Jose Altuve HOU 2B
Astros' Jose Altuve: Goes deep, swipes bag
6m agoAltuve went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, three runs scored, a walk and a steal in Sunday's win over Colorado.
Altuve singled and scored in the first inning after swiping third base. He then drilled a solo shot in the third. The star infielder had been in a short slump recently, going 6-for-30 (.200) with one extra-base hit over his previous seven games. Still, he's sporting a strong .342/.414/.596 slash line with four steals, 15 extra-base hits and 21 runs scored through 28 games.
-
Zack Littell TB SP
Rays' Zack Littell: Quality start in loss
7m agoLittell (1-2) picked up a loss after he pitched six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out six batters in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the White Sox.
Littell opened the game with three scoreless innings before Chicago scratched across a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, including an RBI single by Danny Mendick, which gave the White Sox a 2-1 lead. Littell was able to return to form and pitch two more scoreless frames before exiting after the sixth, securing his first quality start since March 30. The 28-year-old will carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Mets.
-
Camilo Doval SF RP
Giants' Camilo Doval: Escapes with save
11m agoDoval allowed a run on two hits and a walk in one inning of work Sunday. He did not record a strikeout but picked up a save against the Pirates.
Doval retired the first two batters he faced before letting three straight Pirates reach base. He forced Joey Bart into a game-ended groundout to finish off the 3-2 win. Doval has converted all five of his save chances while registering a 3.38 ERA through 10.2 frames. Sunday was his first save since April 23 against the Mets.
-
Keaton Winn SF SP
Giants' Keaton Winn: Wins again Sunday
13m agoWinn (3-3) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out five and picking up a win over the Pirates.
Winn fired four shutout frames before coughing up a run on an RBI groundout in the fifth. He's allowed exactly one run over six innings in three consecutive starts, earning a win in each. Winn has registered a terrific 1.96 ERA with a 21:6 K:BB over his last 23 innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.18. He's currently lined up for a start in Philadelphia next weekend.
-
Jared Jones PIT SP
Pirates' Jared Jones: Stumbles in San Francisco
18m agoJones (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Giants.
All three runs against Jones scored during a disastrous third inning. He gave up five hits in the frame, including solo homers by Thairo Estrada and Mike Yastrzemski to start things off. Jones' historic strikeout pace slowed down as he forced only seven swinging strikes in the subpar outing. As impressive as the right-handed rookie has been, he's been tagged with seven homers through his first six starts. He'll carry a 3.18 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against the Rockies.
-
Eloy Jimenez CHW DH
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Stays hot against Tampa Bay
21m agoJimenez went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Rays.
Jimenez was able to single and then come around to score on an RBI single by Robbie Grossman in the bottom of the fourth. He later added two more base knocks in the contest, notching his second straight multi-hit performance and his fourth in the last nine games. Over that stretch, Jimenez has batted .351 with three home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored, three walks and a stolen base over 37 at-bats.
-
Luis Campusano SD C
Padres' Luis Campusano: Not starting Sunday
4h agoCampusano is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Campusano has a .907 OPS with four doubles in his past seven contests and will sit Sunday after starting the previous three games. Kyle Higashioka will step in behind the plate to catch for Michael King in the series finale versus the Phillies.
-
Cal Raleigh SEA C
Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Receives breather Sunday
5h agoRaleigh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Raleigh started the past three days after missing one contest due to dental procedure, and he'll sit Sunday with it being a day game after a night game. Seby Zavala is starting behind the plate to catch for righty Logan Gilbert.
-
Gabriel Moreno ARI C
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Receives Sunday off
5h agoMoreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Seattle.
Moreno started the first two games of the series but will receive a breather in Sunday's finale. Tucker Barnhart is starting at catcher and batting eighth.
-
Tyler Stephenson CIN C
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Sitting Sunday
6h agoStephenson (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Texas.
Manager David Bell said Stephenson's removal from Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch on the hand was precautionary, but the backstop will still take at least one day to recover. Luke Maile is working behind the plate in the series finale versus the Rangers.
-
Korey Lee CHW C
White Sox's Korey Lee: Back in action Sunday
6h agoLee will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Rays.
Lee was on the bench for both of the White Sox's previous two games while Martin Maldonado handled the catching duties. After Maldonado ended his stretch of wretched production at the plate by blasting a three-run home run and adding a single in Friday's 9-4 win, he was rewarded with another start in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning win but went 0-for-2 with a walk. Maldonado is now holding down a lowly .304 OPS on the season -- well below Lee's .774 OPS in 47 plate appearances -- so expect the non-contending White Sox to lean on the younger and better-performing Lee their preferred option behind the dish.
-
Ben Rortvedt TB C
Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Resting for day game
6h agoRortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The lefty-hitting Rortvedt looks to have secured the large side of a platoon at catcher with the righty-hitting Rene Pinto, but Rortvedt will give way to Pinto against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde as Tampa Bay wraps up its series in Chicago. Rortvedt's absence from the lineup is likely just for maintenance purposes in the day game, as he caught all 10 innings of Saturday's 8-7 loss while going 3-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs.
-
Jonathan Singleton HOU 1B
Astros' Jon Singleton: Hits bench in second straight
5h agoSingleton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies in Mexico City, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The lefty-hitting Singleton seems to have moved into the strong side of a platoon at first base of late with the struggling Jose Abreu, though Abreu got the start in Saturday's 12-4 win against Rockies right-hander Paul Quantrill. After going 2-for-5 with two RBI in the win, Abreu will stick in the lineup Sunday against southpaw Austin Gomber. It's unclear if the Astros plan to bring Singleton back in the starting nine the next time they face off against a righty.
-
Christian Encarnacion-Strand CIN 1B
Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Gets day off
5h agoEncarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Encarnacion-Strand will head to the bench in what looks to be a routine maintenance day after he had started in each of the Reds' last eight games. Spencer Steer will get a day out of the outfield and fill in at first base for Encarnacion-Strand, who has seen his season-long batting average dip below the Mendoza Line (.196) while going 1-for-14 with five strikeouts over his last four starts.
-
Yandy Diaz TB 1B
Rays' Yandy Diaz: Back in action Sunday
7h agoDiaz (finger) is starting at first base and batting leadoff Sunday against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 32-year-old sat out Saturday after being hit by a pitch in the left pinky finger Friday, but he'll rejoin the starting nine after missing just one game. Diaz is hitting .324 in his past nine contests, though he's slugging just .378 during that stretch and has not hit a home run since Opening Day.
-
Andrew Vaughn CHW 1B
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Not in Sunday's lineup
7h agoVaughn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Vaughn started the past six games but will head to the bench Sunday after going 5-for-24 during that stretch. Gavin Sheets will shift to first base while Robbie Grossman starts in right field.
-
Rhys Hoskins MIL 1B
Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Heads to bench Sunday
7h agoHoskins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Yankees.
Hoskins started the previous 15 games but will receive Sunday off after he posted a .799 OPS during that span. Gary Sanchez will bat fifth as Milwaukee's designated hitter in the series finale against New York.
-
Vinnie Pasquantino KC 1B
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Takes seat Sunday
8h agoPasquantino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
With the Royals wrapping up their series with a day game and with ace lefty Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, Kansas City manager Matt Quatraro likely felt that it was an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Pasquantino a game off. Pasquantino had started in each of the Royals' last 14 games and had gone hitless over the past five contests.
-
Jose Altuve HOU 2B
-
Edouard Julien MIN 2B
Twins' Edouard Julien: Rests against lefty
5h agoJulien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
The lefty-hitting Julien will retreat to the bench with southpaw Reid Detmers on the hill for the Angels. Kyle Farmer will step in for Julien at second base.
-
Brendan Rodgers COL 2B
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Out of lineup Sunday
5h agoRodgers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros in Mexico City.
Rodgers will hit the bench for the series finale after he had started in each of the Rockies' last seven games while going 7-for-24 with a home run, four walks, four RBI and two runs. Alan Trejo will cover the keystone Sunday while Rodgers sits.
-
Santiago Espinal CIN 2B
Reds' Santiago Espinal: Streak of 11 straight starts ends
5h agoEspinal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Thanks to both Jonathan Indian and Jake Fraley recently missing multiple games due to illness, Espinal has held down a regular spot in the Cincinnati infield. He started each of the last 11 games, going 7-for-34 (.206 average) with a home run and a stolen base. Now that India and Fraley are both back to full strength, Espinal is expected to move into more of a part-time role.
-
Vidal Brujan MIA 2B
Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Draws third straight start
7h agoBrujan will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Brujan will make his third consecutive start at third base and appears set to get an extended look at the position while Jake Burger (oblique) is on the injured list. Over 33 plate appearances this season, Brujan has hit .200 with zero home runs or stolen bases, one RBI and three runs. His fantasy appeal could remain largely limited to NL-only leagues for the duration of Burger's absence.
-
Luis Garcia WAS 2B
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Moves to bench Sunday
7h agoGarcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
With southpaw Ryan Weathers on the hill for Miami, the lefty-hitting Garcia will hit the bench for the first time since April 14 while Ildemaro Vargas steps in at second base. While manning the keystone for each of the last 11 games, Garcia went 11-for-42 (.262 average) with one home run, four stolen bases, five RBI and one run.
-
Jordan Westburg BAL 3B
Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Sits with illness
2h agoOrioles manager Brandon Hyde said Westburg was unavailable against the A's on Sunday due to a stomach bug, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
The illness brought an end to a streak of 16 straight starts for Westburg, who has a .304/.360/.543 slash line through 25 games this season. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the Yankees.
-
Christopher Morel CHC 3B
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Good to go Sunday
3h agoMorel (hip) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Sunday against the Red Sox.
The 24-year-old collided with Alexander Canario after making a running catch in the outfield Saturday but is apparently no worse for wear. Morel had a 1-for-32 slump over nine contests in mid-May, but his bat has come alive over his past six games with a .781 OPS.
-
Miguel Sano LAA 3B
Angels' Miguel Sano: Not in Sunday's lineup
4h agoSano (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
Sano is dealing with inflammation in his left knee and will sit Sunday for the second straight game, and he also exited Wednesday's and Friday's contests due to soreness. Mike Trout will receive a turn at designated hitter while Aaron Hicks starts in center field.
-
Josh H. Smith TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Smith: Not in Sunday's lineup
6h agoSmith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Reds.
Smith has been surprisingly productive this season with an .852 OPS through 27 games, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's contest. Davis Wendzel will step in at the hot corner and bat seventh.
-
Maikel Garcia KC 3B
Royals' Maikel Garcia: One steal, two RBI in loss
6h agoGarcia went 2-for-5 with two RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Tigers.
Garcia struggled in the middle of April, but he's now logged four multi-hit efforts over his last five games. He's added three steals and five RBI in that span while continuing to sit atop the Royals' order. The third baseman is slashing .222/.277/.380 with four home runs, seven steals, 20 RBI and 13 runs scored over 27 contests this season.
-
Bobby Dalbec BOS 3B
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Bat shows life in win
8h agoDalbec went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 17-0 win over the Cubs.
Dalbec's bat, like many others in the lineup, came alive in the blowout win. His season-opening struggles are epic -- zero hits in his first 19 at-bats and one in the first 32 -- but the corner infielder now has a four-game hit streak (5-for-15). However it's too late save his job as the team's primary fill-in at first base while Triston Casas (ribs, 60-day IL) is sidelined. The Red Sox acquired Garrett Cooper from the Cubs on Saturday, and he is expected to get the bulk of the starts at first base until Casas is ready. Cooper is expected to be activated in time for Tuesday's series opener against the Giants.
-
Nick Ahmed SF SS
Giants' Nick Ahmed: On bench Sunday
4h agoAhmed is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Ahmed started the previous 12 games but will take a seat Sunday after he posted a .616 OPS during that stretch. Tyler Fitzgerald will receive a start at shortstop and bat ninth.
-
Blaze Alexander ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Takes seat Sunday
5h agoAlexander is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Alexander has gone 9-for-24 with five doubles, a homer, nine RBI and four runs over his past seven games, but he'll head to the bench Sunday. Kevin Newman will start at shortstop in the series finale at Seattle.
-
Oneil Cruz PIT SS
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Returns to lineup Sunday
5h agoCruz (ankle) is starting at shortstop and batting third Sunday against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Cruz was held out of the lineup Saturday after he tweaked his ankle in Friday's series opener, but he's back in the starting nine Sunday. The 25-year-old is without a home run since April 13 and has a .205/.286/.250 slash line and 38.8 percent strikeout rate during that 13-game stretch.
-
Jose Caballero TB SS
Rays' Jose Caballero: Out of Sunday's lineup
6h agoCaballero is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Caballero will head to the bench Sunday after he posted a .217/.250/.370 slash line and 26.5 percent strikeout rate while starting the previous 12 games. Amed Rosario will shift to shortstop and bat third.
-
Paul DeJong CHW SS
White Sox's Paul DeJong: Out of Sunday's lineup
7h agoDeJong is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus Tampa Bay.
DeJong started the previous six contests but will take a seat Sunday after he went 3-for-22 with 11 strikeouts during that stretch. Braden Shewmake will start at shortstop and bat ninth.
-
Kevin McGonigle DET SS
Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Returns from IL
8h agoSingle-A Lakeland reinstated McGonigle (hamstring) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday, with the infielder going 5-for-11 with two doubles, three walks, two runs, two RBI and three stolen bases in four games since returning to the lineup.
McGonigle missed about two weeks of action to begin the season while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but the injury hasn't inhibited since he made his return less than a week ago.
-
Adolis Garcia TEX RF
Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Goes deep in win
1h agoGarcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
Garcia opened up the scoring in Sunday's contest, taking Andrew Abbott deep for a two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, driving in teammate Nathaniel Lowe in the process. The long-ball was his eighth of the season and third in his last six contests. The outfielder is now batting .291 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 19 runs scored and four stolen bases over 103 at-bats in 28 games this season.
-
Jack Suwinski PIT LF
Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Out of Sunday's lineup
4h agoSuwinski is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Suwinski will typically sit against left-handed pitchers, but he's on the bench Sunday as righty Keaton Winn takes the mound for San Francisco. Connor Joe will receive a start in right field and bat cleanup.
-
Dylan Moore SEA LF
Mariners' Dylan Moore: Checks out of starting nine
5h agoMoore is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
After starting each of the past four games at shortstop while producing three hits and adding two stolen bases and one run over 12 at-bats, Moore will give way to Leonardo Rivas in the series finale. Moore should still see the bulk of the starts at shortstop for the duration of J.P. Crawford's (oblique) stay on the injured list.
-
Luke Raley SEA RF
Mariners' Luke Raley: Draws third straight start
5h agoRaley will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Raley had started both of the last two games in left field, but he'll head over to right field in the series finale while Mitch Haniger gets the day off. Haniger appears to be entrenched as the Mariners' preferred right fielder, but the playing time in left field seems to be tilting in Raley's favor of late. Both Raley and Clase are likely to eventually lose out on opportunities in the Seattle outfield once Dominic Canzone (shoulder) returns from the injured list.
-
Mitch Haniger SEA RF
Mariners' Mitch Haniger: Out of Sunday's lineup
5h agoHaniger is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Diamondbacks.
Haniger started the past five games but will receive a day off after he went 2-for-18 with a double, a homer and five RBI during that span. Luke Raley will start in right field Sunday for Seattle.
-
Trevor Larnach MIN LF
Twins' Trevor Larnach: Takes seat against lefty
5h agoLarnach is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Larnach has moved into a semi-regular role in the outfield or at designated hitter since Max Kepler returned from the injured list Monday, but both left-handed hitters will find themselves out of the lineup Sunday while southpaw Reid Detmers toes the rubber for the Angels. The Twins will run out an outfield of Austin Martin, Byron Buxton and Manuel Margot from left to right, while catcher Ryan Jeffers gets a day off behind the plate and serves as Minnesota's DH.
-
Zack Littell TB SP
-
Keaton Winn SF SP
-
Garrett Whitlock BOS SP
Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: No mound progression yet
37m agoWhitlock (oblique) has not thrown off a mound yet in his recovery, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Whitlock has been on the 15-day injured list with an oblique injury since April 17, but he doesn't appear to be nearing a return quite yet. Manager Alex Cora said Sunday that the right-hander is "feeling better" but he "still feels it" in regards to his left oblique strain, barring the 27-year-old from progressing with any mound work. Chase Anderson was asked to start Thursday against the Guardians and with Whitlock still unavailable, Anderson could stay in the rotation for the time being.
-
Erick Fedde CHW SP
White Sox's Erick Fedde: Pitches into ninth versus Tampa Bay
45m agoFedde (2-0) earned the win after he pitched 8.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out nine batters in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Rays.
Fedde tossed three scoreless innings before he surrendered a solo homer to Isaac Paredes in the top of the fourth frame. He later allowed another run in the top of the ninth when attempting to finish off the complete game, exiting with a runner on second and one out in the final inning. The 31-year-old has now recorded back-to-back quality starts while he's given up just three total runs over 22 innings in his last three outings. Fedde will carry a 2.60 ERA into his next projected start Friday in St. Louis.
-
Andrew Abbott CIN SP
Reds' Andrew Abbott: Struggles early against Texas
1h agoAbbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.
Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles.
-
Camilo Doval SF RP
Giants' Camilo Doval: Escapes with save
11m agoDoval allowed a run on two hits and a walk in one inning of work Sunday. He did not record a strikeout but picked up a save against the Pirates.
Doval retired the first two batters he faced before letting three straight Pirates reach base. He forced Joey Bart into a game-ended groundout to finish off the 3-2 win. Doval has converted all five of his save chances while registering a 3.38 ERA through 10.2 frames. Sunday was his first save since April 23 against the Mets.
-
Jordan Leasure CHW RP
White Sox's Jordan Leasure: Snags first career save
28m agoLeasure earned a save after he pitched two-thirds of an inning, retiring both batters he faced in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Rays.
Leasure entered the game with one out in the top of the ninth and a runner on second base, setting down both Austin Shenton and Curtis Mead on six total pitches to finish the contest. The save was his first of his major-league career and he has now produced a 1.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with seven strikeouts over 11.1 innings in 12 appearances this season. With Michael Kopech operating as Chicago's primary closer, Leasure can be considered an ascending option at set-up man.
-
Kirby Yates TEX RP
Rangers' Kirby Yates: Remains spotless, grabs fifth save
1h agoYates earned a save after he pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out a batter in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
Yates was called upon to protect the team's 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, working around a pair of baserunners to secure his fifth save of the season. The right-hander has now gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season while he has pitched 12 scoreless frames over his first 11 appearances in 2024. On top of the spotless ERA, Yates also owns a sparkling 0.50 WHIP with a 10.50 K/9 and he appears to be locked in as the Rangers' closer moving forward.
-
Jason Foley DET RP
Tigers' Jason Foley: Earns league-leading ninth save
2h agoFoley allowed one hit and one walk over one scoreless frame to earn the save Sunday against the Royals. He struck out two.
Foley kept things interesting by allowing the first two batters to reach, but induced a ground out followed by two strikeouts to join four others with his league-leading ninth save in as many opportunities. The Tigers' closer lowered his ERA to 1.38 with a 1.23 WHIP and 13 strikeouts across 13 innings.
-
Craig Kimbrel BAL RP
Orioles' Craig Kimbrel: Managing back tightness
2h agoOrioles manager Brandon Hyde said Kimbrel was removed from Sunday's game against the A's due upper-back tightness, though the skipper isn't sure if the injury will be an ongoing issue, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Kimbrel suffered his second straight blown save Sunday as he allowed a walk and a two-run homer to the only two batters he faced before he exited with the injury. The 35-year-old will continue to be evaluated over the next couple of days, and it remains to be seen if a trip to the injured list will be necessary.
-
Luke Little CHC RP
Cubs' Luke Little: Sent to Triple-A
2h agoThe Cubs optioned Little to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Little surrendered five runs over two-thirds of an inning Saturday and will be demoted in favor of some fresh arms. Daniel Palencia and Richard Lovelady are joining the Cubs as Jordan Wicks (forearm) heads to the injured list.
-
Eloy Jimenez CHW DH
-
Wyatt Langford TEX DH
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Secures first major-league homer
2h agoLangford went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
Langford entered Sunday homerless through his first 26 major-league contests, but that came to an end in quite the unique fashion. With one on and two out in the top of the first, the outfielder launched a high fly-ball to right center field, which ricocheted off the wall and rolled away from right fielder Jake Fraley, allowing Langford to round the bases for an inside-the-park home run. The homer was his first as a big leaguer and he's now batting .248 with 11 RBI, 13 runs and a stolen base over 101 at-bats in 27 games this season.

Jorge Soler SF DH
Giants' Jorge Soler: Slugs homer in loss
6h agoSoler went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.
Soler's 10th-inning blast got the Giants within a run again, but the comeback effort fell short. He went 0-for-12 with one walk and six strikeouts over the previous three games. Soler's power is at an acceptable level (five homers, .414 slugging percentage) through 28 games, but he's batting just .222 with a .736 OPS, well under his .250 average and .853 OPS from last season.

Estevan Florial CLE DH
Guardians' Estevan Florial: On bench against righty
8h agoFlorial is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
The lefty-hitting Florial finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games, with two of those absences coming against right-handed pitching. Florial appeared to have recently supplanted Ramon Laureano for a regular spot in the lineup as the Guardians' top option at designated hitter, but manager Stephen Vogt looks like he may just prefer to have a number of different players rotate at that spot.
