  • Brewers' William Contreras: Belts big three-run blast

Contreras went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Saturday in a 4-2 victory versus Houston.

Contreras provided the biggest hit of the game with a three-run, fourth-inning homer that broke a 1-1 tie and sent Justin Verlander to the showers. The long ball was the backstop's second in his past three games and extended his current on-base streak to 25 contests. During that stretch, Contreras is batting .347 with three homers, 17 RBI, 22 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:16 BB:K.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Registers sixth save

Megill earned a save against the Astros on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out three baters over one inning.

Megill gave up a two-out single to Jake Meyers but was otherwise dominant, recording all three of his outs via strikeout. He threw 12 of 16 pitches for strikes and recorded his fifth save over five appearances in March. Megill appears to be locked in as Milwaukee's closer, as no other Brewer has notched a save this month.

  • Brewers' Bryse Wilson: Falls just short of five frames

Wilson allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Houston on Saturday.

Wilson was given a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but he was pulled after giving up a one-out solo homer to Jake Meyers and a two-out single to Jose Altuve. The hook eliminated the right-hander's chance to qualify for the win, and it marked the second straight outing in which he's failed to go five frames. Still, Wilson has given up a tolerable four runs across 8.2 innings during those two contests, and he's recorded a 2.79 ERA across 38.2 innings on the season.

  • Brewers' Devin Williams: Plays catch Saturday

Williams (back) played catch before Saturday's game against the Astros, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Saturday marks the first time Williams has done any sort of throwing since being shut down during spring training due to multiple stress fractures in his back. The 29-year-old closer still has a long way to go before the Brewers can think about sending him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he is certainly trending in the right direction. He's expected to rejoin Milwaukee's bullpen near the All-Star break.

  • Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Goes deep again

Ortiz went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a double in Friday's loss to Houston.

Ortiz knocked a double in the third inning before giving Milwaukee a short-lived lead with his three-run shot in the fourth. He was later caught stealing after a single during his otherwise terrific performance. He's gone 8-for-14 (.571) with two homers and three doubles over his last four games, and four of his five long balls this season have come in the last nine games. Ortiz owns an impressive .296/.397/.561 slash line with 14 extra-base hits, a 16:20 BB:K and 15 RBI through 116 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Coughs up five runs

Peralta (3-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against Houston.

All five runs against Peralta came on Houston home runs; Jake Meyers knocked a two-run shot in the second inning followed by Jeremy Pena's three-run blast in the fifth. Peralta forced 13 whiffs -- including seven with his slider -- and has generated double-digit swinging strikes in each of his nine starts this season. After beginning the year with a 1.90 ERA through 23.2 frames, he's posted an ugly 6.23 ERA over his last five outings. Peralta's next start is lined up to be in Miami next week.

  • Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Close to swinging bat

Mitchell (finger) is scheduled to swing a bat during the Brewers' upcoming road trip, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Manager Pat Murphy suggested Mitchell's increase in his activity level will likely occur while the team is in Boston from May 24-26. The outfielder could then begin a rehab assignment shortly after Milwaukee's series against the Red Sox. The speedy Mitchell has been on the injured list all season after suffering a fractured finger during spring training.

  • Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Begins rehab assignment

Wiemer (knee) went 1-for-3 with a run scored in his first rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Wiemer has been out since early May with a left knee strain but has made enough progress to test things out in a game setting. Because he hasn't missed much time, Wiemer's rehab assignment shouldn't last more than a few days.

  • Brewers' DL Hall: Poised for rehab assignment

Hall (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Wisconsin on Sunday.

Hall got through a two-inning simulated game Tuesday with no issues to clear the way for him to pitch in a rehab game. He's been sidelined for nearly a month with a left knee sprain, so Hall would figure to require at least a couple rehab outings before rejoining the Brewers' rotation.

  • Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Homers vs. Pittsburgh

Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Pirates.

Sanchez extended Milwaukee's lead to 10-2 in the third inning with a two-run blast off Martin Perez, his sixth long ball of the year. The 31-year-old Sanchez has gotten steady playing time against left-handed pitching, either spelling William Contreras behind the plate or at DH. Sanchez has swung the bat well recently, going 8-for-26 with three homers and a 1.033 OPS over his last eight games. Overall, he's slashing .243/.317/.527 with 13 RBI and 11 runs scored through 82 plate appearances this season.

After going 39 games without a long ball to start the season, Frelick has now homered in back-to-back games. The 24-year-old outfielder also logged his first multi-hit game since May 4, boosting his slash line to .257/.331/.354with 20 runs scored, 10 RBI and five steals across 160 plate appearances this year.

  • Brewers' Robert Gasser: Improves to 2-0

Gasser (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Pirates, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two.

Gasser was solid in his second big-league outing, allowing just one run in the third inning while the Brewers exploded for 10 runs in a convincing victory. The 24-year-old southpaw has allowed just one run through 11 innings in his first two starts after posting a 5.25 ERA in three outings with Triple-A Nashville. Gasser figures to stick in Milwaukee's rotation while DL Hall (knee) is sidelined. The former is currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start.

While Contreras had gone 18 games without a home run, he's now recorded at least one hit in nine straight contests, going 17-for-36 (.472) in that span. The 26-year-old catcher is now slashing a robust .359/.434/.553 with six homers, 34 RBI, 39 runs scored and three stolen bases through 196 plate appearances this season.
