Triston McKenzie: Solid in no-decision
10h agoMcKenzie didn't factor into the decision Monday against Detroit, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.
McKenzie settled in nicely after allowing a solo home run to Riley Greene on his first pitch of the day, striking out three straight to close out the first and keeping the Tigers from adding on more runs. He's now allowed two or fewer runs and struck out at least six batters in four consecutive starts, bringing his ERA to 3.97 through 34 innings. However, McKenzie still appears to have the training wheels on after missing most of the 2023 season with elbow and shoulder injuries, as he's been kept under 85 pitches in five of his seven starts this year. McKenzie is tentatively scheduled to face the White Sox in Chicago on Saturday.
-
Roddery Munoz MIA SP
Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Knocked around by Dodgers
11h agoMunoz (1-1) took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out five batters over 4.2 innings.
Munoz pitched well in his first two major-league starts, giving up three earned runs and posting a 14:3 K:BB over 11 innings, but he was no match for one of the league's top offenses. The rookie right-hander was blasted for four homers in his first three innings and needed 104 pitches to make in through 4.2 frames. In addition to the long balls, Munoz struggled with his control, issuing a career-high four free passes -- more than he had allowed in his first two starts combined. With both Jesus Luzardo (elbow) and Braxton Garrett (shoulder) currently in the midst of minor-league rehab assignments, Munoz could lose his spot in the Marlins' rotation in short order.
-
Walker Buehler LAD SP
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Mixed results in season debut
11h agoBuehler allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.
Buehler had a favorable matchup in his first major-league start since mid-June of 2022, as he squared off against the team with the third-worst record in baseball. That didn't seem to matter early, though, as the Marlins jumped on the right-hander for a pair of first-inning runs on a trio of singles. However, Buehler's fastball velocity averaged a solid 96.6 mph in the frame, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which foreshadowed him settling down to allow just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Not surprisingly, the 29-year-old wasn't pushed too hard in his return to the majors, as he was pulled after 77 pitches and four frames rather than being allowed to complete the fifth and qualify for the win. Assuming Buehler comes out of the start without any setbacks, Monday's outing will likely serve as a foundation on which he can build up to a higher pitch count moving forward. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start on the road in San Diego this weekend.
-
Dany Jimenez OAK RP
Athletics' Dany Jimenez: Sent to minors
7m agoThe Athletics optioned Jimenez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The right-hander began the season in a high-leverage role and didn't give up an earned run in his first five appearances, but he has a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9:8 K:BB over his past 10 innings. Six of those walks came in Jimenez's past four outings, and he'll head to Triple-A to work on his command.
-
Matt Barnes WAS RP
-
Erasmo Ramirez TB RP
-
Nolan McLean NYM RP
Mets' Nolan McLean: Thriving on mound
2h agoMcLean has posted a 2.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB through 19 innings for High-A Brooklyn.
The 22-year-old right-hander hasn't allowed a run in four of his five outings to begin the year, with only a six-run stumble against Jersey Shore on April 17 marring his numbers. McLean is still being used as a two-way player and is DHing when he doesn't pitch, but he's been less impressive as a hitter, batting .220 (9-for-41) with a 3:22 BB:K -- although eight of his nine hits have gone for extra bases, including three homers. A third-round pick in 2023 out of Oklahoma State, Mclean may have to give up hitting as he moves up the ladder, but he may have a bright future on the mound.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Continues to destroy baseballs
11h agoOhtani went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two stolen bases Monday in a 6-3 victory versus Miami.
Fresh off being named the National League's Player of the Week after posting an absurd .524/.583/.952 slash line over his previous five games, Ohtani crushed a 441-foot, two-run homer in his first at-bat Monday to open the scoring for Los Angeles. He went on to notch his third straight multi-hit game and added a pair of steals for good measure, giving him four thefts over his past four games. It took Ohtani nine games as a Dodger before he hit his first long ball, but he's since gone deep 11 times -- including four times over his past three games -- to take over the major-league lead in that category. He's also tied for second in the majors with 31 runs, tied for sixth with 27 RBI and leads all of baseball with a 1.139 OPS. In addition, Ohtani has nine stolen bases, putting him on the verge of becoming the league's first player with double-digit homers and thefts this season.

11h agoSchwarber went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Monday's 6-1 win over San Francisco.

Harold Ramirez TB DH
Rays' Harold Ramirez: Collects four hits
14h agoRamirez went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI in Monday's win over the White Sox.
Ramirez garnered a start against the right-handed Mike Clevinger and made the most of it, tallying his first four-hit game of the season. The 29-year-old pushed his batting average to .286 (34-for-123) with the effort. However, starts against right-handed pitching may be become rarer for Ramirez as Josh Lowe (hamstring) returned from the injured list Monday to enter the mix for Rays outfield and designated hitter at-bats.

Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Won't start versus lefty
18h agoBurleson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
The lefty-hitting Burleson will remain on the bench for a second straight game while the Cardinals oppose another southpaw starting pitcher (Sean Manaea). Ivan Herrera will replace Burleson as St. Louis' designated hitter.

Matt Carpenter STL DH
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Moves rehab to Memphis
18h agoCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Carpenter (oblique) will shift his rehab assignment to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Carpenter kicked off his minor-league assignment with Double-A Springfield on Friday and appeared in two games over the weekend, going 1-for-6 with a walk, two runs and an RBI. The 38-year-old has been on the injured list since April 2 with a right oblique strain, but once he's activated, he could push Alec Burleson for the Cardinals' primary designated-hitter gig.

Patrick Wisdom CHC DH
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Not starting Monday
18h agoWisdom is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
Wisdom had served as the Cubs' designated hitter in three of the past four games, going 4-for-11 with a home run, a double, two two walks, two RBI, three runs and two stolen bases during that stretch. Christopher Morel will get a day out of the field and will be deployed at DH, but Wisdom could have a hold on a near-everyday role until Seiya Suzuki (oblique) returns from the injured list.
