Detmers (3-6) took the loss Saturday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks with three K's in 3.2 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after the start.
Detmers started the season as one of the Angels' top starters and garnered wins in each of his first three starts, striking out 26 batters with two runs allowed across 17.1 innings. However, he hasn't gotten in the win column since and has yielded at least three runs in eight straight starts. Outside of a decent 8.9 K/9 across 40.1 innings, nothing has been working for Detmers lately, allowing 10 long balls and 20 walks over that stretch. The 24-year-old was a reliable arm for Los Angeles the past two seasons and it's possible that a Triple-A stint will help the southpaw regain some confidence and find his previous form. For now, Detmers will give up his spot in the rotation and on the 26-man roster. A corresponding move has yet to be announced.

For the season, Neto is slashing .254/.305/.413 with eight steals, six home runs, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and 12 doubles over 203 plate appearances in a starting role.

Adell erased a four-run deficit when he checked into the game in the seventh inning, replacing Matt Thaiss. The homer also ended a 1-for-31 dry spell for Adell, who went 11-for-43 (.256) prior to that slump. The outfielder is already at 11 homers on the year while adding 27 RBI, eight stolen bases, 24 runs scored, four doubles and a triple over 162 plate appearances. Soriano left the game in line for the loss, but Jo Adell's grand slam off the bench spared the right-hander from a second straight defeat. Sandoval pitched well on the night and didn't surrender a hit until the top of the fourth when Aaron Judge took him deep for a two-run shot. The lefty would allow just one hit and one walk from that point on before being relieved by Adam Cimber to open the seventh. It was a nice bounceback effort for Sandoval after allowing a season-high eight runs in his previous start. However, he's lost his last three decisions (spanning four starts) and has walked at least three batters in three consecutive outings.

Sano (knee) was pulled off his rehab assignment Thursday and returned to Anaheim, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Sano had been close to returning from his left knee injury, but he experienced a setback recently when he burned himself with a heating pad. He'll get some more time off to allow the burn to properly heal and will restart a rehab assignment once the Angels feel he's ready to do so.
