Victor Gonzalez: Cut loose by Yanks
The Yankees released Gonzalez on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander has been with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since being DFA'd by the Yankees in June, but he's now been let go during the closing stretch of the campaign. Gonzalez made 27 appearances for New York this year and had a 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 11:13 K:BB across 23.1 innings.

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Yankees outrighted Gonzalez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
Gonzalez didn't garner any interest via trade or waivers, despite owning a 3.22 ERA and 86:31 K:BB in 89.1 career innings in the majors coming into 2024. He'll remain in the Yankees organization and provide left-handed relief depth at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Jettisoned from 40-man roster
The Yankees designated Gonzalez for assignment Friday.
Gonzalez was acquired via trade from the Dodgers over the offseason and didn't pitch well in pinstripes, holding a 3.86 ERA but an ugly 11:13 K:BB over 23.1 innings. The 28-year-old had a career 3.22 ERA and 86:31 K:BB in 89.1 innings coming into 2024, so there could be interest by way of waivers or trade.

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Fills in for save
Gonzalez earned the save Sunday, allowing one walk and no hits with a strikeout over a scoreless inning.
Gonzalez drew the save opportunity due to Clay Holmes getting a day off, and the former converted for his second save of the campaign. Gonzalez has been a reliable arm for the Yankees thus far, yielding a run in just one of his nine appearances this season (8.1 innings).

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Converts on save opportunity
Gonzalez picked up the save Monday against the Diamondbacks, surrendering no runs on one hit and no walks over one inning. He didn't generate a strikeout.
Gonzalez surprisingly was handed the ball in the ninth, filling in for closer Clay Holmes, who got the night off after making two straight appearances to end March. The 28-year-old capitalized on the opportunity, cashing in for his second career save -- his first since 2021. While he likely won't see many more save chances fall his way, Gonzalez landing ninth-inning work Monday likely serves as a vote of confidence from Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Avoids arbitration with Yankees
The Yankees and Gonzalez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $860,000 contract Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
It was his first year of arbitration eligibility. Acquired from the Dodgers in a trade last month, Gonzalez posted a 4.01 ERA and 30:10 K:BB over 33.2 frames with the big club in 2023 in his first year back from elbow issues.

Yankees' Victor Gonzalez: Acquired by Yankees
The Yankees acquired Gonzalez and Jorbit Vivas from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for Trey Sweeney, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
The Dodgers needed to clear a couple spots on their 40-man roster for the additions of Shohei Ohtani and Joe Kelly. Gonzalez, 28, didn't pitch in the big leagues at all in 2022 due to elbow issues and went back-and-forth between the majors and minors in 2023, collecting a 4.01 ERA and 30:10 K:BB over 33.2 frames with the big club. He's held left-handed batters to a .209/.282/.282 batting line in his career and will give the Yankees another lefty relief option.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Recalled from OKC
The Dodgers recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Gonzalez will give the Dodgers additional bullpen depth to close out the season as Lance Lynn is away from the team on bereavement leave. Gonzalez holds a 4.13 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 32.2 innings in the majors this season.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Optioned to OKC
The Dodgers optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
Gonzalez has pitched well over the last handful of weeks, but he'll get the boot Tuesday with swing-and-miss maestro Kyle Hurt arriving in Los Angeles. Gonzalez, 27, holds a 4.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB in 32.2 major-league innings this year.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Recalled from Triple-A
The Dodgers recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but he will come back up to the majors to replace Yency Almonte (knee) on the active roster. The 27-year-old southpaw holds a 5.32 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 23.2 innings in the majors this season and will likely be limited to middle relief while in Los Angeles.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Back in minors
The Dodgers optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
With the return of Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday, Gonzalez will be sent back to the minors to free up a roster spot. The 27-year-old lefty has been effective out of the bullpen for Oklahoma City with a 2.60 ERA through 17.1 frames, and he could return to Los Angeles if the Dodgers need a fresh arm down the line.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Recalled from Triple-A
The Dodgers recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Gonzalez was sent down to Triple-A on July 3 and has since put up a 3.48 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 10.1 innings with Oklahoma City. Despite Gonzalez's lack of success in the majors this season, he'll be called upon to replace Bryan Hudson, who was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Sent to Triple-A
Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Gonzalez was knocked around for three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one over 1.1 innings Monday in Kansas City, and he'll now head to Triple-A to make room for a fresh arm in Gavin Stone. Gonzalez owns a 5.32 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with a 22:7 K:BB across 23.2 frames so far this season with the Dodgers.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Likely to open Sunday's game
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinted that Gonzalez could serve as the team's opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Roberts disclosed that he plans to have a southpaw open the contest, and the left-handed Gonzalez seems to be a logical choice after he previously opened Friday's contest. If Gonzalez does in fact get the starting nod, he likely won't work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the Dodgers' bullpen.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Faces three batters as opener
Gonzalez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one walk over two-thirds of a scoreless inning in a 5-4 loss against the Phillies. He didn't record a strikeout or give up a hit.
It appears the Dodgers simply wanted the left-handed Gonzales to handle Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper the first time through the order, as he faced just three batters before being replaced by Michael Grove. Gonzales has been solid as a lefty specialist this season, posting a 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 17 appearances (16.2 innings).

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Opening Friday's game
Gonzalez will serve as an opener for the Dogers on Friday in Philadelphia, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Michael Grove had been the projected starter but instead will now be in line for bulk relief innings. With Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper slated to hit for the Phils in the first inning, using the left-handed Gonzalez as an opener makes sense.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Takes loss Saturday
Gonzalez (1-1) was tagged with the loss against St. Louis on Saturday, surrendering three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.
Gonzalez entered in the eighth inning of a tie game and allowed a double and an intentional walk before serving up a three-run homer to Nolan Gorman. The southpaw had been dominant coming into the contest, tossing 11.1 scoreless frames and posting a 12:3 K:BB over his first 10 appearances of the campaign. Given that context, it's unlikely that his rough outing against the Cardinals will impact manager Dave Roberts' trust in Gonzalez.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Back in big leagues
The Dodgers recalled Gonzalez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Gonzalez owns a 2.75 ERA in 55.2 career major-league innings, but he missed all of last season with elbow troubles and failed to win an Opening Day roster spot this year. After striking out 12 batters in seven innings for Oklahoma City while allowing just one run, he'll get the chance to prove himself at the highest level again. Jake Reed was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Optioned to minors
Gonzalez was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Dodgers on Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Gonzalez is a bit of a surprise demotion to Triple-A, but his poor spring training (10.38 ERA, 1.85 WHIP) will see him open the year in Oklahoma City where he'll try and work things out. With Gonzalez now in the minors, Ardaya speculates that Andre Jackson now has a path to be the multi-inning relief option for the Dodgers to begin 2023.
