Isaiah Hodgins: Reverts to practice squad
Hodgins reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday.
Hodgins caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals while playing 19 percent of the offensive snaps, ranking as a distant fourth behind Darius Slayton, Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Back to active roster
Hodgins was elevated to the Giants' active roster Saturday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Hodgins has spent most of the season on the Giants' practice squad, but he'll be elevated to the active roster for the second consecutive week due to Malik Nabers (concussion) being sidelined. Hodgins played 24 offensive snaps in Week 5 but did not earn a target.

Isaiah Hodgins: Bumped back down
Hodgins reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday.
Hodgins got the callup with Malik Nabers (concussion) out of action. The Oregon State product saw 25 snaps on offense but never saw a target. If Nabers were to remain out in Week 6 against the Bengals, Hodgins would likely see another opportunity with the active roster.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Elevated ahead of Week 5
The Giants elevated Hodgins from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Hodgins wasn't able to make the Giants' 53-man roster at the end of training camp despite starting for the G-Men during the 2023 regular season. He opted to stick around on the practice squad, and he'll be elevated for the first time this season ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks after Malik Nabers (concussion) was ruled out. Hodgins recorded 21 catches (on 33 targets) for 230 yards and three touchdowns across 17 regular-season games for the Giants in 2023.

Isaiah Hodgins: Sticks around with Big Blue
The Giants signed Hodgins to the practice squad Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Hodgins opened 2023 as a starter for the Giants, but he saw inconsistent playing time over the course of the season and finished with 21 catches (on 33 targets) for 230 yards and three touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. The 2020 sixth-round pick didn't manage to show much production during the preseason, during which he caught three passes (on eight targets) for 17 yards. Hodgins will stick around on the taxi squad in the hopes of making it back to the active roster during the regular season.

Isaiah Hodgins: Cut by Giants
The Giants released Hodgins on Tuesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
The 2020 sixth-round pick has never reached even 400 receiving yards in a season, but he did enjoy a brief run of semi-relevance for fantasy football in the second half of the 2022 campaign when he scored four TDs in a five-game stretch (Weeks 13-17) while averaging 5.0 catches for 50.0 yards on 6.6 targets. Hodgins then opened 2023 as a starter, but he was quickly demoted to a part-time role after managing just 64 yards over the first three games. He had just two games with more than 24 yards last season, and none with more than 40.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Precarious spot on depth chart
Hodgins recorded one reception on two targets for three yards in Saturday's 10-6 preseason loss to the Jets.
The Giants rested all four of their top wide receivers, leaving Hodgins and Allen Robinson on the field to begin the game. Tommy DeVito struggled to move the ball through the air, making it difficult to evaluate Hodgins' performance. However, his status on the roster is certainly in question given that he appeared in this game, and the Giants could opt to keep other players at the position ahead of Hodgins given his lack of ability to contribute on special teams.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Odd man out with Slayton's return
Hodgins caught a lot of passes with the first-team offense last week but seems to be the odd man out now that Darius Slayton is at OTAs, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Slayton, Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson figure to be the top three wide receivers, leaving Hodgins to compete with Jalin Hyatt, Allen Robinson, Isaiah McKenzie and others for depth roles. It's hard to find a roster with more backup WRs that have starting experience in the NFL, but in Hodgins' case, he mostly got that opportunity because the Giants were so thin at his position the past two seasons. Now that they're in better shape -- at least at wide receiver -- he'll head to training camp without assurances of a Week 1 roster spot, after signing a one-year contract that includes only $325,000 guaranteed.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Back with G-Men
Hodgins agreed to a contract with the Giants on Thursday.
Hodgins has spent the majority of the last two seasons with the Giants and had flashes of productivity late in the 2022 campaign. New York didn't tender him a contract as a restricted free agent, but the sides have agreed to new terms. The addition of Isaiah McKenzie this offseason could push Hodgins further down the wide receiver depth chart, and the team is also rumored to be interested in some of the top pass catchers in this year's draft class. Given that, Hodgins' role with the Giants is currently unclear.

Isaiah Hodgins: Hitting open market
Hodgins will be an unrestricted free agent after the Giants opted not to give him a restricted free-agent tender Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Hodgins caught on with the Bills as an undrafted rookie in 2021 before making his way to the Giants midway through the 2022 season. He had at least 29 yards in each of his eight games for the Giants in 2022, but then managed just 230 yards over 17 games and 511 snaps in 2023. While the team decided he's not valuable enough to warrant the lowest RFA tender ($2.99 million), Hodgins could still return to the Giants on a lesser contract.

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Falls back to depth role in 2023
Hodgins recorded three catches for 36 yards on three targets in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Eagles.
Hodgins ascended to a spot near the top of the depth chart by the end of the 2022 campaign, but he saw his role diminish in 2023. By Week 4, Hodgins had been surpassed in the receiving pecking order by other options, and he logged less than half of the team's offensive snaps in six of his final seven contests. He maxed out at four catches and 40 yards -- both in Week 2 against Arizona -- over his 17 appearances on the season, ultimately finishing with a 21-230-3 receiving line on 33 targets. The Giants' paltry passing game played a part in Hodgins' decreased output, but it was also evident that the wideout isn't likely to be a difference-maker in an NFL offense. Hodgins is set to be a restricted free agent this spring, and it's far from a certainty that he'll be tendered.
