    Schanuel (thumb) is absent from the Angels' lineup Saturday versus the Mariners, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

    Schanuel was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Friday's 5-4 loss and he'll once again take a seat Saturday. Willie Calhoun will slot in a first base for a second straight game, batting fourth against Seattle.

    Paris will remain on the bench for a second game in a row Saturday. Luis Rengifo will slide over to second base while Luis Guillorme draws another start at third base and bats ninth against the Mariners.

    O'Hoppe is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Mariners, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

    O'Hoppe will get a breather after he went 2-for-15 with two solo home runs and three runs scored while starting the last four contests. Matt Thaiss will draw the start at catcher and bat sixth against Seattle.

    Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: MRI shows no structural damage

    Romano (elbow) had an MRI on his right elbow Friday night, which didn't reveal any structural damage, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his throwing elbow, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. The 31-year-old will be shut down from throwing for a few days before Toronto will determine what direction the team will go in from there. Yimi Garcia is considered the frontrunner to operate as the closer for the Blue Jays in Romano's absence.

    Royals' Brady Singer: Eyeing Wednesday return

    Singer (illness) is feeling better but still needs a few days to recover strength, potentially slotting in to start Wednesday in Cleveland according to manager Matt Quatraro, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

    Singer was scratched from his last scheduled start Thursday versus the Twins due to an illness, but he now appears to be on track to return to the mound relatively soon. The right-hander is in the midst of a career year with Kansas City, producing a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 64 strikeouts over 61.2 innings in his first 11 starts of 2024.

    White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Nursing injured finger

    Vaughn is dealing with a sprained left ring finger, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

    Vaughn was set to be absent from Chicago's starting lineup again Saturday and manager Pedro Grifol announced that the 26-year-old is dealing with the finger injury. Grifol said Vaughn will miss 3-to-5 days, with Saturday's contest being the third.

    Athletics' Luis Medina: Expected to start Sunday

    Medina (knee) is slated to start Sunday's series finale with Atlanta, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

    Medina has missed the entirety of the 2024 campaign to this point while recovering from a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his right knee that he suffered March 4 at spring training. The 25-year-old made two starts with Triple-A Las Vegas on a rehab assignment, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over six innings. He'll be tasked with facing one of the best lineups in Atlanta on Sunday in his first major-league start of the year.
