Orioles' Mike Baumann: DFA'd by O's
The Orioles designated Baumann for assignment Saturday.
Baumann doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, so the Orioles will have to remove him from their 40-man roster in order to create room on the big-league squad for Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder), who came off the injured list Saturday. Baumann has posted a 3.44 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 18.1 innings this season and will likely attract interest on the waiver wire from teams in need of bullpen help.

Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Activated from IL
The Orioles reinstated Rodriguez (shoulder) from the injured list to start Saturday's game against the Mariners.
After landing on the injured list May 1 with right shoulder inflammation, Rodriguez will return to the Orioles' rotation without making a rehab appearance in the minors. The 24-year-old right-hander threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Sunday, though it's unclear how many pitches he's built up to since then, making it possible he works under a pitch count while facing the Mariners. Mike Baumann was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Triple, home run in win
Henderson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI triple and a second run scored in Friday's 9-2 win over the Mariners.
Henderson led off the game with a solo shot off Bryce Miller, his 13th homer of the year, before driving in a second run with an opposite-field triple in the seventh inning. While Henderson's gotten off to a great start this year, he'd been slumping a bit coming into Friday's contest, going 0-for-11 in his prior three games. Overall, the 22-year-old shortstop is slashing .263/.339/.569 with 29 RBI, 32 runs scored and six steals across 189 plate appearances this season.

Orioles' John Means: Improves to 2-0
Means (2-0) earned the win Friday over the Mariners, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out four.
Means got off to a rocky start, allowing a run on three hits in the first inning. However, he'd settle down and hold Seattle to just one additional run over his final five frames in an eventual 9-2 Orioles win. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Means, after he gave up four runs in just 4.2 innings against Arizona in his last start. The 31-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to 3.06 with a 0.85 WHIP and 15 strikeouts while still not issuing a walk over 17.2 innings. Means is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cardinals in his next outing.

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Lands on IL with fractured rib
Mayo was placed on Triple-A Norfolk's 7-day injured list Friday due to a fractured rib, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Mayo was removed from Thursday's game against Lehigh Valley after he collided with the dugout railing chasing a pop-up in foul territory. X-rays after the game revealed that Mayo suffered a fractured rib, and the 22-year-old is set to be sidelined for several weeks. Before the injury, he was slashing .291/.359/.605 with 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 37 RBI over 192 plate appearances at Triple-A.

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Starts playing catch
Bautista (elbow) played catch Friday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Bautista is continuing to rehab from October 2023 Tommy John surgery and a follow-up procedure in February. While a 2024 return hasn't been ruled out and Friday's progress is encouraging, it's highly unlikely Bautista will be back on a mound for the O's this season.

Orioles' Anthony Santander: Starting as designated hitter
Santander (knee) is in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's matchup against the Mariners.
Santander hurt his knee in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays after first colliding with the outfield wall and then hitting it again during a slide, which led to his exit from the game. The veteran outfielder will be eased back into the lineup at designated hitter while Ryan O'Hearn mans right field.

Mullins will be on the bench for the third time in the last five games despite the O's facing a right-handed pitcher Friday. Mayo exited Thursday's game with Triple-A Norfolk after colliding with the third-base dugout, Rich Dubroff of Baltimorebaseball.com reports.
There aren't many details available about the incident, but Mayo's removal was termed as a precaution. Assuming he can make a quick return, Mayo could be nearing a promotion to the majors as he's posted an impressive .282/.353/.594 line across 190 plate appearances with Norfolk.

Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Productive for Bowie
Beavers is slashing .294/.403/.451 with three home runs and seven steals in 29 games for Double-A Bowie.
Beavers has a 147 wRC+ after logging a 150 wRC+ in 34 games for the Baysox to close the 2023 season. A patient hitter with good pull-side power and above-average speed, Beavers now has a career .309/.411/.466 slash line at the Double-A level, but he has just five home runs in 63 games. Bowie isn't a great place to put up big offensive numbers, but Beavers' lefty stick should eventually fit nicely in Baltimore, and his 16 doubles in 63 Double-A games hint at some untapped power potential.

Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Blasts leadoff homer
Westburg went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.
Westburg made manager Brandon Hyde look smart -- this was Westburg's first big-league game at leadoff, and he hit a homer in his first at-bat. The infielder is 11-for-32 (.344) over his last eight games, adding six extra-base hits and seven RBI in that span. For the season, he's slashing .301/.354/.534 with seven homers, 28 RBI, 22 runs scored and five stolen bases through 159 plate appearances. Westburg may get more looks at leadoff versus southpaws, but he should be expected to bat lower in the lineup versus right-handers, as he has yet to above sixth in the order against same-handed pitchers this season.

Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Collects first win
Coulombe (1-0) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays. He did not issue a walk or strikeout a batter.
Coulombe did his part in the top of the ninth inning to keep the game within reach for the Orioles, and Adley Rutschman rewarded him by walking it off with a two-run home run. Coulombe has not allowed a run over his last seven appearances, covering 6.1 innings with a 3:0 K:BB in that span. He's at a 2.16 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 16.2 innings while adding a save, eight holds and a blown save as a reliable high-leverage arm. With Craig Kimbrel's struggles jolting the Orioles into a closer committee, it appears Coulombe remains more of a setup man at this stage of the campaign.

Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Walks off Toronto
Rutschman went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.
After Jordan Westburg led off the ninth with an infield hit, Rustchman launched a deep fly ball off Jordan Romano that just cleared the right-field fence, giving the Orioles a 3-2 walk-off victory. Rutschman's now homered in three straight games, totaling four long balls in that span. The 26-year-old backstop is slashing .314/.350/.509 with nine homers, 27 RBI and 24 runs scored through his first 40 games this season.

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Goes four innings vs. Toronto
Bradish did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.
Both runs against Bradish came on a Bo Bichette double in the third inning. The right-hander was pulled after throwing 85 pitches, as the Orioles continue to limit Bradish's pitch count after he missed the first month of the season with a strained UCL. The 27-year-old Bradish sports a 2.63 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across his first three starts (13.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cardinals early next week.

Orioles' Anthony Santander: Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with a double.
Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. The injury doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day Thursday will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day heading into this weekend's series versus the Mariners.
