The Atlanta Falcons and veteran linebacker Rashaan Evans have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, according to ESPN. The financial terms were not immediately disclosed.
Evans had spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Titans, who selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Over that stretch, Evans started in 50 of his 59 games played and totaled 317 tackles. His best season came back in 2019 after he posted a career-high 111 tackles along with 2.5 sacks. Last season, Evans was limited to just 12 games played due to an ankle injury.
Tennessee declined to exercise the fifth-year option on Evans' contract last offseason, which paved the way for him to hit unrestricted free agency this year and ultimately land in Atlanta.
This move also reunites Evans with Falcons head coach Arthur Smith and defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who coached him in Tennessee before taking the Atlanta jobs last offseason. Before agreeing to this deal with the Falcons, Evans also paid a free agent visit to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
