Keyshawn James-Newby: Let go by Eagles
James-Newby (undisclosed) was waived by the Eagles on Sunday.
The rookie seventh-rounder was injured early in August, and though he was able to move past that injury over the course of the preseason, James-Newby will not be on the final 53-man roster. James-Newby will now be subject to waivers and could be a practice squad candidate for the Eagles.

Eagles' Keyshawn James-Newby: Carted off field
James-Newby (undisclosed) was carted off the practice field during Saturday's session, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
The rookie seventh-round pick out of New Mexico was taken straight to the medical tent with an unnamed issue. If the severity of the injury matches the precautionary measures, it is unlikely the weakside linebacker will be able to return to the field quickly.

Eagles' Keyshawn James-Newby: Picked up by Eagles
Philadelphia selected James-Newby in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 252nd overall.
James-Newby enjoyed a six-year college career that ended with New Mexico in 2025, when he was selected to the All-MWC First-Team after posting 52 total tackles, including 9.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and five pass defenses across 13 games. He's not the most powerful pass-rushing prospect in the draft, but James-Newby beat opposing blockers with his burst off the snap, and he'll need to become a more reliable tackler to see meaningful snaps at the NFL level. He'll compete with the likes of Jalyx Hunt, Jose Ramirez, Arnold Ebiketie and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka for rotational snaps at the edge rusher position behind Nolan Smith and the newly acquired Jonathan Greenard (shoulder).
