After cutting ties with Julio Jones earlier this week, the Tennessee Titans have found a new wide receiver to team with A.J. Brown. According to multiple reports, the Titans will acquire Robert Woods from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round pick. 

Woods, who tore his ACL in practice last season, was one of the league's most reliable receivers during his time in Los Angeles. 

He caught 367 passes for 4,626 yards and 23 touchdowns across his 68 games with the Rams, teaming with Cooper Kupp, as well as Sammy Watkins and Brandin Cooks at different times during his tenure to give the team one of the best wide receiver corps in the NFL. He took a back seat to Kupp after the arrival of Matthew Stafford last offseason, but remained a strong No. 2 threat. The Rams acquired Odell Beckham Jr. just days before Woods suffered his torn ACL, so the trio never got to take the field together.

Los Angeles signed former Chicago Bears star Allen Robinson to a three-year deal earlier week, and has expressed interesting in re-signing Beckham. That becomes easier to do without Woods' salary on the books. He was set to count against the cap for $15.7 million during the 2022 season, but will instead count for approximately $8.6 million, assuming the trade is executed prior to June 1. If it becomes official after that date, Woods will count for just $2.2 million this year and $6.4 million in 2023. 

Tennessee will acquire Woods on his $10 million base salary, and presumably pay his $3.5 million roster bonus. None of his salary is guaranteed beyond this year, so if he is unable to fully recover from the ACL tear, the Titans can go look for a new No. 2 wideout again next offseason.

If healthy, Woods should be a strong fit in Tennessee's offense. It's conceptually similar to what he's run with the Rams, and he has long been considered one of the NFL's best run-blocking wide receivers, which should make him an asset in the Titans' Derrick Henry-based attack.
