Colas was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte by the White Sox on Thursday.
Colas was up for just one day, making a pinch-hitting appearance in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians. The White Sox will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's contest against the Reds.

White Sox's Oscar Colas: Call-up official
The White Sox recalled Colas from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
As anticipated, Colas will join the big club after the White Sox placed infielder Yoan Moncada (adductor) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. With the White Sox sitting on a 2-9 record and already trending toward fading from the playoff race with Moncada and two other key regulars in Luis Robert (hip) and Eloy Jimenez (adductor) on the IL, Colas could end up getting a look as an everyday player in the outfield. The 25-year-old did little to distinguish himself after making the White Sox's Opening Day roster last spring, as he slashed just .216/.257/.314 over 263 plate appearances and ultimately finished the 2023 season in the minors. Colas had posted an .875 OPS with one stolen base through his first eight games with Charlotte this season prior to receiving a promotion.

White Sox's Oscar Colas: Expected to be promoted
Colas will be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte prior to Wednesday's game in Cleveland, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
The White Sox need reinforcements with Yoan Moncada (adductor) joining Luis Robert (hip) and Eloy Jimenez (adductor) on the shelf. Colas is 9-for-28 with one home run and two doubles in the early going with Charlotte and should get a decent number of reps in the outfield, at least against right-handed pitching.

The White Sox optioned Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Colas was fighting for a roster spot during spring training but will shift to minor-league camp after he hit just .188 through 10 Cactus League games. The 25-year-old was the White Sox's starting right fielder to open 2023 but had a .571 OPS in 75 games, so he ended up spending much of the campaign at Triple-A.

White Sox's Oscar Colas: Seeing action at first base
Colas played some at first base during Saturday's Cactus League loss to the Rangers, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Colas has played only right field and center field since being signed by the White Sox in January of 2022, but he has extensive experience at first base from his days playing in Japan. Andrew Vaughn has first base locked down with the big club, but Colas adding to his versatility gives him another avenue to at-bats. The 25-year-old is expected to begin 2024 back in the minors following a disappointing 2023, which saw him post just a .571 OPS over 75 games with the big club.

Colas is likely to begin the 2024 season with Triple-A Charlotte, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Colas earned the starting right field job for the White Sox to begin the 2023 season, though he posted just a 53 wRC+ across 263 plate appearances. He was also demoted to Charlotte from early May to early July, and once again in mid-September. If the 25-year-old returns to the minors to start 2024, Gavin Sheets and the newly signed Kevin Pillar would be the top options in right field, but Colas could still re-establish himself with a big spring.

The White Sox optioned Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.
Colas has now been sent down to the minors for the second time this season, as he was also optioned back in early May following a slow start to the campaign. Colas slashed just .219/.253/.331 in 50 games after being recalled in early July and is hitting only .216/.257/.314 overall in his rookie campaign. Gavin Sheets and Trayce Thompson are likely to form a platoon in right field with Colas headed back to Triple-A.

The White Sox's 55-86 record means they have little reason not to give purported pieces of the future like Colas as many at-bats as they can handle down the stretch. The rookie right fielder made 11 consecutive starts prior to Saturday's off day, but his .175/.214/.350 slash line over that stretch has hardly been promising. Trayce Thompson will take a turn in right field in Colas' absence.

Colas has just five homers this year, two of which have come in his last seven games. In that span, he's gone 5-for-25 (.200) with six strikeouts and one walk. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing a meager .218/.260/.315 with 19 RBI, 31 runs scored and four stolen bases over his first 73 major-league games.

White Sox's Oscar Colas: Smacks fourth homer
Colas went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Orioles.
Colas has started 21 of 26 games for the White Sox in August, despite his performance being uneven. He did manage three homers and 15 runs scored in that span. On the other hand, he's carried a 27.4 percent strikeout rate and hit just .231. Given that the White Sox aren't playing for positioning in the standings. Colas should continue to get regular run in the final month of the season, and he could emerge as a potential source of power.
