The Pirates optioned Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. Ryan has mostly been effective, holding a 3.46 ERA and 14:7 K:BB over 13 innings. He has been a bit wild lately, though, including in his last appearance when he walked a pair and allowed a run without recording an out. Ji Hwan Bae will absorb his roster spot.... See More ... Pirates' Ryder Ryan: Recalled to Pittsburgh
The Pirates recalled Ryan from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. Ryan holds a 3.00 ERA and 1.08 WHIP through 12 innings across nine appearances with the Pirates this season, and he will now return to the majors to provide additional bullpen depth. He will replace Josh Fleming, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryder Ryan: Gets call from Triple-A
The Pirates recalled Ryan from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. Ryan will rejoin Pittsburgh's 26-man active roster as a replacement for southpaw Marco Gonzales (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The right-hander reliever has previously made four appearances out of the Pirates bullpen this season, logging a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 5.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryder Ryan: Optioned to Triple-A
Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pirates on Tuesday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Ryan has permitted four runs over 5.1 relief innings with Pittsburgh this season. The Pirates have not announced a corresponding move, but it could be Colin Holderman (illness) returning from the injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryder Ryan: Nabs Opening Day roster spot
The Pirates are expected to select Ryan's contract ahead of Thursday's season opener versus the Marlins, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. While attending camp as a non-roster invitee, Ryan earned his way into the Bucs' Opening Day bullpen after striking out 10 and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks over 7.2 innings in Grapefruit League play. The 28-year-old right-hander will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work out of the bullpen to begin the season.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Ryder Ryan: Lands with Bucs
Ryan agreed Monday with the Pirates on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The 28-year-old reached the big leagues for the first time with Seattle in 2023, making just one relief appearance in August before he was cast off the 40-man roster following the season. Over a larger sample of 55 innings at Triple-A Tacoma last season, Ryan held his own in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, compiling a 3.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB. The right-hander will get a chance to compete for a spot in the Pirates' Opening Day bullpen but will likely be tasked with a lower-leverage role if he manages to secure a roster berth.... Mariners' Ryder Ryan: Loses 40-man spot
The Mariners outrighted Ryan to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday after he cleared waivers. Ryan reached the big leagues for the first time in 2023 during his age-28 campaign, making a lone appearance out of the Seattle bullpen on Aug. 11 before being sent back to Tacoma less than a week later. The right-hander posted a solid 3.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB over a larger sample of 55 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, but the Mariners felt his 40-man roster spot could be used better elsewhere.... Mariners' Ryder Ryan: Selected to 40-man, optioned
Ryan was selected to the Mariners' 40-man roster on Thursday and optioned to Triple-A Tacoma. Ryan likely had another opt-out in his minor-league contract with Seattle, thus triggering this move. The 28-year-old right-hander will remain stationed at Tacoma, where he has pitched to a 3.72 ERA and 38:15 K:BB through 38.2 innings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Ryder Ryan: Released by Mariners
The Mariners released Ryan on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. After Ryan exercised an opt-out clause in his contract, he will now hit the open market in search of a new landing spot. The 28-year-old righty holds a 4.58 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 17.2 frames in Triple-A this season and has yet to appear in the big leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Ryder Ryan: Lands with Seattle
Ryan signed a minor-league contract with Seattle on Monday. Ryan has spent the last two seasons at Triple-A Round Rock, where he posted a 4.49 ERA, 122:48 K:BB and 1.43 WHIP in 104.1 innings. It's possible he serves as a non-roster invitee this spring, but it seems likely that he'll at least spend most of the season in the minors.... See More ... See Less
