  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Looking unlikely for Week 9

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday that Parsons (ankle) is "not quite there yet" when asked about the star pass rusher's chances of suiting up Sunday against the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

McCarthy said "I really don't even entertain that thought" when asked about Parsons' odds of retaking the field, and said he won't consider that line of thinking until such time as "[Parsons can] clear the return-to-play" protocols with Dallas' athletic training staff. Parsons has already missed the Cowboys' last three games and he couldn't practice Wednesday. Another 'DNP' listing looks likely Thursday, and it seems as though Dallas is already looking ahead to Week 10 against the Eagles as a more tentative return date for Parsons.

  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Remains sidelined for practice

Parsons (ankle) will not practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

While head coach Mike McCarthy said that Parsons' condition is improving, the star edge rusher still isn't ready to practice yet. Parsons has already missed the Cowboys' last three games after spraining his left ankle Week 4 against the Giants. Considering the amount of time Parsons has missed, starting the week with an absence from practice likely doesn't bode well for his prospects of playing this Sunday against the Falcons.

  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Missing third straight game

Parsons (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Even with a Week 7 bye to aid in his recovery from a sprained left ankle, Parsons will miss a third consecutive game Sunday after he was unable to practice in any fashion this week. In Parsons' continued absence, Tyrus Wheat, Chauncey Golston, Carl Lawson and KJ Henry will serve as the Cowboys' primary edge rushers.

  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Still not practicing

Parsons (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Even with the Cowboys coming off a Week 7 bye, Parsons has logged back-to-back DNPs to open the week, and it appears unlikely that he'll be able to play Sunday against the 49ers. Parsons is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that he sustained during the Cowboys' Week 4 win over the Giants.

  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: DNP to open week

Parsons (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice session.

Parsons suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Cowboys' Week 4 win over the Giants, which caused him to miss the following two contests. Dallas is coming off a Week 7 bye, but even with the additional rest, it appears Parsons still has some progress to make before returning to regular-season action. The 2021 first-round pick would have to return to practice in at least a limited capacity Thursday or Friday in order to have a shot at playing against the 49ers on Sunday.
