Peguero earned the save in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Cubs, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. With Trevor Megill (elbow) unavailable after he was struck by a line drive Tuesday, Peguero got the call in the ninth inning Thursday. He worked around a Dansby Swanson one-out single to close out a two-run victory, earning his first save of the year. It could be a one-off for Peguero, as Megill is expected to avoid an IL stint and figures to reclaim the closing job until Devin Williams (back) is healthy. Still, the 27-year-old Peguero has been a solid late-inning option for the Brewers this season, pitching to a 2.92 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP and 22:12 K:BB over 24.2 innings.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Elvis Peguero: No limits in spring
Peguero (elbow) has struck out two while allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk over two innings through his first two Cactus League appearances. Peguero concluded the 2023 season on the Brewers' 15-day injured list with a right elbow effusion but doesn't seem to be facing any restrictions in spring training. The 26-year-old righty is expected to fill a middle-innings role out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season after logging a 3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 54:26 K:BB in 61.1 frames in 2023 while collecting four wins, one save and 21 holds.... Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Lands on injured list
Peguero was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Sept. 17, with a right elbow effusion, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. It's unclear when the injury first surfaced for Peguero, but he hasn't pitched since he delivered 1.1 scoreless frames Saturday against Washington. The right-hander will miss the rest of the regular season but will be eligible to return in the playoffs, which the Brewers are undoubtedly hoping for given his 3.38 ERA and 21 holds in 59 outings this year.... Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Getting back on track
Peguero tossed a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 12-1 victory over the Rockies. Peguero was preparing to enter the game with the Brewers ahead by only four runs, so don't let the fact that he worked in a blowout lead you to believe he is no longer part of Milwaukee's late-inning mix. Peguero gave up three earned runs twice in late July, but he seems to have righted the ship, allowing just one runner to reach base through three outings in August. He remains the top right-handed option in front of setup man Joel Payamps and closer Devin Williams.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Earns extra-inning save
Peguero picked up his first career save Sunday against the Guardians after striking out two and not allowing a hit in the 10th inning. Peguero was awarded a save opportunity in the 10th after Devin Williams pitched a perfect ninth to send the game to extra innings. The 26-year-old started off the frame with back-to-back strikeouts of Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor and shut the door on the game by getting Myles Straw to foul out. The 26-year-old has been a viable reliver in his first season with the Brewers and now stands at a 2.89 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB to go with five holds and the one save over 28 innings. He's unlikely to see many more save chances moving forward unless Williams is unavailable to pitch.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Picks up first win
Peguero tossed a scoreless 10th inning and picked up the first win of his career in Friday's victory over the Reds. Peguero hit a batter in his lone inning, but he also kept the Reds off the scoreboard in the bottom of the 10th frame, and he walked away with the win when the Brewers scored two runs to Cincinnati's one in the 11th. Since being recalled by the Brewers in late April, Peguero has allowed two and four earned runs in separate outings, but he has also made 12 scoreless appearances and owns a 2.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. As such, his spot in Milwaukee's bullpen seems secure for the time being.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Joins big club
Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. The right-hander failed to make Milwaukee's Opening Day roster but will join the MLB club a couple weeks into the season. Peguero has pitched well early this year for Nashville with a 2.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB over 7.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Shipped to Milwaukee
Peguero was traded from the Angels to the Brewers on Tuesday along with Janson Junk and Adam Seminaris in exchange for Hunter Renfroe. Peguero has appeared in 16 games for the Angels over the past two seasons but has struggled in his first taste of the majors with 13 earned runs allowed across 17.1 innings. The 25-year-old pitched well at Triple-A last year with a 2.84 ERA and will now attempt to find his footing in a new organization.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Heads back to minors
Peguero was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Peguero spent just over a month in the Angels' bullpen and posted a 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 16 innings over 11 appearances. However, he'll lose his spot on the active roster after he gave up three unearned runs in one-third of an inning Friday against Texas.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Back in big leagues
Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old made two appearances for the Angels in early May and will now rejoin the major-league club. Peguero surrendered three runs over 1.1 innings between those two outings, but he's pitched better at Triple-A with a 3.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 33:5 K:BB across 25.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake
Peguero was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. The pitcher failed to appear in any games this spring after having his contract selected by the Angels in November. Peguero struggled in his three outings with the team last season, surrendering seven earned runs in 2.1 innings on the mound. Additionally, he posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in six appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake in 2021.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Contract selected Friday
Peguero's contract was selected by the Angels on Friday. Peguero was cast off the 40-man roster in mid-September but will now have his contract selected to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He made his first three major-league appearances in 2021 and allowed seven runs in 2.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Struggles in big-league debut
Peguero (0-1) took the loss against Baltimore on Thursday, pitching two-thirds of an inning and allowing five runs on two hits and three walks. The right-hander received his first call-up to the majors Wednesday and made his debut Thursday. The outing did not go well, as Peguero threw only 16 of 31 pitches for strikes and issued three free passes. All five batters he allowed to reach base eventually came around to score, including three who crossed the plate after his departure. Peguero has been solid in the minors this season but may not stick around with the big club for long, especially if he's unable to consistently throw strikes.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Elvis Peguero: Joins big-league club
The Angels selected Peguero's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. Peguero has appeared in only one game for Salt Lake, pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and a walk. He's made 26 total appearances across three minor-league levels this season and has posted a 2.79 ERA and 67:18 K:BB in 51.2 innings. Peguero figures to be used in low-leverage relief situations for however long he remains with the Angels.... See More ... See Less
