Mullee (elbow) was non-tendered by the Cubs on Friday and is now a free agent, the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports.
He missed the final three months of the season after undergoing surgery to deal with a nerve issue in his elbow. The Cubs then claimed him off waivers from the Yankees after the season, but apparently they either did not like his medicals or simply saw a better way to use the roster spot. His numbers at Triple-A prior to the injury were excellent (0.99 ERA, 45:11 K:BB in 36.1 innings), so another team will likely give him a shot if he can prove he is healthy.
