The Dodgers designated Vanasco for assignment Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Vanasco was removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Daniel Hudson (knee), who was activated off the 60-day injured list. Vanasco will head back to the minors and provide organizational depth if he isn't claimed or traded, but the 24-year-old could be an intriguing dart throw for a pitching-needy club given his strikeout upside.
