  • Mariners' Mitch Garver: Drives in run in return

Garver (back) went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the Orioles on Friday.

Garver was back in the lineup after missing the last two games with back spasms, and he delivered the first run of the contest with his first-inning single. The veteran offseason addition now has seven RBI in May and has reached safely in eight of the last 10 games, but he's still carrying an abysmal .176/.286/.344 slash line across 147 plate appearances on the season.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Keeps hitting ball hard Friday

Moore went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run in a loss to the Orioles on Friday.

Moore's penchant for hard contact was on display again Friday, with his double and homer pushing his extra-base hit rate to a stellar 52.2 percent (12 XBH out of 23 total hits) across 117 plate appearances. The veteran utility man has reached safely in five of his last seven contests, and he's now generated a trio of multi-hit efforts in the last nine games overall.

  • Mariners' Bryce Miller: Can't overcome rough first inning

Miller (3-4) took the loss Friday against the Orioles, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out one.

All of the damage against Miller came in the first inning, when the Orioles put up five runs before the right-hander could record an out. Miller would settle in and blank Baltimore over his final 4.1 frames, allowing just two more hits, though the Mariners couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 9-2 defeat. The 24-year-old Miller has been solid this year overall, holding opponents to two runs or fewer in six of his nine starts. He sports a 3.08 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB across 52.2 innings this season. Miller is currently lined up for a tough road matchup with the Yankees in his next outing.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Has clubhouse locker, not with team

Crawford (oblique/hand) didn't travel with the team to Baltimore but still has a locker in the Mariners' clubhouse, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The veteran shortstop was hit by a pitch on the hand during a rehab game Wednesday, and he's experienced some swelling and soreness. Crawford has yet to join the team, but the fact he has a locker could indicate he still may return from the injured list this weekend.

  • Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Misses lineup

Polanco (hamstring) isn't in the Mariners' lineup Friday at Baltimore.

Polanco will miss a third straight game with right hamstring soreness. Once again, Josh Rojas will slide to second base while Luis Urias starts at third.

  • Mariners' Mitch Garver: Back in lineup

Garver (back) is batting third and is the designated hitter for Friday's game against Baltimore.

Garver was scratched Tuesday with back spasms and was forced to miss Wednesday's contest due to the issue. However, he'll be back in action for Friday's series opener against the Orioles. In May, Garver is batting .243 with two homers across 45 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Timeline to return unclear

Crawford (oblique/hand) didn't travel with the team to Baltimore, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford was hit by a pitch in the hand during a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday and was still sore and swollen one day later. He doesn't have a clear timeline to return, and he managed only six plate appearances with Triple-A Tacoma prior to the new injury.

  • Mariners' Jonny Farmelo: Heating up for Modesto

Farmelo is hitting .368 with a .500 OBP, three doubles, four steals and an 11:9 K:BB in his last 10 games for Single-A Modesto.

The athletic center fielder has a 133 wRC+, 17.2 percent walk rate and a 24.6 percent strikeout rate in 28 games after failing to make his pro debut last year after getting drafted with the 29th overall pick. Farmelo turns 20 in September, and it would make sense for him to get a bump to High-A Everett in the coming weeks.

  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Records third steal Wednesday

Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Doubles in IL return

Canzone (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Activated from the injured list earlier in the day, Canzone helped give the Mariners some key breathing room by doubling in the seventh and then coming home with Seattle's third run. Canzone was seeing his first big-league game action in just over a month, having last played April 14. Now apparently back to full health after playing a full game in left field Wednesday, Canzone should be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching moving forward.

  • Mariners' Ty France: Another homer in Wednesday's win

France went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

France's 414-foot shot to left center in the fourth inning extended the Mariners' lead to 2-0 and served as his second round-tripper in the last three games. France has also hit safely in all three of those contests, but both his .243 average and .295 on-base percentage are at their lowest points since his rookie campaign in 2019.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Delivers five-out save Wednesday

Munoz gave up a hit and struck out three over 1.2 scoreless innings Wednesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Royals.

Austin Voth ran into trouble in the eighth inning, so Munoz got the call with runners on second and third and only one out to protect a 3-1 lead. The Mariners' closer did allow an inherited runner to score, but Seattle got the run right back in the bottom of the frame and Munoz dominated the ninth. It's the fourth time this season he's worked more than one inning to notch a save, and with Matt Brash (elbow) done for the year and Gregory Santos (lat) potentially not back until the All-Star break, Munoz may have to continue putting in extra work until Seattle settles on a new setup crew.

  • Mariners' Bryan Woo: Sharp in first win

Woo (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Royals, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander pounded the zone, firing 60 of his 79 pitches for strikes, but after five scoreless innings Woo ran out of gas in the sixth and left the mound with runners on the corners and one out, clinging to a 2-1 lead. Gabe Speier was able to escape the jam, however, and the Seattle bullpen took care of the rest. Woo has been impressive in two starts since making his belated season debut, giving up just one run in 9.2 innings with an 8:2 K:BB, but he faces a tough test in his next outing -- a road start at Yankee Stadium early next week.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Hand injury considered minor

The Mariners aren't concerned about Crawford's (oblique) right hand/wrist after he was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game at Triple-A Tacoma, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Crawford's HBP forced him to make an early exit from Wednesday's minor-league game, but it appears he managed to escape the incident with no significant damage. The 29-year-old was expected to return from the IL ahead of Seattle's upcoming series versus the Orioles, though it remains unknown if those plans have changed as a result of his sore hand.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Exits rehab game after HBP

Crawford (oblique) was removed from his rehab game at Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday after getting hit in the hand by a pitch.

Crawford was visibly in pain after taking a 90-mph fastball off his right hand/wrist and was immediately taken out of the game by a trainer. He has been working his way back from a right oblique strain he suffered in late April, and Wednesday was expected to be his final appearance in the minors before rejoining the Mariners for their weekend series in Baltimore. However, the 29-year-old shortstop's return may be postponed if the damage to his hand proves to be significant.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Eyeing weekend return

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Crawford (oblique) will play another rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma before likely returning from the 10-day injured list ahead of this weekend's series in Baltimore, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Crawford, who has been on the shelf since April 25 with a Grade 1 right oblique strain, kicked off his rehab assignment Tuesday, going 1-for-4 in Tacoma's 8-5 win over Salt Lake while playing seven innings at shortstop. Assuming Crawford feels fine physically coming out of his second rehab outing, he should be ready to rejoin the big club this weekend and settle back in as the team's everyday shortstop. Dylan Moore will shift back into a utility role once Crawford is back with the team.

  • Mariners' Mitch Garver: Out Wednesday with back spasms

Garver (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

He'll remain on the bench for the second day in a row while he manages upper-back spasms. Mitch Haniger will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Mariners' designated hitter while Garver rests up.
