Morrow was assigned to AHL Chicago on Sunday.
Morrow was sidelined for several weeks early in training camp due to an undisclosed injury. While he's now recovered, the 21-year-old will begin the regular season in the minors. He made 37 appearances for UMass-Amherst last year, tallying six goals and 30 points. Morrow could rejoin the Hurricanes at some point if the team deals with injuries.

Morrow (undisclosed) will not be an option against Florida in Friday's preseason contest, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Although Morrow won't play in Friday's contest, coach Rod Brind'Amour said that the 21-year-old "will be back any day now," Ruff reports. Morrow will be hard-pressed to earn time at the NHL level this season -- Carolina has a veteran-laden defense core. The 2021 second-round pick was highly productive during his time at UMass-Amherst -- he registered 94 points in 109 regular-season contests from the back end over the course of three seasons.

Morrow (undisclosed), as expected, returned to practice in a regular sweater Monday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Morrow played in his first two NHL games last year, registering six shots, one hit and a minus-3 rating in 18:23 of ice time per game. Still, despite the limited experience, the 21-year-old blueliner should be in the mix for an Opening Night roster spot coming out of training camp -- though if he isn't going to see a lot of minutes, he might be better suited for the minors.
