  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Not starting Friday

Seager (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

The hamstring injury that caused Seager's departure from Wednesday's matchup with the Tigers is considered minor, but he'll still be out of the starting nine for at least one game. The 30-year-old is still on Texas' lineup card, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, and he isn't expected to require a trip to the injured list. Josh Smith will shift to shortstop while Ezequiel Duran receives a start at the hot corner.

  • Kevin Newman SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kevin Newman: On bench Friday

Newman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

The 30-year-old will yield to Blaze Alexander on Friday despite Newman a six-game hit streak. On the year, Newman is slashing .260/.294/.377 with a 14.8 percent strikeout rate in 155 plate appearances.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

Pirates' Liover Peguero: Sent to Triple-A

Peguero was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

The 23-year-old was called up by Pittsburgh on Tuesday and will return to Indianapolis without appearing in a big-league game. Peguero has a .272/.341/.378 slash line with two homers, 34 RBI, 32 runs and five steals in 51 games at Triple-A this year.

  • Tim Anderson SS | MIA

Marlins' Tim Anderson: On Bereavement List

Anderson was placed on the Bereavement List Friday.

Anderson will be away from the team as he tends to personal matters. While he's absent, Vidal Brujan and recently called-up Xavier Edwards should handle most of the work at shortstop. Anderson is slashing just .188/.221/.206 in 172 plate appearances this season.

  • Sammy Stafura SS | CIN

Reds' Sammy Stafura: Success carrying over at Single-A

Stafura is slashing .294/.351/.441 with one home run, one steal and a 13.5 percent strikeout rate in eight games since getting promoted to Single-A Daytona.

He was dreadful in the Arizona Complex League in a small sample last year (.071 AVG, 43.4 K%) after getting drafted with the No. 43 overall pick, but Stafura seems to have adjusted better to pro pitching in his first full season. He hit .345 with a .486 BABIP and 29 percent strikeout rate in the ACL this year as a 19-year-old, and the real test will be how he fares over a long stretch against Single-A pitchers. Given that he was a prep hitter from the Northeast, it would make sense that he would be a bit of a late bloomer.

  • Adael Amador SS | COL

Rockies' Adael Amador: Slow start in rearview mirror

Amador has homered in three straight games and is slashing .333/.422/.741 with seven home runs and seven steals in his last 13 games for Double-A Hartford.

The prized second baseman slashed .135/.309/.144 with one extra-base hit in his first 32 games of the season, so his overall season stats aren't spectacular, but Amador is beginning to show the type of update that his dynasty managers were expecting. Amador is also a threat on the bases, having stolen 22 bags on 25 attempts in 45 games. He should be Ezequiel Tovar's double-play partner in Colorado for most, if not all, of 2025.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Homers, steals bag

Crus went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and an additional run scored during Thursday's 11-7 loss to the Dodgers.

Cruz took Evan Phillips yard in the eighth inning for a three-run shot, his first home run in 15 games. While 2024 hasn't been the breakout season that fantasy managers may have expected for the talented shortstop, Cruz has eight homers, 13 doubles and five stolen bases through 229 plate appearances.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Steals base, logs three hits

Rojas went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base during Thursday's 11-7 win over the Pirates.

Rojas generated three or more hits for the second time this season, with the other such performance happening May 29 against the Mets. He also swiped his third bag of the campaign, taking second base off Bailey Falter and Henry Davis in the first inning. Overall, Rojas is slashing .287/.343/.447 with a career-best 7.8 percent K rate.

  • Mookie Betts SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Reaches four times, homers

Betts went 2-for-4 with two walks, a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 11-7 win over the Pirates.

Betts' three-run blast capped off a six-run fifth inning for the Dodgers and plated Miguel Vargas and Austin Barnes. Prior to Thursday's outburst, Betts had gone 1-for-24 (.042) across six games. Despite the minor cold spell, he owns the ninth-best OPS in MLB at .923 with 10 homers and nine stolen bases.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Serves as DH on rehab assignment

Perdomo started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with an RBI for Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Perdomo, who played seven innings at shortstop Wednesday, was in the lineup for a second straight day but got replaced by a pinch hitter after eight innings. Perdomo will continue his rehab assignment through the weekend for Reno and could rejoin the Diamondbacks next week. Arizona begins a homestand Tuesday against the Angels.
