Brewers' Jake Bauers: Belts grand slam
Bauers went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Monday's loss to the Pirates.
Bauers cut Pittsburgh's lead to 7-6 with his eighth-inning grand slam but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. He now has four home runs this season and two in his last four appearances. He's gone 8-for-22 (.364) with nine RBI so far in May. Bauers owns a .244/.326/.476 slash line with 10 extra-base hits and 21 RBI this season.

Brewers' Colin Rea: Loses despite quality start
Rea (3-1) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Pirates.
Rea was greeted with a two-run homer by Jack Suwinski in the first inning but held the Pirates to just one run over his next five frames. It was Rea's third quality start of the year but he was handed his first loss. He also generated a season-high 12 whiffs, including five via the splitter. Rea has produced a 3.45 ERA with a 30:13 K:BB through eight starts. His next outing is lined up to be in Houston this weekend.

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Headed for MRI
Hoskins will undergo an MRI on his hamstring Tuesday morning, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hoskins left Monday's series opener with a hamstring injury, but the severity of the issue remains unclear. Milwaukee should have a better idea of his availability going forward after reviewing Hoskins' test results.

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Lifted early vs. Pirates
Hoskins left Monday's game against Pittsburgh after suffering a hamstring injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hoskins appeared to tweak something in the bottom of the second inning after singling to right field, and he was immediately removed from the matchup. He's headed to the clubhouse for further evaluation and will be considered day-to-day until more information comes to light.

Brewers' Blake Perkins: Heads to bench amid slump
Perkins is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
Perkins will head to the bench after he went 0-for-10 with four strikeouts while starting each of the final three games of the Brewers' weekend series with the Cardinals in center field. The 27-year-old is slashing just .111/.179/.222 through 10 games in May, and his ongoing struggles at the dish may start to cost him some playing time. Jackson Chourio will move back into a starting role in the outfield Monday at Perkins' expense.

Brewers' Janson Junk: Optioned to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Junk to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Junk's latest stint in the majors lasted just a few days and he didn't make an appearance. Joel Payamps is back from the bereavement list to absorb Junk's roster spot.

Brewers' Joel Payamps: Back from bereavement list
The Brewers activated Payamps (personal) from the bereavement list Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Payamps missed the last three games but will rejoin the rotation for the start of Milwaukee's series against the Pirates. He seems to have fallen behind Trevor Megill in the Brewers' bullpen hierarchy but could still find himself in the mix for saves.

Brewers' Chris Roller: Returns from IL
Triple-A Nashville reinstated Roller (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Roller has gone 2-for-12 with two doubles, one walk, one RBI and two runs in his first three games back in action for Nashville. He was sidelined for just under a month due to the unspecified injury.

Brewers' Bryse Wilson: Struggles with command
Wilson allowed two runs on five hits and five walks over four-plus innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out one in the loss to St. Louis.
Wilson walked home a run in the second inning but managed to hold the Cardinals to one run through four frames. He was knocked out of the contest after coughing up a home run to Paul Goldschmidt and a double to Alec Burleson to begin the fifth inning. Wilson has produced a shaky 16:13 K:BB over his last four starts but owns a 2.21 ERA during that span. He's produced a 2.65 ERA through 34 innings this season. Wilson's currently projected to start in Houston next weekend.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Gets another turn through rotation
Gasser is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Pirates at American Family Field.
The Brewers will keep Gasser in the rotation as their No. 5 starter over Tobias Myers, who was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday. That same day, Gasser made his MLB debut against the Cardinals and breezed through six scoreless innings while striking out four and allowing just two hits and zero walks. His numbers in three starts at Nashville (5.25 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 12 innings) should give fantasy managers some pause in expecting Gasser to repeat the success of his MLB debut, but he'll at least make for an intriguing streaming option while facing off against a weak Pittsburgh offense that had posted a 70 wRC+ in nine May games heading into Sunday.

Brewers' Taylor Clarke: Ready for rehab assignment
Clarke (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Nashville, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Clarke is ready for his first game action of the regular season after he suffered a meniscus injury late in spring training that ultimately required surgery. The right-hander has seemingly avoided any snags in the recovery process, prompting the Brewers to clear him for what will likely be a lengthy rehab assignment as he looks to build back up following the prolonged shutdown. The reliever is targeting a return from the 15-day injured list in late May.

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Hitting bench Sunday
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Frelick will get his first day off of May after he had started in each of the Brewers' last 10 games while slashing .176/.243/.235. Despite his recent struggles, Frelick still appears to be ahead of Jackson Chourio on the depth chart in the Milwaukee outfield. Chourio will fill in for Frelick in right field Sunday, but Chourio had been on the bench for each of the previous four games.

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Heads to bench Sunday
Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Bauers is on the bench for the series finale, but after producing a .400/.571/.900 slash line with two stolen bases while starting in each of the past four games, he may have moved back into a near-everyday role. Jackson Chourio -- who had been benched for the past four games -- will rejoin the starting nine and replace Bauers in the corner outfield.

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Records fourth steal
Bauers went 1-for-2 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals.
Bauers got plunked by St. Louis starter Kyle Gibson in the third inning to force in the first run of the game. After losing playing time to Tyler Black earlier in the month, Bauers has gotten in the lineup for four straight games, going 4-for-10 with three walks, two steals, four RBI and three runs in that span. The 28-year-old is likely to remain in a strong-side platoon role with most of his playing time coming in the corner outfield. He's up to a .231/.318/.436 slash line through 88 plate appearances on the season.
