Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Sent back to AHL
Brannstrom was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Sunday.
Brannstrom has already gone up and down a few times this season, so it could just be a cap-saving measure prior to Vancouver's next game Monday. Brannstrom has one assist through four games this season.

Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Back in NHL
Brannstrom was summoned from AHL Abbotsford on Friday.
Brannstrom was sent to the minors Thursday, and his quick return to the team suggests his demotion was just a cap-saving move. The 25-year-old defenseman has three assists in two appearances with Abbotsford as well as an assist in three outings with Vancouver in 2024-25.

Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Returned to minors
Brannstrom was sent down to AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.
Brannstrom has appeared in three NHL games this season, including Tuesday's clash with the Blackhawks in which he recorded his first point of the season. The decision to reassign the 25-year-old blueliner could be an indication that Derek Forbort (personal) will rejoin the team soon or simply a cap-saving measure since the team is off until Saturday's clash with Pittsburgh.

Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Recalled from minors
Brannstrom was elevated from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.
Brannstrom will likely serve as a depth option while Derek Forbort (personal) is away from the team. Vincent Desharnais figures to have the inside track to replacing Forbort in the lineup, leaving Brannstrom relegated to a likely spot in the press box as a healthy scratch.

Canucks' Erik Brannstrom: Traded to Vancouver
Vancouver acquired Brannstrom from Colorado on Sunday in exchange for Tucker Poolman (head) and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick.
Brannstrom signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Avalanche in July after Ottawa declined to issue him a qualifying offer. The 25-year-old defender had three goals, 20 points, 77 shots on net and 111 blocked shots in 76 games with the Senators in the 2023-24 regular season. Following the trade, Brannstrom was placed on waivers with the intent to assign him to AHL Abbotsford.

Avalanche's Erik Brannstrom: Grabs one-year contract
Brannstrom signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with Colorado on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Brannstrom won't find minutes easy to come by with the Avs, especially after the team re-signed Jacob MacDonald and brought in Calvin de Haan. At best, Brannstrom figures to be the sixth or seventh blueliner heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Erik Brannstrom: Not expected to get QO
According to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia, Brannstrom won't receive a qualifying offer from Ottawa before Sunday's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Brannstrom accounted for three goals, 20 points, 77 shots on net and 111 blocked shots in 76 outings during the 2023-24 campaign. The 24-year-old blueliner will be free to sign elsewhere Monday when the market opens.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Grabs assist in win
Brannstrom recorded an assist in Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Oilers.
Brannstrom has helpers in back-to-back games but remains mired in a 21-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 13 versus the Blue Jackets. With only 18 shots over that stretch, Brannstrom is going to need to start shooting more if he is going to find the back of the net. Still, the blueliner has been providing some offensive upside of late with four helpers in his last seven outings.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Puts up assist Saturday
Brannstrom notched an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers.
Brannstrom has collected three helpers over his last five games. The defenseman helped out on a Parker Kelly tally in the third period to break up Stuart Skinner's shutout bid. Brannstrom had a brief foray at forward, but the Senators have opted to move him back to defense, where he's often seen bottom-four minutes. He's at 10 points, 32 shots on net, 38 blocked shots, 22 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 30 appearances.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Offers assist in loss
Brannstrom put up an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Coyotes.
Brannstrom set up a Dominik Kubalik goal in the first period, which chased Arizona starter Connor Ingram from the game. The helper was Brannstrom's fourth over the last eight games, a marked improvement on his season pace of five points through 22 outings. The defenseman has added 24 shots on net, 30 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a plus-2 rating while occupying a regular role on the third pairing as the Senators have had to navigate a number of other injuries on the blue line.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Records two helpers against Rangers
Brannstrom notched two assists in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Rangers.
Brannstrom had just one multi-point game in 74 games last season, so fantasy players probably shouldn't count on him to keep piling up offense. In fact, the 24-year-old defenseman has never reached the 20-point threshold in his five-year NHL career and will be hard-pressed to do so in 2023-24.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: First goal key to win
Brannstrom scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over the Wild.
With the Senators down 1-0 early in the third period, Minnesota cleared the puck into Ottawa's end for a line change. Goalie Anton Forsberg pounced on it and fired a pass to a wide-open Brannstrom at the opposite blue line, who had a clear path to Wild netminder Filip Gustavsson and blasted a slapshot past him. Brannstrom has never scored more than two goals in an NHL season, and this was his first point in 2023-24, so an offensive surge for the 24-year-old defenseman seems unlikely.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Still out of action
Brannstrom (concussion) won't play Thursday versus the Canucks.
Brannstrom will miss his fifth straight game, and he has yet to be cleared for contact. The defenseman may end up sitting out Saturday versus Calgary as well, as the Senators are off for four days after that contest, which could give him enough time to get back on track in practice.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Hasn't been cleared for contact
Brannstrom (concussion) skated in a non-contact jersey Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Brannstrom has missed the last three games after suffering a concussion during a loss to the Islanders on Oct. 26. While Brannstrom returning to the ice in a limited fashion Tuesday is certainly a step in the right direction, he'll presumably need to log at least one full practice before being cleared for game action. He's gone scoreless through seven contests this campaign.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Diagnosed with concussion
Brannstrom sustained a concussion and will be returning to Ottawa on Friday, per TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Brannstrom won't be available to face the Penguins on Saturday but it could certainly be longer as he recovers from his concussion. The fact that he was immediately able to travel home could be an indication it won't be a long-term absence. Still, any missing blueliner is a problem for the team right now with both Thomas Chabot (hand) and Artem Zub (upper body) also shelved.

Senators' Erik Brannstrom: Exits Thursday's game
Brannstrom was stretchered off the ice after a hit from Cal Clutterbuck in Thursday's game versus the Islanders, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
The hit occurred in the second period. Per the team, Brannstrom was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. At this time it's unclear if he'll be cleared to travel with the Senators on their trip to Pittsburgh for Saturday's matchup with the Penguins.
