  • Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Two hits, steal in win

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins.

Gimenez has warmed up dramatically with four straight two-hit games, though he has just one extra-base hit in that span. The second baseman is 9-for-20 (.450) with two steals and four RBI during a five-game hitting streak. The surge has him up to a .267/.326/.364 slash line with two home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored and seven thefts through 42 contests.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Slugs 10th homer

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins.

Ramirez's long ball gave the Guardians the lead for good in the eighth inning. It was his 10th homer of the year, five of which he's hit over the last 12 contests, a span that's also seen him earn 13 RBI and three stolen bases. The third baseman is slashing .249/.301/.463 with 38 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven steals, six doubles and a triple through 44 games this season.

  • Guardians' Tim Herrin: Collects second win

Herrin (2-0) allowed a hit and a walk without giving up a run in one-third of an inning to earn the win Friday over the Twins.

Herrin allowed an inherited runner to score in the eighth inning, which tied the game at 2-2, but the Guardians retook the lead in their half of the frame on a Jose Ramirez solo home run. It'll go down as Herrin's first blown save of the campaign. The southpaw has been quite effective so far with a 0.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over 19.1 innings while adding four holds through 20 appearances. He doesn't seen a ton of high-leverage work and is not in contention for save chances at this time, as Emmanuel Clase has been nearly untouchable for the Guardians this season.

  • Guardians' David Fry: Pops fourth homer

Fry went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Twins.

Fry put Cleveland ahead with his 364-foot, two-run home run in the sixth inning off reliever Steven Okert. The 28-year-old utility man has been especially hot since the calendar turned to May, hitting .366 (11-for-30) this month. Over 95 plate appearances this season, Fry is slashing .333/.453/.560 with four homers, 15 runs scored and 14 RBI.

  • Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Locks up 13th save

Clase picked up the save Friday against Minnesota. He pitched a clean inning with one strikeout.

Clase required only 13 pitches to retire the side in order for the save Friday night. The 26-year-old closer is riding a streak of eight straight scoreless appearances, allowing just one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts and five saves over eight innings. Clase remains among the game's most elite closers, sporting a 0.42 ERA over 22.1 innings this season.

  • Guardians' Triston McKenzie: Quality in no-decision

McKenzie did not factor into the decision Friday against the Twins, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

McKenzie posted his second consecutive quality start with the effort Friday. The Cleveland right-hander has tossed six straight starts allowing two or fewer runs while generating five or more strikeouts, producing a 2.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 35:19 K:BB in 34 innings over that time. McKenzie is scheduled to face the Mets at home in his next outing.

  • Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Taking seat Friday

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Manzardo started the previous three contests and will receive a day off after he went 1-for-10 with a walk and a run scored. David Fry will serve as Cleveland's designated hitter Friday.

  • Guardians' Sam Hentges: Back from paternity leave

The Guardians activated Hentges from the paternity leave list Thursday.

Hentges missed a series against the Rangers while spending time with his growing family. He'll be back in the Guardians' bullpen for their weekend set versus the Twins.

  • Guardians' Carlos Carrasco: Decent in loss

Carrasco (2-4) took the loss versus the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings.

Carrasco traded zeros with Jon Gray for the first four innings, but the Rangers broke through on a two-run home by Marcus Semien in the fifth. This was a small step back for Carrasco, who had posted quality starts in his last two outings. The right-hander is now at a 5.16 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB over 45.1 innings this season. He is projected for a home start versus the Mets his next time out.

  • Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Riding pine Wednesday

Rocchio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Gabriel Arias will take over at shortstop while Rocchio sits out the series finale. Rocchio lifted his batting average up to .208 after going 2-for-9 at the plate while he started each of the past three games.

  • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Moving to bench Wednesday

Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Naylor will rest Wednesday after he was behind the plate for the first two games of the series, going 1-for-8 with a double, two RBI and a run scored between those contests. He'll cede catching duties to Austin Hedges in the series finale.

  • Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Records steal in win

Freeman went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, two hit-by-pitches, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rangers.

That's a hard way to get on base four times, but it worked well to set the table for the Guardians. Freeman is still not hitting all that well -- he's batting .167 over 12 games in May, dropping his season average to .193 through 37 contests. He's made up for it with a passable .307 on-base percentage and 9.2 percent walk rate. The 24-year-old has added five steals, four home runs, 13 RBI, 21 runs scored and six doubles through 141 plate appearances. Manager Stephen Vogt is still trying to figure out who will fit best at leadoff while Steven Kwan (hamstring) is out, and Freeman is in the mix, having hit atop the order in each of the last three games.

  • Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Plates two in win

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rangers.

Gimenez contributed an RBI single in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the ninth. He's hit safely in three straight games after going 0-for-15 over the previous four contests. The second baseman is up to a .255/.318/.357 slash line with six steals, two home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple over 40 contests. While his power is slightly down this year, the rest of his offense is roughly in line with where he was at in 2023.

  • Guardians' C.J. Kayfus: Maximizing power output

Kayfus, 22, is slashing .333/.432/.613 with six home runs and an 18 percent strikeout rate in 25 games for High-A Lake County.

Kayfus slugged .548 during his time at Miami, and while he hit .302 in the Cape Cod League in 2022, he hit only one home run in 29 games. His power has translated more than anticipated against Single-A and High-A pitching thus far, as Kayfus was seen as a hit-over-power first baseman entering the draft. Kayfus' 29.2 percent hard-hit rate is middling for an older first base prospect, but he has mastered the lift and pull strategy, hitting 45.9 percent of balls to the pull side and just 33.8 percent of balls on the ground.

  • Guardians' Josh Naylor: Does a bit of everything

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two walks and a stolen base during Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rangers.

Naylor took part in the Guardians' six-run second inning, plating Tyler Freeman and Andres Gimenez with a three-run blast. He also swiped his third bag of the campaign and boosted his walk rate to 10.4 percent. The 27-year-old has gone yard five times in his last 10 games and is batting .286 during that stretch.
