  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Struggles again Wednesday

Fedotov stopped 20 of 24 shots in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. The last two goals were empty-netters. A comeback effort from the Flyers fell short, and it also made the game look closer than it was. Fedotov allowed three goals in less than five minutes in the second period, and that was ultimately too much to come back from. Through three starts this season, Fedotov is 0-3-0 with 14 goals allowed on 79 shots. He's doing nothing to challenge Samuel Ersson for the starting job, and Fedotov could be sent down to AHL Lehigh Valley if he can't turn things around.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Draws start Wednesday

Fedotov will serve as the starting goaltender for Wednesday's road game against Washington, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Fedotov will start between the pipes for the third time over the Flyers' first seven games of the season. The 27-year-old hasn't been particularly effective early in the year, posting a 0-2-0 record while allowing 10 goals on 55 shots (.818 save percentage) over his first two starts.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Pulled after two periods

Fedotov allowed five goals on 24 shots over two periods of Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Kraken. Fedotov got the hook after the Kraken ran away with the game by virtue of an eruption of goals late in the second period. The 27-year-old hasn't looked good in his two starts this season, giving up 10 goals on 55 shots. Samuel Ersson has at least kept the Flyers competitive, and he may soon run away with the No. 1 job in goal. Ersson played the third period Thursday and is slated to start Saturday's home opener versus the Canucks.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Lets in five goals in loss

Fedotov gave up five goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Flames. The sixth goal was an empty-netter. Fedotov put in a decent effort, but the Flyers seemed to fade as a team in the third period of the second half of a back-to-back. Still, the Flyers never led in the contest. Fedotov's first start didn't help his cause to push Samuel Ersson for playing time, though it's possible this goalie situation turns into a tandem approach. The Flyers have a couple of days off before returning to action Tuesday in Edmonton.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Tending twine Monday

Fedotov will start Monday's road preseason contest versus the Islanders, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Fedotov will make his third appearance of the preseason -- the 27-year-old made 25 saves on 27 shots in Saturday's overtime win versus Boston. The Russian netminder will start before turning the net over to Aleksei Kolosov.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Tending twine Sunday

Fedotov will guard the road goal in Sunday's exhibition contest versus Washington, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com. Fedotov will play the first two periods, and Carson Bjarnason will enter the contest in the third frame. The 27-year-old Fedotov earned a record of 0-1-1 with a 4.95 GAA and an .811 save percentage in three regular-season outings with the Flyers in 2023-24. He will likely begin the 2024-25 campaign as Samuel Ersson's backup.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Secures two-year extension

Fedotov agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract extension with Philadelphia on Tuesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. Fedotov played just three games for the Flyers this season after coming over from the KHL, going 0-1-1 with a 4.96 GAA and .811 save percentage. With an extension in hand, it seems Fedotov and Samuel Ersson will battle it out for the starting gig during training camp in the fall.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Struggles in relief appearance

Fedotov stopped nine of 13 shots in a relief appearance during Tuesday's 9-3 loss to Montreal. Fedotov entered the contest midway through the second period after Samuel Ersson allowed five goals on 17 shots. Ersson is struggling mightily, posting a 5.37 GAA and a .787 save percentage across his past six outings. However, Fedotov hasn't shown himself to be a viable alternative -- the 27-year-old netminder is 0-1-1 with a 4.96 GAA and an .811 save percentage in three appearances this season. Philadelphia's recent goaltending struggles have caused the squad to slip out of a playoff spot, and it's not clear if either netminder will step up in time.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Can't halt Philly's losing streak

Fedotov made 15 saves in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres. Making his first start for the Flyers, the 27-year-old Russian got a rude welcome to the NHL -- Tage Thompson deked him out of his shorts to open the scoring, he was beaten high blocker side twice, and Fedotov was caught out of position on a rebound on the Sabres' final tally. Philadelphia has lost six straight games but is still clinging to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, topping a pack of five teams within four points of each other, which includes Buffalo. The Flyers could use a jolt of energy, but Fedotov's initial performances in the crease haven't suggested he'll be able to provide one.

  • Flyers' Ivan Fedotov: Making first NHL start

Fedotov will patrol the visiting crease in Buffalo on Friday, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Fedotov will make his first NHL start after giving up two goals on 21 shots in relief of Samuel Ersson on Monday against the Islanders. Fedotov went 21-22-1 with a 2.37 GAA and a .914 save percentage in 44 appearances with KHL CSKA Moscow before joining the Flyers in late March. The Sabres are tied for 19th in NHL scoring with 229 goals.
