Smith (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. Smith began the Chiefs' week of practice with a DNP due to an illness, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue after logging a full session Thursday. Now that the 24-year-old is feeling better, he's expected to assume his usual duties as Kansas City's top right guard in the AFC Championship Game.... See More ... See Less

Chiefs' Trey Smith: Falls ill Wednesday
Smith won't practice Wednesday due to an illness, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. Smith still has a few more days before Sunday's AFC Championship Game matchup with the Ravens to get healthy, but his absence to begin the week of practice will make his status worth monitoring leading up to the contest. Though Smith is tentatively expected to be ready to handle his usual starting duties at right guard Sunday, the Chiefs are likely to be without left guard Joe Thuney, who is tending to a pectoral injury. Nick Allegretti is the most likely candidate to step in for Thuney.... See More ... See Less -
Chiefs' Trey Smith: Good to go for Week 17
Smith (calf) has no injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals. Smith was injured in last week's loss to the Raiders but made enough progress to get clearance ahead of Week 17. The 2021 sixth-rounder has started all 15 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Chiefs' Trey Smith: Dealing with calf injury
Coach Andy Reid said Monday that Smith suffered a left calf injury during the Chiefs' 20-14 loss to the Raiders, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Smith wasn't able to return Monday, but he sustained the injury late during Kansas City's loss. In the event that Smith needs to miss any time in his recovery, Nick Allegretti will be the favorite to start at right guard versus Cincinnati in Week 17.... See More ... See Less -
Chiefs' Trey Smith: Suffers injury in game
Smith exited Monday's 20-14 loss to the Raiders early with a leg injury, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Smith suffered the injury late in the contest, so his inability to return to the game doesn't give much of a clue as to how severe the issue could be. More information about his status for Week 17 likely won't be known until the team releases its first injury report later in the week.... See More ... See Less

Nate Taylor@ByNateTaylor2D agoSomething to consider for the Chiefs’ ceremony today. The entire group of players could be standing behind President Joseph Biden during his remarks, a key difference from last year, when just around 20 players were able to be on the stage behind the White House.
