Mendick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Though he started at second base in Tuesday's 7-6 loss while the lefty-hitting Nicky Lopez was out of the lineup versus Cubs southpaw Shota Imanaga, Mendick finds himself on the bench for the second matchup in a row with a right-hander. Mendick looked as though he could get a look in an everyday role at third base after Bryan Ramos was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte last week, but Lenyn Sosa appears to have since settled in as the primary option at the hot corner.... White Sox's Danny Mendick: Should have regular role
Mendick went 2-for-4 with a stolen base Saturday against the Brewers. Mendick is expected to have a regular role in the White Sox's lineup after Bryan Ramos was sent to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. However, Mendick started at second base Saturday and notched his sixth multi-hit appearance of the season as well as his second stolen base. He is unlikely to hit for much average thanks to a 29.3 percent strikeout rate, though he could be a decent source of homers and steals in deeper formats so long as he keeps seeing consistent playing time.... White Sox's Danny Mendick: Pops pinch-hit homer
Mendick hit a solo home run in his only plate appearance Sunday against the Orioles. Mendick continues to lose out on playing time due to the return of Bryan Ramos, though he accounted for the White Sox's only run Sunday after his homer in the eighth inning. It was Mendick's second home run of the season and first since April 30.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: On bench Wednesday
Mendick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. After being activated from the injured list Friday, Mendick had started at third base in each of the White Sox's ensuing five games, going 3-for-18 with two doubles and two RBI. Mendick should have a fairly clear path to regular playing time at the hot corner while Bryan Ramos (quadricep) is on the shelf, but he'll give way to Zach Remillard in Wednesday's series finale.... White Sox's Danny Mendick: Drives in two
Mendick went 2-for-4 with a single and a two-run double during Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jays. Mendick entered Tuesday's contest 1-for-14 (.071) in four games since coming off the IL. The 30-year-old delivered a two-run double in the eighth inning off Tim Mayza to provide the White Sox with some insurance runs. Mendick has been serving as the White Sox's everyday third baseman with Bryan Ramos (quad) sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Activated from IL
Mendick (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday. Mendick was placed on the injured list in early May with back soreness and only needed two rehab starts before being activated. During those two Triple-A games, Mendick went 0-for-8 with two walks and a run scored. He'll replace Braden Shewmake on the big-league roster and could see immediate action at third base with Bryan Ramos also headed to the 10-day IL with a strained left quad.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Nearing rehab assignment
Mendick (back) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Mendick will begin a rehab assignment in the next day or two according to manager Pedro Grifol. The 30-year-old has been out since May 2 with lower-back tightness, but he appears to be on track to return to the major-league roster in the near future.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Lands on injured list
The White Sox placed Mendick on the 10-day injured list Saturday with lower-back tightness, retroactive to Thursday. Mendick's back issues caused him to be scratched from the lineup prior to Friday's game, and they will now officially cost him more than a week as he heads to the IL. Bryan Ramos was recalled from Double-A Birmingham in a corresponding move and could receive the majority of reps at third base while Mendick is sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Battling back tightness
Mendick was scratched from the White Sox's lineup for Friday's game against St. Louis due to lower-back tightness, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The severity of Mendick's injury remains unknown, but it is apparently enough to prevent him from starting Friday's contest. Braden Shewmake will serve as Chicago's third baseman while batting ninth.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Scratched Friday
Mendick was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cardinals for unspecified reasons. Mendick was slated to bat seventh and play third base but was moved out of the lineup for reasons yet to be disclosed. Instead, Braden Shewmake will play third and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Belts first homer
Mendick went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double during Tuesday's loss to the Twins. Mendick has never been known to be a power hitter, but his two-run shot in the fifth inning gave Chicago a 4-2 lead over the Twins in a game the White Sox would eventually lose. The 30-year-old infielder has now collected a hit in four of his last five games and is slashing .286/.324/.457 across 37 plate appearances since joining the Sox on April 22.... See More ... White Sox's Danny Mendick: Hitting well
Mendick went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Friday against Tampa Bay. Mendick joined the White Sox on Monday and has started every game since. He's hit at different spots in the order, but was slotted into the seventh spot Friday and is likely to remain in the bottom third with the addition of Tommy Pham. Mendick has gone 6-for-21 with two doubles, a stolen base and four runs scored, though he is striking out at a 31.8 percent clip.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Officially added to roster
The White Sox selected Mendick's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Mendick had been swinging a hot bat with Charlotte, having homered in five straight games. It's a power surge that's sure to slow in the majors given that the 30-year-old has slugged just 11 career home runs over 184 contests at the big-league level, but Mendick nonetheless will probably be in line to see regular action in the infield for Chicago in the short term. He'll start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's series opener in Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Can't secure roster spot
Mendick will not make the White Sox's Opening Day roster, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Mendick was in camp on a minor-league deal and has maintained just a .614 OPS with three extra-base hits across 41 at-bats. The team will instead opt to keep Braden Shewmake on the roster, who should fill a utility role along the infield.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Will be in White Sox's camp
Mendick signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training. It's a return to the South Side for Mendick, who spent the first four seasons of his big-league career with the White Sox before putting up a .509 OPS in 33 games for the Mets in 2023. The utility man will attempt to win a reserve role.... See More ... See Less -
Danny Mendick: Opts for free agency
Mendick elected free agency Tuesday. Mendick went unclaimed on waivers after being pushed off the Mets' 40-man roster last week. The 30-year-old infielder slashed just .185/.232/.277 with one homer and one steal over 33 major-league games in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Danny Mendick: Booted from 40-man
The Mets placed Mendick on outright waivers Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Mendick slashed just .185/.232/.277 during his time with the Mets, and he'll now join five other teammates on the waiver wire as the team clears space on its 40-man roster. The 32-year-old infielder can elect free agency if he clears waivers.... See More ... See Less -

The Mets recalled Mendick from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday. Mendick will provide depth off the bench after Jeff McNeil (elbow) was shut down for the final four games. Mendick, 30, has batted just .190/.227/.286 across 66 major-league plate appearances this year.... See More ... See Less -

Mets' Danny Mendick: Enjoys big offensive effort Monday
Mendick went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and scored an additional run in an 11-2 rout of the Cubs on Monday. Pete Alonso powered the Mets with two homers early, and Mendick provided the icing on the cake with a three-run shot in the seventh inning that made the score 10-2. The long ball was the first of the campaign for Mendick and just his 11th in 440 career at-bats. The 29-year-old started at third base Monday in the wake of Brett Baty being sent down to the minors, and Mendick could operate in the short side of a platoon with Mark Vientos at the hot corner moving forward....
