Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Will miss second straight game
Davis (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday's game against the Texans.
Davis suffered a concussion during the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Steelers. He hasn't been able to practice since the injury, and he still has a number of steps ahead of him before clearing the league's concussion protocols. Davis' next chance at suiting up will be against Arizona on Sunday, Nov. 10. Jalen Mills and Isaiah Oliver will be the Jets' starting safeties Thursday due to Davis and Tony Adams (hamstring) both being ruled out.

Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Won't play Sunday
Davis (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
Davis was unable to pass through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol after sustaining the injury in the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Steelers, so it's no surprise he won't suit up Sunday. Expect Jalen Mills to see increased work in the Jets' secondary with Davis sidelined in Week 8.

Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Still sidelined
Davis (concussion) will not practice Wednesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Davis will need to pass through the league's five-step protocols before returning to play, putting his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots firmly in question. Assuming the California product is unable to suit up, Jalen Mills would be in line to start at strong safety.

Davis (head) is being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Davis went down with a head injury early in the fourth quarter, which is potentially a concussion. The safety's status for the rest of the game is up in the air, and Jalen Mills will likely handle the bulk of work at strong safety in his absence.

Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Sees increased snaps sans Clark
Davis finished Monday's 23-20 loss to the Bills with nine tackles (six solo).
Davis got an extended run at strong safety Monday after starter Chuck Clark left in the first half due to a high-ankle sprain. Davis ended the game with the second-most tackles on the Jets behind Jamien Sherwood (13), and the former played a season-high 65 snaps on defense. With Clark on injured reserve, Davis could be the Jets' starting safety for the foreseeable future alongside free safety Tony Adams.

Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Re-ups with Gang Green
Davis agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Jets, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis, a 2020 third-round pick, suited up for all 17 regular-season games with New York last season. He mainly served in a reserve role in the Jets' defensive backfield and was a core special-teams contributor, totaling 37 tackles (23 solo), eight pass breakups, three interceptions and one forced fumble.

Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Six tackles in loss
Davis had six tackles (four solo), including one tackle for loss, in Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Dolphins. He also rushed once for minus-1 yard.
The speedy Davis has had a couple of nice special-teams plays for the Jets this season, but the Dolphins sniffed out New York's fake punt and stuffed Davis in the first half. The score was only 7-0 at the time, but the failed fake punt took the air out of the Jets' sails. On the bright side, Davis set a new season high in tackles.
