  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Accounts for offense in loss

Henderson went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Henderson has homered in four straight games and continues to lead the majors with 16 long balls. The shortstop's sixth-inning blast off Sonny Gray was all the runs the Orioles could muster Monday. Henderson stumbled a bit in the middle of May, but he's quickly returned to form and is now sporting a .271/.351/.610 slash line with 34 RBI, 35 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 45 contests.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Hit hard in loss

Kremer (3-4) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over four innings to take the loss Monday versus the Cardinals.

Mike Siani was responsible for plating four of the runs on Kremer's line with an RBI single and a three-run home run. This was a second straight subpar start for Kremer, who has allowed 11 runs (eight earned) over his last 9.2 innings. The right-hander is at a 4.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB through 50 innings over nine starts this season. The Orioles have a busy schedule through the end of June, so Kremer is unlikely to lose his place in the rotation in the near future, but he'll need to be sharper than he has been lately to maintain his spot in the second half of the season. He is projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Out of Monday's lineup

Mountcastle is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Mountcastle is mired in a 1-for-20 slump and will sit Monday for the second time in Baltimore's past three games. Ryan O'Hearn will handle first base while Anthony Santander (knee) returns to the lineup as the designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Anthony Santander: Back at DH on Monday

Santander (knee) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Monday against the Cardinals.

Santander aggravated his bruised knee Saturday against the Mariners and was held out of the lineup Sunday, but he's been cleared to bat in the series opener at St. Louis. The 29-year-old said Sunday that running in the outfield has been a bit problematic, so he could continue to serve as Baltimore's DH for the next few days as he completes his recovery.

  • Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Adds another steal Sunday

Mateo went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.

Mateo has a steal in each of the last two games, giving him seven thefts on the year. The infielder has gone 11-for-42 (.262) over 14 games in May, lifting his season slash line to .259/.299/.457 over 89 plate appearances. Sunday was the first time in four contests he didn't record an extra-base hit, though there typically isn't an abundance of power in his game. Mateo should continue to occupy a starting role at second base as long as he's hitting well.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Two hits, steal in win

Mullins went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.

This was Mullins' first multi-hit game since April 21. Over the 19 contests in between, he went a poor 6-for-63 (.095) with two steals and three RBI. Mullins has started to lose playing time, with Colton Cowser being the main beneficiary in center field. For the season, Mullins is slashing just .194/.241/.351 with seven steals, six home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and three doubles over 145 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Smacks homer in win

O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.

O'Hearn had gone nine games without an extra-base hit, hitting .240 (6-for-25) with three RBI in that span. The 30-year-old broke his power drought with a third-inning homer off Mariners starter George Kirby to give the Orioles a 4-1 lead. O'Hearn is up to six homers, 15 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .288/.368/.510 slash line through 33 contests in a strong-side platoon role while seeing time at designated hitter and first base and in the corner outfield spots.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Keeps mashing Sunday

Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.

Henderson is on a tear with five homers and seven RBI over his last nine games. His blast Sunday was another leadoff homer against Mariners starter George Kirby. Henderson is leading the majors with 15 long balls to go with seven steals, 31 RBI, 34 runs scored, four doubles, four triples and a .270/.348/.598 slash line over 44 contests. His steal Sunday was his first since April 27.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Three-hit day

Cowser went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Mariners.

Cowser beat out a two-out infield single in the first to secure the second run of the game for the Orioles. He later added a double and a single, eventually coming around to score after both during an impressive three-hit day. It was the second three-hit game for Cowser this season, with the first taking place April 11. He's now slashing .277/.371/.521 through 140 plate appearances with six homers, 23 RBI, 16 runs and three steals.

  • Orioles' Craig Kimbrel: Impressive in return to closer role

Kimbrel pitched a clean ninth inning, striking out two to pick up a save Sunday against the Mariners.

It appears Kimbrel has found his groove again, and he was rewarded with a save opportunity while posting his fourth consecutive appearance without allowing a hit or a walk. It was the first save since May 3 for Kimbrel, who had posted a 16.20 ERA and 4.50 WHIP over 3.1 innings in the six outings prior to this most recent four-game stretch.

  • Orioles' Corbin Burnes: Strikes out 11 in win

Burnes (4-2) earned the win Sunday against the Mariners, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out 11.

Unlike his previous four outings where the Orioles scored a total of four runs, Burnes received five runs of support through the first three innings, allowing him to cruise to the victory. The increase in strikeouts was also a good sign for Burnes, who had tallied no more than six in his previous eight starts since accumulating 11 on Opening Day. Burnes will carry a 2.56 ERA and 1.04 WHIP into his next start, when he's slated to toe the rubber in a highly favorable matchup on the road against the White Sox.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Departs with dizziness

Basallo was removed from Double-A Bowie's game Sunday due to dizziness, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Basallo will presumably go through some concussion testing, and it's unclear if he'll be forced to miss additional time. The 19-year-old was limited to DH duties to open the season while returning from a right elbow stress fracture, and he's struggled through 35 games at Bowie with a .684 OPS.

  • Orioles' Anthony Santander: Knee remains bothersome

Santander is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners due to soreness and swelling in his left knee, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

The 29-year-old served as Baltimore's designated hitter the past two days after he suffered a bruised knee Wednesday, and he aggravated the injury while running the bases. Santander said running in the outfield remains a bit of an issue, so he could be limited to DH duties for a few days as he gets back to full strength.

  • Orioles' Anthony Santander: Out of lineup Sunday

Santander is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Seattle, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Santander started the last two games at designated hitter coming off the knee injury suffered Wednesday. The veteran outfielder will get a break Sunday as Baltimore rounds out its series with the Mariners, and it appears to just be a maintenance day since there's been no reports that he aggravated the injury.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Absent from lineup Sunday

Rutschman is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Mariners, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old catcher will get a break Sunday in Baltimore's series finale against the Mariners. James McCann will start at catcher in place of Rutschman and bat ninth.
