  • Brewers' William Contreras: First day off of 2024

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Contreras started Milwaukee's first 58 games of the season (58 at catcher, 11 at designated hitter), but he'll receive a well-deserved day off Sunday versus Chicago. He's been an MVP candidate early in 2024 with a eight homers, 44 RBI, 48 runs, four steals and a .322/.394/.498 slash line. Gary Sanchez is working behind the plate Sunday for the Brewers.

  • Drew Millas C | WAS

Nationals' Drew Millas: Brought up Sunday

The Nationals recalled Millas from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

With catcher Riley Adams being optioned down after batting struggles as of late, Millas will be brought up as the number two catcher. Millas has appeared in 30 games with Rochester this year, slashing .308/.353/.505 with 22 RBI and five home runs.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Optioned down to Triple-A

Washington optioned Adams to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

Adams will head down to Rochester after struggling to get his bat going lately, and catcher Drew Millas will be recalled concurrently. In his last 10 games, Adams has gone 5-for-27 and lost most of his backstop work to Keibert Ruiz as the seasons progressed.

  • Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Resting Sunday

Grandal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Toronto.

The veteran will watch from the dugout as Grant Koch catches recent call-up Quinn Priester. Grandal is slashing .182/.194/.318 with 11 RBI this season.

  • Tomas Nido C | NYM

Mets' Tomas Nido: Out of lineup Sunday

Nido is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Arizona.

Nido has started at backstop in the last two games of New York's series with the Diamondbacks, going 1-for-7 with one RBI and two strikeouts. He'll cede catching duties to Luis Torrens who will bat ninth and get his first start of the year in the series finale.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Contributes homer Saturday

Higashioka went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a 7-3 victory versus the Royals.

Higashioka padded San Diego's lead in the ninth inning with a solo shot to left field. It was just his second homer this season after he belted exactly 10 long balls in each of the past three seasons while with the Yankees. Higashioka's playing time has fallen as a member of the Padres -- he has just 52 plate appearances so far this season. The backup catcher is slashing a paltry .157/.173/.314, though four of his eight hits have gone for extra bases.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Getting afternoon off

Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Moreno will get some rest for the series finale after he started at catcher each of the past three days while going 2-for-12 with a double and two runs scored. Tucker Barnhart will step in behind the dish Sunday.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Resting Saturday

Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday versus Kansas City.

Campusano is still ice cold at the plate and is now 0-for-19 across his last seven games. He'll give way to Kyle Higashioka on Saturday and may continue to lose playing time if his offensive struggles continue.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Not starting Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday against the Guardians.

After going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener, Ruiz will take a seat Saturday against Ben Lively and the Guardians. Riley Adams will fill in behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

    Braves' Sean Murphy: Resting Saturday

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland.

Murphy has gone just 2-for-13 since returning from the injured list, so he'll get a chance to regroup Saturday while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind the dish, batting sixth.
