Outman went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and a stolen base Tuesday in a 10-2 win against the Giants.
Batting out of the No. 9 hole, Outman reached base twice for the first time since May 4 and knocked just his second extra-base hit since April 24. It's been a struggle for the outfielder in his sophomore MLB campaign, as he's slashing a meager .155/.256/.282 with three homers, 10 RBI, two steals and a 31.6 percent strikeout rate through 117 plate appearances. He's gone 2-for-22 with 10 punchouts over eight games in May.

Outman was dropped to ninth in the batting order Monday after primarily batting in the No. 7 slot throughout the campaign, and he responded with his first long ball -- a 437-foot, two-run shot -- since April 9. It's been a struggle for Outman in his second full big-league campaign, as he's slashing a meager .169/.267/.303 and came into Monday having hit just .107 (3-for-28) over his previous nine contests. Outman may need to build upon Monday's homer with an extended run of success to continue to hold onto an everyday spot in the lineup, as rookie Andy Pages appears to have earned consistent playing time, Teoscar Hernandez is a staple in left field and veteran Jason Heyward (back) is getting closer to a return.

Outman used his legs in the fourth inning to help produce the game's first run, notching a one-out single, subsequently swiping second base and then coming home to score on a Mookie Betts single. The theft was Outman's first of the campaign in two tries after he stole 16 bags in 19 attempts as a rookie last year. The 26-year-old is off to a slow start with a .184/.286/.327 slash line through 56 plate appearances this season, but he's been trending up of late, batting .294 with both of his homers and four RBI over his past five games.

Outman was able to get ahold of four-seam fastball from Louie Varland in the top of the fourth inning, launching it 422 feet for a three-run homer.
