Jones worked primarily as a starter last season, though that was largely due to Dallis Flowers suffering an Achilles injury in Week 4. Flowers has returned to the field, but Jones has nonetheless been getting work with the Colts' defensive starters during OTAs. It's possible that Jones will be able to retain his starting role following a strong rookie campaign during which he tallied 44 tackles (33 solo) and five defensed passes over 17 regular-season contests.

The 2023 seventh-round pick was thrust into a starting role early in his NFL career due to a season-ending injury to Dallis Flowers (Achilles), and by Week 8 he was handling more than 90 percent of defensive snaps. Jones had one total tackle while playing six snaps on defense in Sunday's overtime loss to the Rams. He's a candidate to take over a starting cornerback role with Dallis Flowers' season-ending Achilles injury, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Jones had played just one snap on defense in Week 1 before Sunday. The 2023 seventh-round draft pick will compete with Darrell Baker to fill the void caused by Flowers' absence. Baker was a healthy scratch the last two weeks after struggling in his first two games.
