Carroll is questionable for Thursday's game against the Clippers due to an illness, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Carroll has appeared in three games for the Rockets since joining the team following the All-Star break, posting averages of 4.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 15.0 minutes during those contests. His status should clear up closer to game time Thursday.

Rockets' DeMarre Carroll: Available Thursday
Carroll is available for Thursday's game against the Warriors, Craig Ackerman of the Rockets' radio network reports.
Carroll has officially joined the team, and could see minutes immediately with Eric Gordon (lower leg) ruled out. Carroll has only played in 15 games this season, all with the Spurs, and has averaged 2.2 points in nine minutes per game.

DeMarre Carroll: Expected to sign with Houston
Carroll, who agreed to a contract buyout with the Spurs on Monday, is expected to sign a contract with the Rockets once he clears waivers, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
This was expected, as Carroll had been inactive for 15 straight games with the Spurs prior to the All-Star break. Assuming he lands with Houston upon clearing waivers, Carroll should benefit from more consistent run after appearing in just 15 games with San Antonio, during which he averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.0 minutes. Carroll will likely operate as a backup power forward for Houston, though he may also get some run as a small-ball center.

Spurs' DeMarre Carroll: Eyeing buyout
Carroll suggested last week that he would be open to buyout from the Spurs if he's able to find another team more willing to give him playing time, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. "I don't know what direction we are going to go," Carroll said, "but at the end of the day, at 33 [years old], I don't want to waste my talents just sitting at the end of the bench, knowing I could help a team produce."
Carroll inked a three-year, $21 million deal with San Antonio over the summer, which includes $8 million guaranteed for the next two seasons. As such, Carroll might have to leave a good deal of money on the table if he wants to play elsewhere, as the Spurs seemingly have no plans to include the veteran forward in their rotation anytime soon. He's been inactive for 15 straight contests and has only seen the floor in 15 of the Spurs' 54 games to date, averaging 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.0 minutes in those appearances.

With youngsters Keldon Johnson, Chimezie Metu and Drew Eubanks back from stints with the G League's Austin Spurs, Carroll will don street clothes as a healthy inactive. It's the second time in as many games Carroll hasn't dressed for a contest, suggesting the Spurs don't view the 33-year-old as part of their near- nor long-term plans. The Spurs could be eager to deal Carroll ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline, assuming they can find a suitor willing to take on the money remaining on the three-year, $20.65 million deal the forward signed last summer.
