The 27-year-old outfielder has stolen bags in back-to-back games, giving him seven steals on the year. Varsho keeps finding ways to be productive, and through nine games in June he's batting .296 (8-for-27) with three doubles, two triples and six runs scored.

He was also caught stealing for the first time in six attempts, but overall it was a strong performance from Varsho, who got the start in center field and hit eighth. The 27-year-old has had trouble building momentum at the plate -- he hasn't hit safely in three straight games since early May -- and on the season he's slashing .213/.301/.454 with 10 homers, 30 RBI and 33 runs in 54 contests.

Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup. His seventh-inning long ball off Jack Flaherty broke open what had been a 1-1 pitchers' duel, sending the Blue Jays on their way to an eventual 9-1 victory. Varsho has five multi-RBI performances in the last nine games, and on the season he leads Toronto in both homers (nine) and RBI (27).
