  • Twins' Royce Lewis: Running before rehab assignment

Lewis (quad) did some light running on the field Tuesday and the Twins are ramping up his baserunning, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Per Park, Twins' head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta described the ramp-up as a big week of recovery for Lewis. The 24-year-old will do more aggressive change-of-direction stuff later this week that will give more insight to the timeline for his rehab assignment.

  • Twins' Justin Topa: Avoiding surgery

An MRI revealed Tuesday that Topa has a 25 percent tear in his left patellar tendon and will be immobilized for another week before trying to ramp up, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

After getting a second opinion on the injury, Topa decided to receive a PRP injection instead of undergoing surgery. He's currently on crutches and will be immobile for a week, but will attempt to ramp up afterward. Topa had felt discomfort in his knee during a three-inning rehab start on May 5 and was close to returning prior to the setback.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Rehab games required

Buxton (knee) will play in some minor-league rehab games before being activated, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reported Tuesday.

It was previously thought that Buxton could've been activated Tuesday; however, he'll get some minor league at-bats before being reinstated. The rehab stint should be rather brief, so fantasy managers can expect Buxton to be back within the next week.

  • Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Absent from lineup

Kirilloff is not in the lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the Yankees.

Kirilloff will begin this one on the bench as the Yankees send lefty Carlos Rodon to the hill. Austin Martin is getting the start in left field.

  • Twins' Trevor Larnach: Out against left-hander

Larnach is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Yankees.

Larnach hasn't started a game against a lefty this season and that streak will continue as the Yankees turn to southpaw Carlos Rodon on Tuesday. Ryan Jeffers will be the designated hitter while Christian Vazquez does the catching.

  • Twins' Edouard Julien: Sitting versus southpaw

Julien is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

With left-handed Carlos Rodon toeing the slab for the Yankees, the lefty-swinging Julien will yield to Kyle Farmer at second base. Julien has made just two starts versus southpaws this season.

  • Twins' Max Kepler: Sitting out Tuesday

Kepler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Yankees.

The left-handed hitting Kepler is swinging a red-hot bat but will take a seat in this one with the Yankees starting southpaw Carlos Rodon. Manuel Margot will patrol right field.

  • Twins' Caleb Baragar: Inks MiLB deal with Twins

Baragar signed a minor-league contract with Minnesota on Monday.

Baragar will report to Triple-A St. Paul after putting to paper on a minor-league deal. He's looked sharp so far this season in the Atlantic League, posting a 2.25 ERA with 18 strikeouts over 16 innings of work.

  • Twins' Gabriel Gonzalez: Goes on High-A injured list

High-A Cedar Rapids placed Gonzalez on its 7-day injured list Wednesday with a low-back strain, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Gonzalez hadn't played since May 1 due to the injury before Cedar Rapids elected to deactivate him. The 20-year-old outfielder, who was acquired in the January deal that sent infielder Jorge Polanco to Seattle, is hitting .265 with a home run and two stolen bases across 73 plate appearances for Cedar Rapids on the season.

Buxton (knee) ran the bases at Target Field on Saturday, and the Twins are optimistic he can be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The Twins have an off day Monday, but it sounds like Buxton will return when the team begins a series at home Tuesday against the Yankees. Buxton will run again Tuesday to test his knee before the game.

  • Twins' Edouard Julien: Two hits, swipes bag Sunday

Julien went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Julien led the game off with a single and added another base knock in the top of the eighth, stealing second base and scoring on an RBI double by Max Kepler in the frame. The stolen base was his fifth of the season and third over the last four games. Julien is now batting .224 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, 21 runs scored and five stolen bases over 125 at-bats in 40 games this year.

  • Twins' Carlos Santana: Stays hot Sunday

Santana went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Santana took Toronto's starter Alek Manoah deep for a three-run shot in the top of the seventh inning, breaking a 0-0 tie. The homer was his seventh of the season, and he has now gone deep in three consecutive contests. Since May 5, Santana has gone 9-for-23 with three home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored over eight games.

  • Twins' Bailey Ober: Electric versus Blue Jays

Ober (4-1) earned the win after he pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out 10 batters in Sunday's 5-1 victory over Toronto.

Ober was nearly perfect Sunday, allowing just a single to Vladimir Guerrero in the bottom of the fourth inning, while his 10 punchouts were a season high. The right-hander has now recorded four quality starts over eight outings this season. Since allowing eight runs against the Royals in his season debut, Ober has produced a 2.16 ERA with 44 strikeouts over 41.2 innings in his last seven starts. He'll look to keep it going when he returns to the mound for his next projected start Saturday in Cleveland.

  • Twins' Jose Miranda: Heading to bench Sunday

Miranda is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Willi Castro will get the nod at third base Sunday, but Miranda had manned the hot corner each of the past five games while going 5-for-18 with two doubles and a walk. Until Byron Buxton (knee) returns from the injured list, Castro should see most of his starts in the outfield, creating an opening for Miranda to carve out at least semi-regular playing time at third base.

  • Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Getting breather Sunday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Jeffers looks to be getting a rest in the series finale after he started in each of the Twins' previous three games while going 2-for-11 with a pair of home runs and one walk. Christian Vazquez will spell Jeffers behind the dish.

  • Twins' Edouard Julien: On base three times in loss

Julien went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays.

The 25-year-old Canadian put together a solid performance in Toronto as the Twins' leadoff hitter. The multi-hit performance was Julien's first since April 27, snapping a slump that had seen him hit just .097 (3-for-31) over the prior 12 games, while the steal was his fourth of the season, establishing a new career high after he swiped three in 109 games last year as a rookie.

  • Twins' Carlos Santana: Goes yard again Saturday

Santana went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays.
