  • Clay Holmes RP | NYY

Yankees' Clay Holmes: Rebounds for 14th save

Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out a pair in 1.1 innings.

Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year.

  • Sammy Peralta RP | SEA

Mariners' Sammy Peralta: Designated for assignment

Peralta was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Seattle has scooped up Eduardo Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers and Peralta is the 40-man roster casualty. Peralta, 26, has spent all of this season at Triple-A Tacoma, putting up a 9.24 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 12.2 frames.

  • Tyler Rogers RP | SF

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Grabs save Thursday

Rogers earned the save in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates, working around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Rogers was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth, with Camilo Doval having pitched three times in the last four days. The Pirates would get a couple of baserunners via an error and a Bryan Reynolds single, but Rogers would ultimately escape unscathed, securing his first save this season. The 33-year-old sidearmer has put together another solid start to the campaign -- his ERA is down to 2.19 with a 0.97 WHIP and 16 strikeouts with no walks across 24.2 innings. While Doval is firmly established as the closer in San Francisco, Rogers is the clear number-two option.

  • Mariners' Eduardo Salazar: Claimed by M's

The Mariners claimed Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

After pitching two scoreless innings for the Dodgers on May 15, Salazar was optioned to Triple-A and later designated for assignment. He'll once again hold a 40-man roster spot with his new club, though he will begin his tenure with the Mariners at Triple-A Tacoma. The 26-year-old right-hander has logged a 5.61 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 33.2 innings across seven starts in the minors.

  • Rays' Shawn Armstrong: Will be opener Friday

Armstrong will serve as an opener for Friday's game against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The right-hander will be first into the game before handing things off to Tyler Alexander, who is slated to handle the bulk of the innings. It will be the fourth opener assignment this season for Armstrong, who has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 8:2 K:BB over four innings in the first three outings.

  • Alex Lange RP | DET

Tigers' Alex Lange: Optioned to Triple-A

The Tigers optioned Lange to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

A day after allowing four earned runs in one inning during Wednesday's loss to the Royals, Lange will be sent to Triple-A in order to get back on track. The 28-year-old owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.77 WHIP alongside a 21:17 K:BB through 18.2 innings this season, and he figures to return to Detroit's bullpen once he starts turning in promising results with Toledo. In the meantime, Mason Englert will come up from Triple-A to take Lange's place.

  • Mason Englert RP | DET

Tigers' Mason Englert: Recalled from Triple-A

The Tigers recalled Englert from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Englert has put up a 2.35 ERA and 34:9 K:BB over 23 innings with Toledo this season. The 24-year-old collected a 5.46 ERA across 31 appearances for the Tigers last season. He should operate in low-leverage situations.

  • John King RP | STL

Cardinals' John King: Collects first win

King (1-1) pitched two scoreless and hitless innings, walking one and striking out one while earning the win Wednesday over the Orioles.

King provided much-needed length out of the bullpen following a rain delay that ended starter Kyle Gibson's day after four innings. King has kept runs off the board in six of his nine outings since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis in early May. He's at a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB over 12.2 innings while adding two holds and a blown save across 11 appearances. King isn't a regular part of the Cardinals' high-leverage mix, so his fantasy appeal remains low.

  • Ryan Fernandez RP | STL

Cardinals' Ryan Fernandez: Earns first career save

Fernandez allowed a run on two hits over one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Orioles. He did not walk or strike out a batter.

Fernandez allowed a run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, but a baserunning blunder by the Orioles' Cedric Mullins took the tying run off base. The save was Fernandez's first of his career, and he got the opportunity because most of the Cardinals' high-leverage relievers pitched earlier Wednesday to finish off Tuesday's suspended game. The rookie right-hander has done alright in a low-leverage role with a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 24:7 K:BB over 20.2 innings while adding one hold and an 0-1 record. He's struggled a little lately with four runs allowed over his last 3.1 innings.

  • Kyle Muller RP | OAK

Athletics' Kyle Muller: Takes first loss Wednesday

Muller (0-1) took the loss in an extra-innings defeat at the hands of the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over one inning.

Muller was entrusted with preserving a 2-2 tie when he entered in the 12th inning, but he faltered almost immediately by giving up a go-ahead two-run home run to Ryan McMahon with inning-opening runner Jake Cave aboard. Oakland would halve its two-run deficit in the home half of the frame but fall short of knotting the score back up, saddling Muller with his first loss. The southpaw sports a respectable 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, but he's allowed at least one run in nine of his 12 appearances.
