With Burks out and Dyami Brown (calf) injured in Friday's practice, the Commanders could be digging even deeper into their depth at wide receiver after Terry McLaurin suffered a season-ending knee injury two weeks ago. Burks is mimicking his practice regimen from a week ago, when he kicked it off with back-to-back DNPs due to a foot issue. If he follows last week's regimen, he'll be limited Friday and enter the weekend listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams. While playing through the injury this past Sunday against the Eagles, he tallied a 68 percent snap share and recorded three catches (on five targets) for 81 yards.

Burks (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Ben Standig of The Team 980 Washington D.C. reports.
After back-to-back DNPs last Wednesday and Thursday, Burks got in a limited session Friday before being cleared to play Sunday night against Philly. He ended up recording three grabs for 81 yards as the Commanders' leading receiver in the contest. Burks should play plenty of snaps the rest of the season with Terry McLaurin (knee) done for the year.

Burks (foot) caught three of five targets for 81 yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Eagles.
Burks led the Commanders in receiving yards, with most of his team-high total coming on a 53-yard catch in the third quarter. He finished third on the team in targets, two behind Antonio Williams and one behind Stefon Diggs. Burks has 147 receiving yards over his last two games and is expected to work alongside Williams and Diggs in three-receiver formations moving forward as the Commanders play out the season without Terry McLaurin (knee). Washington's likely to fall behind in Week 9, which could lead to more targets for Burks, albeit against a tough Rams secondary.

Burks first dealt with a sore foot at the start of training camp, played through a shoulder injury in Week 6 and then sandwiched two limited sessions around Thursday's DNP due to a foot issue. It's unclear if the current concern is related to the previous one from three months ago, but he entered the weekend listed as questionable. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Sunday morning that Burks is expected to suit up, and he indeed avoided the Commanders' inactive list. Burks sustained the foot injury during the Commanders' previous game Oct. 19 against the 49ers and doesn't appear to be back to 100 percent health, even with the benefit of a Week 7 bye. The wideout managed just two limited practice sessions this week en route to taking a designation into the weekend, but he looks to have shown enough to put himself on a path to play. Confirmation on Burks' status will arrive when Washington posts its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, and assuming he's cleared to play, the 26-year-old could be in line for extra opportunities in the passing game after top wideout Terry McLaurin (knee) went down with a season-ending injury against San Francisco.

The reception, yardage and target totals were all season-best totals for Burks, whose heightened involvement in the passing game may have been a byproduct of No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin (knee) exiting the game late in the first quarter. Though Burks didn't see a major spike in playing time compared to prior weeks -- he was on the field for 37 of 67 offensive snaps (55.2 percent) -- he should be able to maintain a regular role in three-receiver sets alongside Stefon Diggs and Antonio Williams with McLaurin expected to miss time and potentially even being sidelined for the rest of the season.
