Lee is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Guardians. Lee will begin Saturday's game in the dugout while Martin Maldonado gets the start at catcher and bats ninth against Cleveland right-hander Triston McKenzie. Lee went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored Friday, and the 25-year-old is 7-for-18 with two home runs and four RBI over five games in May.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Korey Lee: Keeps flashing power
Lee went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored Friday against the Guardians. Lee took Carlos Carrasco deep in the seventh inning to tally his fourth home run of the season, three of which have come in his last 11 games. He's gone 11-for-33 in that span, also chipping in five RBI and four runs scored. Lee remains in a near even split for playing time with Martin Maldonado behind the plate.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Resting Wednesday
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. He'll bow out of the starting nine for the series finale in what amounts to a maintenance day after he worked behind the plate both of the previous two days. Martin Maldonado will replace Lee as the White Sox's starting catcher.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Getting rest Sunday
Lee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Lee will hit the bench for the series finale after he caught all 10 innings of Saturday's 6-5 win while going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Martin Maldonado will draw the nod behind the plate Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Swats third homer
Lee went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Twins. Lee took Brock Stewart yard in the seventh inning for his third home run of the season, two of which have come in his last seven starts. He is in a nearly exactly even split for playing time behind the dish, as he's been in the lineup eight times in the White Sox's last 14 games. Overall, Lee has a 111 wRC+ and .328 wOBA across 58 plate appearances this season, and he could continue to slowly take playing time from Martin Maldonado if his strong performance continues.... White Sox's Korey Lee: Back in action Sunday
Lee will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Rays. Lee was on the bench for both of the White Sox's previous two games while Martin Maldonado handled the catching duties. After Maldonado ended his stretch of wretched production at the plate by blasting a three-run home run and adding a single in Friday's 9-4 win, he was rewarded with another start in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning win but went 0-for-2 with a walk. Maldonado is now holding down a lowly .304 OPS on the season -- well below Lee's .774 OPS in 47 plate appearances -- so expect the non-contending White Sox to lean on the younger and better-performing Lee as their preferred option behind the dish.... White Sox's Korey Lee: Clubs solo homer
Lee went 1-for-2 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Twins. Lee reached safely in two of his three plate appearances Wednesday, tagging Joe Ryan for a solo home run in the third inning and working a walk in the fifth. He stole second after the free pass, marking his first-career steal in the big leagues. After batting .077 and .160 over small samples in 2023 and 2022, respectively, Lee is off to a much better start to 2024, slashing .256/.310/.462 with five RBI and five runs scored.... See More ... White Sox's Korey Lee: Drives in two
Lee went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Phillies. Lee has earned two or three starts per week for most of the season and has shown some promise with the bat. His double on Saturday marked his third extra-base hit of the season across 35 plate appearances, and he also has four RBI and four runs scored. Lee hasn't looked out of place at the plate, as he's striking out at just a 17.1 percent clip with a .273 average.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Finding more playing time
Lee went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Wednesday against the Guardians. The stat line wasn't notable for Lee, but he has now started three straight games for the White Sox after being in the lineup just twice in the team's first nine contests. One of those starts came at designated hitter, with two behind the plate. Mounting injuries to the White Sox's lineup could mean that Lee continues to get playing time, though both Eloy Jimenez (thigh) and Max Stassi (hip) are nearing potential returns.... See More ... White Sox's Korey Lee: Returns from Triple-A
The White Sox recalled Lee from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Lee was just optioned last week but is back to take the injured Max Stassi's (hip) spot on the roster. The 25-year-old will serve as Martin Maldonado's backup behind the plate to begin the season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Sits amid slump
Lee is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. Lee did not record a hit over his last five games and owns just a .270 OPS at the big-league level this season, so he will get a day to clear his head after starting three of Chicago's last four contests. Yasmani Grandal will replace Lee behind the dish.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Takes seat Sunday
Lee is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers. Yasmani Grandal will start at catcher and bat fifth for the visiting White Sox. Lee, 25, has slashed just .118/.211/.206 through his first 38 plate appearances with Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Korey Lee: Heads to bench Sunday
Lee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics. Lee will take a seat for the series finale after he started behind the plate in each of the past three games following his promotion from Triple-A Charlotte while going 1-for-10 with two walks a run. Though he'll give way to Yasmani Grandal on Sunday, Lee looks as though he's going to get a look as the White Sox's primary catcher down the stretch, at least until Seby Zavala (oblique) returns from the 10-day injured list.... White Sox's Korey Lee: Acquired in Graveman trade
Houston traded Lee (oblique) to the White Sox on Friday in exchange for Kendall Graveman, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Lee has been on the minor-league injured list since early July because of a strained oblique, but he should be able to join up with the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox sometime in August. When healthy this season, the 25-year-old catcher has slashed .283/.328/.406 with five homers and 12 steals across 68 games in the Pacific Coast League. He batted .160/.192/.240 over 12 major-league games (26 plate appearances) for the Astros in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Korey Lee: Getting look at first base
Lee is being given a look at first base during Grapefruit League play, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Lee is battling for the backup catcher spot this spring with Yanier Diaz, and as McTaggart points out, Diaz has shown the ability to play first base which could give him an edge on the position. Lee will get a chance to even the playing field by getting reps at first base during exhibition season, and the former first-round pick told reporters it's a position he's been practicing a lot. Be it Lee or Diaz, the backup catcher for Houston is unlikely to have much fantasy relevance this year, but both could have the chance to earn the starting gig in coming seasons.... See More ... Astros' Korey Lee: Battling for backup job
Lee is competing this spring to be the backup catcher for the Astros, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports. Christian Vazquez -- acquired by the Astros at the trade deadline in 2022 -- departed in free agency this offseason, leaving the backup catcher job in Houston wide open. Meanwhile, Lee is well-regarded for his defense but slashed only .238/.307/.483 with a 28.5 percent strikeout rate across 446 plate appearances for Triple-A Sugar Land last season. Nevertheless, he made a brief debut in Houston, earning 24 plate appearances. Lee will be competing for the role with fellow prospect Yainer Diaz, who is regarded as a superior hitter but more deficient with the glove.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Korey Lee: Joins roster for World Series
Lee was added to the Astros' World Series roster on Saturday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports. Lee will join the team in place of Yuli Gurriel, who suffered a knee injury in Game 5. He's unlikely to be anything more than injury insurance behind the plate, allowing Christian Vazquez to serve as the designated hitter while Trey Mancini takes Gurriel's spot at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Korey Lee: Heads to minors
The Astros optioned Lee to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday. Lee slashed .160/.192/.240 with a pair of doubles and four RBI in 26 plate appearances after his July 1 call-up. The small sample doesn't tell us much about Lee as a prospect. He now returns to the minors to clear space for the newly acquired Christian Vazquez, and barring injury to Vazquez or Martin Maldonado, Lee is unlikely to see significant big-league action in 2022.... Astros' Korey Lee: Three hits, three RBI in win
Lee went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Athletics. Lee knocked in half of the Astros' runs with an RBI single in the fifth inning and a two-run double in the seventh. The 23-year-old catcher had gone 0-for-4 with a walk in his first three big-league games, making one start in that stretch. With veteran Martin Maldonado around, Lee's playing time is likely to be limited to one or two starts a week, though an extended stretch of good hitting could help Lee force his way into the lineup more often while Jason Castro (knee) is out.... Astros' Korey Lee: Earns first career call-up
Lee was called up by the Astros on Friday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. Lee is a fairly interesting prospect, with an excellent arm and good raw power, but there are questions about his hit tool. He hasn't had success at the Triple-A level, hitting .226/.285/.419 for Sugar Land through 64 games, good for just a 71 wRC+. He's presumably set to back up Martin Maldonado with Jason Castro (knee) landing on the injured list.... See More ... See Less
