Diamondbacks' Thyago Vieira: Clears waivers
The Diamondbacks outrighted Vieira to Triple-A Reno on Aug. 2.
Though Vieira remains a member of Arizona's organization after clearing waivers earlier this month, he has yet to pitch for Reno since being cast off the 40-man roster. Reno placed him on its restricted list Aug. 9 for unspecified reasons.

Diamondbacks' Thyago Vieira: DFA'd by Diamondbacks
Arizona designated Vieira for assignment Saturday.
The Diamondbacks traded for reliever A.J. Puk on Thursday and now that Puk has reported to the team, Vieira will lose his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Saturday's move marks the third time Vieira has been designated for assignment this season, and he's fallen to a 5.21 ERA in 38 innings split between Milwaukee, Baltimore and Arizona.

Diamondbacks' Thyago Vieira: Claimed by D-backs
The Diamondbacks claimed Vieira off waivers from the Orioles on Thursday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Vieira made just one appearance with the O's before being DFA'd, allowing three earned runs on one hit and four walks while failing to record an out. He'll now join his third organization of the year but will almost certainly be limited to low-leverage situations out of Arizona's bullpen.

Orioles' Thyago Vieira: Exits 40-man roster
The Orioles designated Vieira for assignment Monday.
Vieira's stint in Baltimore was brief and unproductive, as he walked four, allowed three runs and didn't record an out in his lone appearance for the Orioles. It's the second time since late May that Vieira has been designated for assignment, as the move had been made previously by the Brewers before they traded him to Baltimore.

Orioles' Thyago Vieira: Headed to Baltimore
The Brewers traded Vieira and Aneuris Rodriguez to the Orioles on Saturday in exchange for Garrett Stallings.
Vieira was DFA'd by Milwaukee on Monday, but he will once again possess a spot on a big-league roster as he joins the Orioles. The 30-year-old reliever posted a 4.97 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 25.1 innings during his tenure with the Brewers, and he'll likely slide into a low-leverage role in Baltimore's bullpen.

Brewers' Thyago Vieira: Departs 40-man roster
Vieira was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Monday.
Vieira has fanned 25 batters over his 22.1 innings this season, but he's also walked 13 and posted a 5.64 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. The 31-year-old has a big arm, so it's possible he'll draw interest from a team that thinks it might be able to fix him.

Brewers' Thyago Vieira: Earns multi-inning save
Vieira earned his second career save Sunday in a win over the Mariners, allowed two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out five over three innings.
Vieira was called upon to begin the seventh with the Brewers holding a comfortable 10-2 lead. He tossed 50 pitches and struck out five along the way to finish the game and earn a rare save in what was just his fourth major-league appearance since the start of last year.

Brewers' Thyago Vieira: Secures bullpen spot
Vieira is included on the Brewers' 26-man active roster for Friday's season opener versus the Mets.
Vieira finished the 2023 season on the injured list due to a right calf strain, but he was fully healthy for spring training and posted a 3.52 ERA and 13:5 K:BB in 7.2 innings during Cactus League play to secure his spot on the Opening Day roster. Though closer Devin Williams (back) is expected to be sidelined for the first two-plus months of the season, Vieira is unlikely to factor into the mix for saves given his limited body of work in the majors and the control issues that he's exhibited at every stop of his professional career. That being said, Vieira brings premium velocity to the table and should be a strong source of strikeouts on a per-inning basis even if he's relegated to a middle-relief role for Milwaukee.

Brewers' Thyago Vieira: Hits shelf with calf strain
The Brewers placed Vieira on the 15-day injured list Monday with a right calf strain.
The injury will spell an end to Vieira's season, though unless he's dealing with a Grade 2 or 3 strain that necessitates surgery and/or an extended recovery, the hard-throwing right-hander should be in store for a normal offseason. Vieira received a call-up from Triple-A Nashville earlier this month and saw his first MLB action since the 2019 season. In two appearances out of Milwaukee's bullpen, Vieira struck out two batters over three no-hit scoreless innings.

Brewers' Thyago Vieira: Joining minor-league camp
Vieira was assigned to minor-league camp Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Vieira agreed to a minor-league contract with Milwaukee earlier in the year and looked to have a chance to crack the Opening Day roster as part of the Brewers' bullpen. However, he got roughed up in three spring appearances, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over three innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander will serve as bullpen depth and figures to have a chance for a mid-season promotion.

Vieira signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Vieira, 29, is coming off a successful three-year stint in Japan, where he held a 2.86 ERA and 150:61 K:BB over 125.2 relief innings. He'll compete for a middle relief job in Milwaukee.

Thyago Vieira: Off to Japan
Vieira signed with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan on Monday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
The Brazilian has thrown 25.2 innings in the big leagues over parts of three seasons but has yet to find much success, stumbling to a 7.36 ERA. Still just 26 years old, he could theoretically improve overseas and return as a more interesting pitcher sometime in the future, but he won't be seen in the majors any time soon.
