Holmstrom scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Penguins. After setting up Brock Nelson for the Islanders' first tally of the night early in the first period, Holmstrom broke a 4-4 tie late in the third by firing the puck past Alex Nedeljkovic after the Penguins couldn't clear the zone. It's Holmstrom's first multi-point performance since Dec. 5, and while the 22-year-old winger will take a bit of momentum into the postseason, his 15 goals and 25 points through 75 games in his first full NHL campaign don't give him a lot of fantasy appeal.... Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Nets game-winner
Holmstrom scored a goal on four shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Chicago. Holmstrom broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period, punching a loose puck past Petr Mrazek for the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 Islanders victory. It's the first goal since Feb. 20 for Holmstrom -- he came into Tuesday's matchup with just three assists in his last 15 contests. Overall, the 22-year-old winger is up to 14 goals and 23 points through 70 games in a bottom-six role.... See More ... See Less -

Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Recalled Sunday
Holmstrom was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Sunday, Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News reports. Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Heads to AHL
Holmstrom was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Saturday, Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News reports. Holmstrom's demotion could amount to a paper transaction after the Islanders activated Ryan Pulock (lower body) from long-term injured reserve Saturday. If that's the case, Holmstrom could be back with the big club ahead of Monday's game versus the Maple Leafs. He has produced 18 points in 48 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -

Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Two helpers in OT loss
Holmstrom logged a pair of assists in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Sharks, Holmstrom set up Julien Gauthier's opening goal in the first period before adding a second assist on Mike Reilly's shorthanded tally in the third. The two assists are the first of the season for Holmstrom, who now has points in three straight games -- he's totaled two goals and two assists in that span after tallying five goals through his first 20 contests. While he's been limited to a bottom-six role, Holmstrom is one of the Islanders' more intriguing young options, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him work his way into a more prominent spot in the lineup....
