Twins' Brock Stewart: Gets PRP injection for shoulder
Twins athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said Tuesday that Stewart didn't resume throwing this past weekend as anticipated and has since received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his right shoulder, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. "We have to get his arm strength where it needs to be," Paparesta said of Stewart. "We have to get his range of motion where it needs to be ... But we hope to see him throwing here in the short term."
Paparesta admitted that he might have initially been overzealous with his prediction that Stewart would start throwing again last weekend, but the right-hander doesn't seem to have suffered any major setback in his recovery from tendinitis. Once the injection takes full effect within the next few days, Stewart could start playing catch before gradually advancing to throwing off a mound and facing hitters. When he returns from the 15-day injured list, Stewart will be a key part of the bridge to closer Jhoan Duran.

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Produces lone run
Jeffers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees.
Jeffers gave Minnesota the lead with a solo homer as the team's first batter of the game. However, they wouldn't score another run following Jeffers' round-tripper and Jeffers himself struck out in his final three plate appearances. The catcher has hit double-digit homers in 2024 and is on pace to smash his career high of 14 long balls.

Twins' Chris Paddack: Rocked by Yankees
Paddack (4-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing five runs on 12 hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out four.
Paddack couldn't get much by the Yankees on Tuesday, tying his career high in hits allowed while all nine NYY batters generated a hit. The poor showing was a surprise considering Paddack was victorious in his previous four starts -- allowing five runs across 23.1 innings with two 10-strikeout games. Paddack has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his eight starts but owns a 4.89 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP over 42.1 innings. He's lined up to face the Guardians in Cleveland on Sunday.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Cleared for running
Lewis (quadricep) did some light running on the field Tuesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Twins head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta described the upcoming week as a big one for Lewis when it comes to his recovery from the right quad strain that has kept him out since he suffered the injury Opening Day. Lewis will gradually ramp up the intensity of his running this week while incorporating more change-of-direction work into his training regimen. Depending on how Lewis responds to the running work, he could be cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next weekend. In addition to running, Lewis has been fielding grounders and hitting.

Twins' Justin Topa: Dealing with small tear in knee
Topa underwent an MRI on Tuesday that revealed a 25 percent tear in his left patellar tendon, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He'll be immobilized for the next week before he beginning his ramp-up program.
After getting a second opinion on the knee injury, Topa elected to forgo surgery in lieu of a platelet-rich plasma injection. He's currently using crutches and will wait for the shot to take full effect over the next week before kicking off his rehab program. Topa had felt discomfort in his knee following the fourth appearance of his rehab assignment May 5 with Triple-A St. Paul and had his timeline for making his season debut pushed back as a result. Since Topa is unlikely to be ready to pitch until early June in a best-case scenario, he could be a candidate to shift to the 60-day injured list when the Twins need to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for another player.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Rehab games required
Buxton (knee) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment later this week before being activated from the 10-day injured list, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Buxton is eligible to return from the IL on Tuesday, but the Twins want to give him some time to get in some minor-league at-bats before summoning him to the big leagues. He shouldn't be in line for an extended rehab assignment, so fantasy managers can expect Buxton to return from the IL as soon as this weekend.

Twins' Gabriel Gonzalez: Goes on High-A injured list
High-A Cedar Rapids placed Gonzalez on its 7-day injured list Wednesday with a low-back strain, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
Gonzalez hadn't played since May 1 due to the injury before Cedar Rapids elected to deactivate him. The 20-year-old outfielder, who was acquired in the January deal that sent infielder Jorge Polanco to Seattle, is hitting .265 with a home run and two stolen bases across 73 plate appearances for Cedar Rapids on the season.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Could be activated Tuesday
Buxton (knee) ran the bases at Target Field on Saturday, and the Twins are optimistic he can be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The Twins have an off day Monday, but it sounds like Buxton will return when the team begins a series at home Tuesday against the Yankees. Buxton will run again Tuesday to test his knee before the game.

Twins' Edouard Julien: Two hits, swipes bag Sunday
Julien went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Julien led the game off with a single and added another base knock in the top of the eighth, stealing second base and scoring on an RBI double by Max Kepler in the frame. The stolen base was his fifth of the season and third over the last four games. Julien is now batting .224 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, 21 runs scored and five stolen bases over 125 at-bats in 40 games this year.

Twins' Carlos Santana: Stays hot Sunday
Santana went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Santana took Toronto's starter Alek Manoah deep for a three-run shot in the top of the seventh inning, breaking a 0-0 tie. The homer was his seventh of the season, and he has now gone deep in three consecutive contests. Since May 5, Santana has gone 9-for-23 with three home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored over eight games.

Twins' Bailey Ober: Electric versus Blue Jays
Ober (4-1) earned the win after he pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out 10 batters in Sunday's 5-1 victory over Toronto.
Ober was nearly perfect Sunday, allowing just a single to Vladimir Guerrero in the bottom of the fourth inning, while his 10 punchouts were a season high. The right-hander has now recorded four quality starts over eight outings this season. Since allowing eight runs against the Royals in his season debut, Ober has produced a 2.16 ERA with 44 strikeouts over 41.2 innings in his last seven starts. He'll look to keep it going when he returns to the mound for his next projected start Saturday in Cleveland.
