Cannon is listed as the White Sox's probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The 23-year-old was recalled by Chicago and recorded a three-inning save Friday against Boston, and his next appearance will come as a starter. Cannon started in his three previous outings for the White Sox this season but struggled with 11 runs allowed and a 13:4 K:BB over 13.2 innings.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Earns save Friday
Cannon allowed three hits over three scoreless innings Friday, striking out four and picking up a save against Boston. Cannon entered the game with a 6-2 lead and threw 41 of 60 pitches for strikes on his way to earning his first MLB save. He was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and made his first big-league appearance out of the bullpen after starting three games for the White Sox in April. Cannon was expected to be a back-end rotation piece after the promotion, but he could be used in more of a long relief role for the time being. He owns a 5.94 ERA with a 17:4 K:BB through 16.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Back in big leagues
The White Sox recalled Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The right-hander is taking the roster spot vacated by Jake Woodford and also seems likely to take Woodford's spot in the White Sox rotation. Cannon has posted a 7.24 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings covering three starts at the major-league level this season.... See More ... See Less -

The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. Cannon's first stint in the big leagues lasted three turns through the rotation, with the rookie right-hander going 0-1 with a 7.24 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings across those starts. The White Sox have a day off Thursday and could get by with a four-man rotation until Mike Clevinger is fully stretched out for starting duty and ready to make his season debut, which could come as soon as next Sunday.... White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Lit up for six runs
Cannon dropped to 0-1 on the season in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Twins, allowing six runs on nine hits and one walk over 3.2 innings while striking out five. Minnesota jumped on Cannon early, plating two runs in the first inning and three more in the third. His day was ended by an RBI double from Edouard Julien in the fourth. Cannon produced a solid MLB debut against the Royals but saw his ERA shoot up to 7.27 after Monday's tough outing. Should he get another turn in the rotation, he's lined up to face the Rays at home this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Debut postponed due to rain
Cannon and the White Sox won't play against the Royals on Tuesday since the game was postponed due to rain. Cannon had his contract selected earlier Tuesday and was poised to make his MLB debut, but Mother Nature had other ideas. The game will be made up via a straight doubleheader Wednesday, and Cannon will start the earlier of the two games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Officially promoted for MLB debut
The White Sox selected Cannon's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Cannon has made two starts so far in the minors, allowing three earned runs across 9.2 innings while striking out 11 batters and walking five. He will start Tuesday's game against the Royals, though the 23-year-old righty will most likely be sent back to Charlotte after making his MLB debut.
