Tauchman went 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 7-6 loss to the Cardinals. Tauchman has three multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, going 9-for-33 (.273) in that span. His steal Saturday was his fourth of the season, three of which have come in May. The 33-year-old is slashing a fine .263/.376/.410 with four home runs, 16 RBI, 30 runs scored, nine doubles and a triple over 186 plate appearances. Tauchman is in a strong-side platoon role, but he's hitting leadoff against right-handed pitchers.... See More ... See Less

Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Sitting against lefty
Tauchman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. The lefty-hitting Tauchman will retreat to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Max Fried takes the hill for Atlanta. He'll indirectly cede his spot in the lineup to infielder Nick Madrigal, who draws the start at third base while Christopher Morel replaces Tauchman as the Cubs' designated hitter.... See More ... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Productive from leadoff spot
Tauchman went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's 4-3, extra-inning win over Atlanta. Tauchman served as the leadoff hitter and DH in this one, and he continued his solid play, pushing his average to .262 and his OPS to .789. The veteran is seeing regular time at DH and in right field, with Seiya Suzuki also in the mix for both spots. Tauchman isn't the most exciting fantasy option, but he's worth a look in deeper formats given his role and production.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Goes deep in Wednesday's win
Tauchman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta. Tauchman was effective from the leadoff spot as he delivered his fourth home run of the season and first since April 28. The veteran started in left field in this one with Ian Happ getting the night off, but the Cubs now have a crowded outfield that features Tauchman, Happ, Cody Bellinger, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong. This could push Tauchman to the bench on a frequent basis, though the team seems intent on getting him regular playing time, and he's earned it with a strong .821 OPS so far.... See More ... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Doubles, scores in loss
Tauchman went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mets. Tauchman had half of Chicago's hits in the sluggish loss, pushing his season average up to .307 in the process. With Seiya Suzuki (oblique) and Cody Bellinger (ribs) both on the injured list, Tauchman has seen plenty of playing time recently, and the veteran has responded. He should remain a solid short-term fantasy asset, though his long-term outlook is a bit murkier, as it depends on how quickly the other outfielders are able to return to the lineup.... See More ... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Provides clutch three-run homer
Tauchman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. Tauchman instilled some life in the Cubs, as he was able to tie the game up with a three-run homer in the eighth off of Chris Martin. The 33-year-old has been the Cubs' best hitter over the last week and a half, slashing .400/.500/.743 with three homers, nine RBI, eight runs and a 6:8 BB:K over 11 games since April 17. The Cubs will have a crowded outfield once they get the likes of Cody Bellinger (ribs) and Seiya Suzuki (oblique) back from their respective injuries, but for now Tauchman is seizing his opportunity as an everyday player.... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Records two hits off bench
Tauchman went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 8-3 win over the Marlins. Tauchman entered the game as a pinch hitter for Nick Madrigal in the fifth inning, and he responded with his second straight multi-hit performance. Ian Happ was also lifted from this game in the seventh with hamstring tightness and was replaced by Alexander Canario. If Happ has to miss any time moving forward, Tauchman is an option to fill in there, though he'd likely continue to sit against southpaws.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Sitting versus southpaw
Tauchman is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks. Tauchman will take a seat as Chicago will square off with left-hander Tommy Henry on the mound for Arizona on Tuesday. Righty bat Alexander Canario will take over in right field and bat ninth against the Diamondbacks.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Playing time on upswing
Tauchman will start in left field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Padres. Tauchman will be making his third start in four games after reaching base four times (one double, one single and two walks) over his prior two starts. At least while he continues to show a solid approach at the plate, Tauchman looks like he'll be prioritized ahead of Nick Madrigal for the final spot in the Cubs' regular lineup versus right-handed pitching.... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Sitting again Saturday
Tauchman isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. Tauchman will sit for the second game in a row Saturday despite the Dodgers sending out right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto to start on the bump. Nick Madrigal will fill the open spot in the Cubs' lineup, batting eighth while starting at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Sitting versus lefty
Tauchman isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports. The lefty-hitting Tauchman will begin Tuesday's game in the dugout as the Rockies send southpaw Kyle Freeland to the mound. Seiya Suzuki will start in right field while Christopher Morel serves as the DH.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Not starting Thursday
Tauchman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports. Tauchman was a candidate to serve as the Cubs' DH on Opening Day, but Christopher Morel will get the nod instead with Nick Madrigal starting at third base. Tauchman slashed .252/.363/.377 across 401 plate appearances last season and will operate as Chicago's fourth outfielder to begin the new season.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Roster spot safe
Manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that Tauchman will be included on the Cubs' Opening Day roster, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. It's not a major surprise given the veteran outfielder had a solid .740 OPS in 108 games for Chicago last season, but it's still worth noting given Cody Bellinger was recently re-signed. Tauchman is poised to served as the Cubs' fourth outfielder and isn't likely to have much fantasy utility in that role.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Avoids arbitration
Tauchman signed a one-year, $1.95 million contract with the Cubs on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. Tauchman slashed .252/.363/.377 with 48 RBI across 401 plate appearances during his first season with the Cubs, earning a $1.23 million raise in the process. He'll likely begin the season as Chicago's primary center fielder, though the impending arrival of Pete Crow-Armstrong could eventually put a dent into Tauchman's playing time.... See More ... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Not in Saturday's lineup
Tauchman will not start Saturday's game against the Brewers, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. The veteran outfielder maintained a surprisingly solid .746 OPS in 81 games through the end of August, but his OPS sits at just .693 in September. With lefty Eric Lauer on the mound for Milwaukee, Tauchman will hit the bench in favor of Patrick Wisdom, who starts at first base, pushing Cody Bellinger to Tauchman's usual spot in center field.... Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Idle against lefty
Tauchman isn't in the Cubs' lineup Sunday against Colorado, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports. Tauchman will retreat to the bench as left-hander Ty Blach prepares to start on the mound Sunday. Alexander Canario will instead get the nod in center field and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Sitting versus lefty
Tauchman is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Pirates. Cody Bellinger will start in center field and bat third with the Pirates throwing left-hander Bailey Falter. Patrick Wisdom is playing first base and batting eighth. The left-handed-hitting Tauchman has slashed .239/.327/.370 in 53 plate appearances this year versus southpaws.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: On bench Tuesday
Tauchman is not in the lineup Tuesday at Colorado. Pete Crow-Armstrong will start in center field and hit eighth against the Rockies and right-hander Chris Flexen as Christopher Morel occupies the DH role and bats leadoff. Tauchman has gone 2-for-17 with five walks and five strikeouts over his last eight games.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Not in Sunday's lineup
Tauchman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. Tauchman started the past three games but will head to the bench Sunday after going 0-for-9 with three walks and a run during that stretch. Cody Bellinger will move out to center field while Jeimer Candelario handles first base and Christopher Morel leads off at designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Mike Tauchman: Out of lineup Wednesday
Tauchman is not in the Cubs' starting lineup Wednesday against the Giants. Left-hander Alex Wood is starting for the Giants, so Tauchman will be on the bench. Cody Bellinger will shift to center field and Patrick Wisdom will be inserted into the lineup at first base.... See More ... See Less
