Parker allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Wednesday. Parker served up his first two homers of the season -- both solo shots -- in the contest, but those were the only runs he allowed. He was given the hook after throwing only 77 pitches with two outs in the sixth inning, preventing him from notching his second quality start. Despite that disappointment and the fact that he fanned only three batters, this was another positive outing for the rookie, as he's now given up two or fewer runs in four of his five appearances. Parker has made a strong impression in the majors thus far with a 2.67 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB over 27 innings through five starts.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Takes first loss
Parker (2-1) took the loss against Texas on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings. Parker had his least-effective outing through four big-league starts, giving up a season-high three runs while taking his first career loss. The southpaw still managed to keep Washington within striking distance, but the Nationals' offense failed to scratch against four Rangers pitchers. Parker's ERA is still a commendable 2.53, and it's supported by a strong 1.08 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB through 21.1 frames.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Permits one run over four frames
Parker took a no-decision in Saturday's win over the Marlins, permitting one run on six hits and two walks over four innings. The Marlins made Parker work, particularly in the first inning when he gave up two singles, walked two and allowed a run on a wild pitch. He needed 82 pitches to cover his four frames, ultimately costing him what would have been an easy win. It was easily the least impressive of Parker's three starts so far in the majors, but he still managed to give up just the one run. The lefty's next start is tentatively slated to come on the road versus the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Dominates Astros for second win
Parker (2-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing no runs on three hits over seven innings against the Astros. He struck out eight. Parker needed only 73 pitches to shut down the Astros through seven, scattering three singles and only allowing one baserunner to reach second base. Parker has allowed just two runs on seven hits with no walks and 12 strikeouts over 12 innings in his first two career starts against the Dodgers and Astros, winning both decisions. It's tough to envision the Nationals removing Parker from the rotation following two-consecutive impressive performances, especially with Josiah Gray (elbow) currently on the shelf. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next weekend when the Nationals travel to Miami to take on the struggling Marlins.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Draws another start
Parker is slated to start Sunday's game against the Astros at Nationals Park, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Parker was able to limit a tough Dodgers lineup to two runs on four hits and no walks over five innings Monday in his big-league debut, so it comes as little surprise that he'll be rewarded for his efforts with another turn through the rotation. If he continues to perform well, Parker will have a path to sticking in the rotation on a long-term basis with Josiah Gray (elbow) facing an uncertain timeline to return from the 15-day injured list.... Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Beats Dodgers in big-league debut
Parker (1-0) earned the win Monday in the Nationals' 6-4 win over the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over five innings. Parker was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Monday afternoon and faced the daunting task of going up against a loaded Dodgers lineup in his first major-league outing. The 24-year-old southpaw handled the task with aplomb, allowing just four baserunners and limiting Los Angeles to a pair of runs to nab the win. Given his successful debut, Parker will likely remain in the rotation for the time being with Josiah Gray on the 15-day injured list due to a right flexor strain.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Recalled from Rochester
The Nationals recalled Parker from Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Parker started in one game for Rochester, tossing four scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and five strikeouts. The 24-year-old left-hander will make his major-league debut Monday against a formidable Dodgers lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Set to make major-league debut
Parker is expected to be called up from Triple-A Rochester to start Monday's game versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Parker will toe the rubber against a loaded Dodgers lineup, joining the major-league roster after tossing four scoreless innings while striking out five batters in his only start at Triple-A this season. The 24-year-old was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft, and he's geared up to make his debut less than four years later.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Moves to High-A
Parker was promoted to High-A Wilmington on Monday, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports. Parker was Washington's fifth-round pick in 2020. He's displayed the strikeout stuff the Nationals were hoping to see, having fanned 85 while posting a 4.08 ERA across 57.1 innings with Low-A Fredericksburg. He'll look to continue punching out batters at a high rate with Wilmington.... See More ... See Less

Dan Kolko@masnKolko9H agoWhat a fun series. The O’s have the best record in the AL, and the Nationals went toe-to-toe with ‘em for 21 innings. Great theater. Lot to be proud of for Davey and his staff. Being disappointed you didn’t get both of those games is a sign things are turning for this Nats team.

Mark Zuckerman@MarkZuckerman14H agoKeibert Ruiz has been mired in the worst slump of his career since returning from the flu. The Nationals believe the best way to help him snap out of it is to keep playing him. https://t.co/gSxCcyRSnZ

I don’t like that.”
