  • Colt Keith 2B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: On bench versus lefty

Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks

Keith went 4-for-9 with a walk, two RBI and three runs while starting the first two games of the series, but he'll sit Sunday as lefty Jordan Montgomery takes the mound for Arizona. Andy Ibanez will man second base and bat leadoff.

  • Jorge Polanco 2B | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Absence continues Sunday

Polanco (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Baltimore.

Polanco is out of the starting nine for the fifth straight game as he continues to manage soreness in his right hamstring. Josh Rojas is picking up another start at the keystone while Luis Urias mans the hot corner.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Remains out Sunday

Hoerner (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Make it six straight absences for Hoerner, who continues to nurse a sore left hamstring. He was still hoping to avoid the injured list as of Friday, but it's reasonable to think Hoerner to the IL could be the move to accommodate the return of Dansby Swanson (knee) on Tuesday. Nick Madrigal has been serving as the Cubs' primary second baseman in Hoerner's absence.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Back in lineup as DH

Garcia (heel) will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Phillies.

After being held out of the lineup for the first two games of the series with a right heel injury, Garcia has gained clearance to return Sunday, albeit only as the DH. It's uncertain when he may return to the field, but the fact that Garcia is still active suggests the team is not concerned about the injury becoming worse with play.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Heads to bench Sunday

Gorman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Gorman has homered in back-to-back games, but the strikeouts are piling up. He's struck out 10 times in his last 16 at-bats, bringing his K-rate to 35 percent through 157 plate appearances this season. Brendan Donovan will start at second base Sunday as Alec Burleson takes over in left field and Matt Carpenter starts at DH.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Extends hitting streak to 17 games

Marte went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Tigers.

Marte went down on strikes in each of his first two at-bats before driving in the first run of the game with a one-out triple in the bottom of the sixth. He would come home to score as well on a Joc Pederson single in the following at-bat, though the effort would fall short as Detroit stormed back in the seventh to take the lead. The triple was Marte's second of the season and extended his hitting streak to 17 games. However, he's recorded only one multi-hit game over that stretch and is batting just .246 in May with four homers, 10 RBI and seven runs scored.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | CLE

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Racks up three more hits

Gimenez went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 11-4 win over the Twins.

That's five multi-hit efforts in a row for Gimenez, and Saturday saw the second baseman earn his second three-hit game of the season. While he's making steady contact lately, he has just two extra-base hits over his last six contests. Gimenez is slashing .276/.333/.371 with two home runs, seven stolen bases, 25 RBI, 24 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple of 190 plate appearances as the Guardians' usual No. 2 hitter.

  • Jorge Mateo 2B | BAL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Two hits, steal in loss

Mateo went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners.

Mateo has hit .263 (10-for-38) over 13 games in May, but this was his first multi-hit effort of the season. He's made up for the lack of explosiveness with modest consistency, slashing .260/.301/.468 over 85 plate appearances this season. Mateo has added two home runs, six steals, five RBI, 14 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple. He continues to see most of the playing time at second base, with Jordan Westburg at third and Ramon Urias in a utility role.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers in back-to-back games

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI single and two total runs scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox.

Gorman has homered in each of the last two games, and he's gone deep three times with three multi-hit efforts over his last seven contests. The second baseman is up to a .201/.293/.396 slash line through 157 plate appearances after hitting as low as .172 and slugging as little as .319 on May 9. He's added seven homers, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 40 games while seeing a majority of the playing time at the keystone this year.

  • Kody Clemens 2B | PHI

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Comes through with clutch homer

Clemens went 2-for-2 with a solo home run Saturday in a 4-3 extra-inning victory over Washington.

Clemens came on as a pinch hitter for Edmundo Sosa in the seventh inning and singled in his first at-bat. His second time up to the plate was much more dramatic, as he belted a game-tying solo shot to center field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth frame. Clemens' playing time has been sporadic, but he's been productive when given an opportunity, as he's slashing .304/.333/.826 with three homers and eight RBI over just 24 plate appearances.
