Yankees' Aaron Judge: Homers again Thursday

Judge went 2-for-2 with a solo homer, a double, two walks and a second run scored in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Mariners.

Judge extended the Yankees lead to 2-0 with a 414-foot shot off Luis Castillo in the third inning, his 15th long ball this year, tied for third-most in the majors, and his second in as many days. Judge has been on a tear this month, going 27-for-63 (.429) with nine homers and 17 RBI in his last 19 games. After a slow start to the season, he's boosted his slash line to .276/.416/.611 with 35 RBI, 34 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

  • Tyler Wells SP | BAL

Orioles' Tyler Wells: To resume throwing

Wells (elbow) plans to resume throwing this week in Sarasota, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

This would be the first time Wells would play catch since May 1, which was right before he was sent for additional testing. The right-hander was placed on the injured list April 13 due to right elbow inflammation. His last outing was April 12 when he allowed four runs through four innings against Milwaukee.

  • Andrew Heaney SP | TEX

Rangers' Andrew Heaney: Takes sixth loss

Heaney (0-6) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

Heaney held the Phillies scoreless until J.T. Realmuto's leadoff homer in the third inning before they'd tack on three more runs in the fourth. It was ultimately another tough outing for the left-hander, who's failed to make it out of the fourth inning in consecutive starts. Heaney's ERA sits at 4.69 with a 1.38 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB across 10 starts (48 innings) this season. He'll be looking for his first win in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Arizona.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | CHW

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Due for extended absence

Manager Pedro Grifol didn't have a specific timeline Thursday for Jimenez's (hamstring) return, but he said it would be an extended absence, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The news of the absence being extended comes with the White Sox finding out Jimenez 's hamstring was beat up a decent amount. Grifol guessed that the absence would be a little shorter than they have been without Luis Robert. Jimenez's injury occurred when he tweaked the hamstring while running the bases in Tuesday's game in Toronto. The 27-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.

  • Luis Robert CF | CHW

White Sox's Luis Robert: Beginning assignment Tuesday

Robert (hip) will begin playing in rehab games at Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Manager Pedro Grifol didn't specify exactly how long Robert will be in the minors, saying it will be a matter of getting him enough at-bats to get his timing down. The 26-year-old outfielder is currently playing in complex-league games in Arizona and seems to be trending toward a return in mid-June.

  • Luis Castillo SP | SEA

Mariners' Luis Castillo: Falls to Yankees

Castillo (4-6) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Castillo dealt with traffic for most of his outing, he'd ultimately hold New York to a pair of solo home runs. The loss snapped a stretch of seven straight quality starts for Castillo -- he'd posted a 2.01 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 3.31 this season with a 1.21 WHIP and 69:18 K:BB over 65.1 innings. Castillo's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Astros in his next start.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYY

Yankees' Clay Holmes: Rebounds for 14th save

Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out a pair in 1.1 innings.

Holmes came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. He'd induce a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year.

  • Luis Gil SP | NYY

Yankees' Luis Gil: Continues stellar run

Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.

Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). GIl will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels.

  • Sammy Peralta RP | SEA

Mariners' Sammy Peralta: Designated for assignment

Peralta was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Seattle has scooped up Eduardo Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers and Peralta is the 40-man roster casualty. Peralta, 26, has spent all of this season at Triple-A Tacoma, putting up a 9.24 ERA and 12:8 K:BB over 12.2 frames.

  • Mariners' Eduardo Salazar: Claimed by M's

The Mariners claimed Salazar off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

After pitching two scoreless innings for the Dodgers on May 15, Salazar was optioned to Triple-A and later designated for assignment. He'll once again hold a 40-man roster spot with his new club, though he will begin his tenure with the Mariners at Triple-A Tacoma. The 26-year-old right-hander has logged a 5.61 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 33.2 innings across seven starts in the minors.
