The war against fun in baseball is ongoing and bat flips remain the focal point. There seems to be no middle ground -- people either love bat flips or hate them and think they're ruined the game.

Me? I think bat flips are great. Baseball can be boring at times and they help spice things up. After all, baseball is just a game. Be careful not to take it too seriously.

Anyway, here is some ultra-rare footage of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle flipping his bat. The footage comes courtesy of Scott Horsfied, though you are forewarned: the link includes some NSFW language.

That is a Grade A bat flip right there. It's not a simple toss. It's a full blown flip with emotion and possibly some anger behind it. Mantle had his demons, and he was known to take things out on innocent baseballs.

Horsfield has some more footage of Mantle flipping his bat too (again, NSFW language). Hey, when you're the best switch-hitter in baseball history, you can get away with stuff like that.
