Devastating hit at Mississippi State ends spring football game early

How often are players ejected for targeting during a spring game?

That’s apparently what happened to Mississippi State defensive back Johnathan Abram, who laid a punishing hit on running back Bennie Braswell during Saturday’s Maroon and White scrimmage. Abram, a junior college transfer, didn’t let up when delivering the hit on his teammate. 

Braswell needed additional attention and Abram’s day ended prematurely. Coaches decided to end the scrimmage early after the hit. What type of discipline Abram will face, if any, is not yet known. 

A common theme among players as the regular season approaches is that they look forward to hitting someone other than their own teammates for a change. I bet Braswell agrees.
