Pasquantino is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Angels. With the Angels sending southpaw Patrick Sandoval to the mound Sunday, the lefty-hitting Pasquantino will get the series finale off. Pasquantino has gone 13-for-36 with one home run and 11 RBI since May 1, and he is up to a .248/.329/.445 slash line over 161 plate appearances this season. Salvador Perez will start at first base Sunday in Pasquantino's stead.... See More ... See Less

Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Homer, three RBI in win
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels. Pasquantino jumped on a hanging four-seamer with two outs in the top of the third inning and crushed it into the stands for his fifth home run of the season, and his first this month. The first baseman would also add a sacrifice fly in the contest, marking the third time in his last five games in which he's tallied multiple RBI. Pasquantino is on an absolute tear right now, registering three multi-hit games in a row with at least one extra-base hit in each of those performances. He's batting .429 (12-for-28) in May with 11 RBI, six runs scored and six extra-base hits.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Three hits, three RBI
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, a two-run double and a run during Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers. Pasquantino gave the Royals the lead in the fifth inning, plating Kyle Isbel and Bobby Witt on a double off Colin Rea. He came around to score in that same inning when Salvador Perez notched a double himself. The outing marked Pasquantino's third game this season driving in at least three runs, moving him up to 21 RBI on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Takes seat Sunday
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. With the Royals wrapping up their series with a day game and with ace lefty Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, Kansas City manager Matt Quatraro likely felt that it was an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Pasquantino a game off. Pasquantino had started in each of the Royals' last 14 games and had gone hitless over the past five contests.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Belts fourth homer
Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a home run and scored three times during Friday's win over the Orioles. Pasquantino's fourth-inning shot put the Royals ahead 1-0, and he drew a walk in the sixth to help spark a five-run inning that would keep Kansas City in front for the remainder of the game. The 26-year-old first baseman is slashing an incredible .481/.559/1.111 with four homers and 11 RBI during his seven-game hitting streak.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Smashes third homer
Pasquantino went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's win over the White Sox. Pasquantino went deep for the second straight game, crushing a 421-foot solo shot off Nick Nastrini in the fourth inning. The Royals first baseman is riding a five-game hit streak over which he has gone 9-for-21 with three home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored. Pasquantino has used the hot stretch to significantly boost his season slash line, which stands at .255/.344/.473 over 64 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Hits homer for lone run in loss
Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mets. Pasquantino was the only Royal to get on base multiple times in the low-scoring loss. He got Kansas City on the board with a ninth-inning homer, his second long ball in four games. After an ice-cold start to the season, he's gone 8-for-15 with nine RBI over his last four contests. Pasquantino remains the Royals' top option at first base, though he could also lose some at-bats versus left-handed pitchers if Nick Loftin sees more time at first once Michael Massey (back) joins the competition for playing time at second base.... Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Resting Saturday
Pasquantino isn't in the Royals' lineup Saturday against the Mets. Pasquantino will get a day off after tallying seven hits in 12 at-bats alongside eight RBI across his last three games. Salvador Perez will fill the void at first base, allowing Freddy Fermin to start behind the plate and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Knocks in three more runs
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 13-3 win over the Astros. Pasquantino's slow start has been the cloud looming over an otherwise excellent first two weeks of the campaign for the Royals. He's making up for lost time now with six hits and eight RBI over his last two contests, a span that also includes all three of his extra-base hits on the year. He's still hitting .222 with a .641 OPS, but the first baseman's recent performances show why the Royals stuck with him through the early slump. Pasquantino should continue to handle a near-everyday role between first base and designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Emerges with five-RBI effort
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, a walk, two total runs and five total RBI in Wednesday's 11-2 victory against Houston. Pasquantino had been essentially invisible coming into Wednesday, slashing a miserable .108/.214/.108 without an extra-base hit or an RBI through 10 games. The first baseman finally made some noise in the thumping of the Astros, producing his first multi-hit performance of the season while knocking in nearly half of the Royals' 11 runs. Fantasy managers who roster Pasquantino will undoubtedly hope that the big effort will get him going, and there's reason to believe that his slow start prior to Wednesday wasn't entirely due to being lost at the plate, as he had recorded an unsustainably low .125 BABIP while walking as many times (five) as he had struck out.... Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Getting first day off
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. The 26-year-old will get his first day off of the 2024 season while Salvador Perez steps in for him at first base. After his 2023 campaign was cut short in June due to surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Pasquantino was fully cleared ahead of spring training but has struggled out of the gate to begin the campaign. Through nine games, Pasquantino is slashing .121/.216/.121 with no extra-base hits and a 13.5 percent strikeout rate over 37 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Starting Cactus League opener
Pasquantino (shoulder) is starting at first base and batting second in Friday's Cactus League game against the Rangers. The 26-year-old underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last June but is ready to go to kick off the spring schedule. Pasquantino posted an .833 OPS in 72 contests as a rookie in 2022, but the shoulder injury limited him to just 61 games last season.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Taking batting practice
Pasquantino (shoulder) took batting practice last week before position players officially reported to the Royals' camp, Jaylon Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports. Pasquantino underwent right shoulder surgery in June, but it appears he's on a fairly normal progression this spring. Assuming he can get through the Cactus League slate without trouble, he should be the Royals' primary first baseman in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Pasquantino underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Pasquantino was diagnosed with the season-ending labrum tear a couple weeks ago. He is aiming to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 campaign, though there probably won't be a clearer picture on his overall recovery timetable until the winter months. The 25-year-old first baseman finishes at a .247/.324/.437 slash line with nine homers and 26 RBI over 61 games in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Shifts to 60-day IL
Kansas City transferred Pasquantino (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Sunday. Pasquantino will miss the rest of the 2023 season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, so this is just a procedural move that clears room on the 40-man roster. The Royals used that created room to select the contract of Matt Beaty from Triple-A Omaha.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Needs surgery, done for season
The Royals announced Wednesday that Pasquantino (shoulder) will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season. The 25-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list last weekend with right shoulder discomfort before follow-up tests revealed a more serious injury. Pasquantino will inevitably be moved to 60-day IL in the near future, which will open a spot on the 40-man roster. He finishes his 2023 season having produced a .247 batting average with nine home runs, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored over 259 plate appearances in 61 games.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Exits with right shoulder injury
Pasquantino left Friday's game against the Orioles with right shoulder discomfort, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports. He went 0-for-3 before exiting. Pasquantino was replaced by Matt Duffy at first base. It's likely Pasquantino will likely undergo further testing on the shoulder to determine the severity of the injury, but at this point the 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day.... See More ... Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Swats ninth homer, fans thrice
Pasquantino went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Monday in a 10-inning loss to the Tigers. Pasquantino plated the first runs of the contest for Kansas City with a 424-foot, two-run shot to right field in the first inning. The first baseman struggled from there, however, striking out three times in his remaining four plate appearances. That extended an uncharacteristic four-game stretch in which Pasquantino has struck out seven times over 16 at-bats. Prior to that span, he had fanned just seven times over his previous 24 games, a 97-at-bat sample.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Breather Sunday
Pasquantino is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus the White Sox. Pasquantino will get a breather as he continues to struggle at the plate, batting just .088 with a homer and two RBI with five strikeouts over his last 34 at-bats in nine games since May 11. Bobby Witt will start at designated hitter while Matt Duffy enters the lineup at third base and bats ninth in the series finale with Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Crushes homer
Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Padres. Pasquantino helped knock Yu Darvish out of the game with a two-run shot in the sixth inning. The first baseman has delivered some power to the Royals lineup. He has eight homers in 193 plate appearances after posting 10 big flies in 298 plate appearances last season. Pasquantino has been excellent in multiple categories with 21 runs and 21 RBI this season.... See More ... See Less
