Giants' Tyler Rogers: Blows save, suffers first loss
Rogers (0-1) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch while only recording one out against the Mets.
Rogers was filling in for a resting Camilo Doval, who had pitched the previous two games of the series. It was the second time in four days Rogers was called upon to fill in for the Giants' regular closer, but Sunday's outing was not nearly as successful as Thursday's, blowing the save and allowing the Mets to walk it off after entering the ninth with a two-run lead. Rogers' ERA ballooned by over a run, from 2.19 entering the game to 3.24 following the outing.

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Grabs save Thursday
Rogers earned the save in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates, working around a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
Rogers was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth, with Camilo Doval having pitched three times in the last four days. The Pirates would get a couple of baserunners via an error and a Bryan Reynolds single, but Rogers would ultimately escape unscathed, securing his first save this season. The 33-year-old sidearmer has put together solid start to the campaign -- his ERA is down to 2.19 with a 0.97 WHIP and 16:0 K:BB across 24.2 innings. While Doval is firmly established as the closer in San Francisco, Rogers is the clear No. 2 option.

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Earns sixth hold
Rogers picked up a hold by pitching a perfect eighth inning in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Red Sox.
As expected, Rogers has served as a setup man for the Giants this year. He's pitched fairly well with a 2.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB over 13.2 innings while adding six holds in 15 appearances. He's yet to pick up a save, as closer Camilo Doval has yet to miss out on a save opportunity. Rogers' lack of a high strikeout rate limits his appeal in most fantasy formats, though it's encouraging that the submariner has avoided issuing free passes so far.

Rogers is set to resume his role as a setup man in 2024. He's recorded 85 holds and 18 saves over the last four seasons. Rogers had a 3.04 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 60:19 K:BB over 74 innings in 2023 as one of the Giants' most-used relievers. The submariner doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he rarely gives up hard contact. Pitching at Oracle Park half the time will usually help to keep the ball in the yard on the rare occasions opposing hitters can square one up.

Rogers did his job with a scoreless seventh inning, but manager Gabe Kapler sent him back out for the eighth. Eddie Rosario took Rogers deep for a two-run home run that flipped the game around, handing the submariner his fifth blown save of the year, four of which have come in his last 11 appearances. In that span, the right-hander has given up seven runs over 11.2 innings. The game resumed Tuesday, and Rogers did his part to keep it tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning before the Giants pulled ahead in the 10th. Rogers (1-4) pitched a perfect inning and struck out one to earn the extra-inning win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
The Giants were down to their last out at one point, but Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run home run to tie it in the ninth inning. Rogers kept it tied, and the team rallied again in the 10th. Rogers has strung together 8.1 consecutive scoreless innings, and it's been 12.2 frames since he last gave up an earned run. He's worked as a setup man to great effect with a 1.65 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 25:11 K:BB, 13 holds, two saves and a blown save over 32.2 innings this season. His 3.0 BB/9 and 3.63 FIP are both the worst marks of his career, however, which suggests he could see some regression.

Rogers appeared in both games in Mexico City this weekend, and he took the loss in each of those contests. He put two of the three batters he faced on base Sunday, and Camilo Doval was unable to get out of the jam. Rogers now has a 2.93 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings. He'll certainly enjoy getting back to sea level soon, though a three-game stop in Houston starts Monday before the Giants are back home at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park over the weekend.

Rogers (0-1) gave up two runs on three hits and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning, taking the loss Saturday versus the Padres.
The game was played at altitude in Mexico City, making this a pitcher's worst nightmare. Rogers was the unlucky one who gave up a two-run home run to Manny Machado in the seventh inning, which put the Padres ahead for good. Rogers had allowed just one run over 14.1 innings prior to Saturday, and he has a still-solid 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with a 13:3 K:BB through 12 appearances this season. Rogers doesn't strike out many batters with his sidearm delivery, so that's not a concern, but the increase in walks is a bit troublesome. He posted a 5.8 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 across 75.2 innings in a setup role last season, which also saw him earn 15 holds but no saves. The right-hander will compete with his twin brother, Taylor Rogers, for high-leverage spots, though Camilo Doval is locked in as the Giants' closer to begin the season.

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Settles at $1.675 million
Rogers signed a one-year, $1.675 million contract with the Giants on Friday to avoid arbitration, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
While not nearly as effective as he was in 2021, Rogers still had a 3.57 ERA over 68 appearances in 2022. In 2023 he'll be a teammate of his twin brother, Taylor Rogers, who signed with the Giants last month.

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Follows opener for win
Rogers (3-4) earned the win during Tuesday's 6-3 victory against the Rockies, allowing one hit and striking out in two scoreless innings.
Rogers followed opener John Brebbia with two easy frames and fell in line for the win after San Francisco took the lead in the bottom of the third. The 31-year-old has been relegated to bullpen games and low-leverage usage since struggling through most of July and August and has responded by submitting 10.1 scoreless innings across six September appearances. At 4.01, Rogers' ERA is the lowest it's been since he sat with a 3.78 mark on May 20.
