Salo, Julien Gauthier, Brian Pinho, Dennis Cholowski and Karson Kuhlman were recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday, per CapFriendly. All five players will serve as extra depth options for the Islanders during the postseason. Salo produced 24 points in 68 appearances at the AHL level this season, but he did not see any NHL action.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Robin Salo: Lands on waivers
Salo was placed on waivers by the Islanders on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Salo had 14 assists in 38 contests with AHL Bridgeport last season. With New York, he contributed two goals and four points in 11 games. If he clears waivers, Salo will probably report to Bridgeport.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Lands back in minors
Salo was demoted to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday. Salo hasn't logged a game for the Isles since Dec. 22, a stretch of eight games as a healthy scratch. While the 24-year-old defenseman, or somebody else, could be brought up before Thursday's matchup with Minnesota, the move would seem to indicate that Adam Pelech (head) is nearing a return to action.... Islanders' Robin Salo: Healthy scratch once again
Salo was a healthy scratch for the seventh straight game Friday versus the Flames. Salo hasn't played since a 5-3 loss to the Rangers on Dec. 22. He made a couple of defensive miscues in that contest and has been relegated to the bench ever since. Adam Pelech is still out of the lineup due to a head injury, but rather than play Salo, coach Lane Lambert has gone with Parker Wotherspoon. Lambert doesn't seem to be in any rush to reinsert Salo into the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Sitting Friday
Salo will be a healthy scratch Friday against Florida, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Salo has two assists in seven games since rejoining the Islanders' lineup on a regular basis. He was benched in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers. Parker Wotherspoon is in line to make his NHL debut as Salo's replacement.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Assists in consecutive games
Salo produced an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. Salo has earned an assist in each of the last two games. The 24-year-old defenseman is up to four points in nine outings this season, though his presence in the lineup may only last as long as Adam Pelech (upper body) is out.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Up with Islanders
Salo was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Sunday, Stefen Rosner of NYI Hockey Now reports. Salo has been up and down from the minors frequently this season. He hasn't played for the Islanders since Oct. 20, mostly serving as an extra blueliner this year.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Heads back to AHL
Salo was returned to AHL Bridgeport by the Islanders on Wednesday. Salo was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia after being called up on Monday. He has two goals in four games with the Islanders and an assist in two AHL contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Back with Islanders
Salo was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Monday. Salo picked up an assist in Bridgeport's 6-4 win over Springfield on Sunday after he was sent down by the Islanders. He has appeared in four games at the NHL level this year but hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 20 against New Jersey. It is expected that Salo will travel with the team for Tuesday's game at Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Sent down
Salo was loaned to AHL Bridgeport on Sunday. Salo has appeared in four games with the Islanders this season, posting two goals, four PIM, four shots on net and seven blocks. He hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 20 against New Jersey.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Healthy scratch once again
Salo will be a healthy scratch for the 13th straight game Saturday versus the Stars, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Salo is considered one of the top defensive prospects for the Islanders, so it's a bit surprising that he's been stapled to the bench for this long. There seem to be two things at play here. First, Sebastian Aho has played better than expected, earning a nightly spot in the lineup. Additionally, the Islanders don't have another defenseman in their organization that they trust to be the emergency defender, so they don't want to denote Salo to the AHL. Ross Johnston was also a healthy scratch Saturday as Josh Bailey returned to the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Back with Islanders
Salo was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Monday. Salo was briefly sent to the minors and played in Sunday's 1-0 loss to Providence. He was a healthy scratch for five straight games for the Isles prior to being assigned to the AHL on Sunday. Salo is not expected to be in the lineup for Monday's contest against Calgary.... Islanders' Robin Salo: Heads to AHL
Salo was loaned AHL Bridgeport on Sunday. Salo was scratched for five straight games prior to being sent back to the minors. He has two goals in four appearances with the Islanders this year.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Healthy scratch once again
Salo is once again a healthy scratch Thursday versus the Blues. This is the fifth straight game that Salo will be scratched following his recall from Bridgeport of the AHL. Coming into the season, Salo was considered to be the sixth defenseman for the Islanders but was sent down to the AHL due to a roster crunch, as well as the fact that he didn't need to pass through waivers. Salo is considered to be one of the top defensive prospects for the team, and his next chance to play will be Saturday afternoon versus the Red Wings.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: AHL bound
Salo has been sent to AHL Bridgeport on Saturday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Salo was sent down as the team activated Sebastian Aho (upper body) from injured reserve and needed Salo's spot on the roster. Salo scored twice Oct. 15 in a 7-1 win over Anaheim, his first multi-point game in the NHL.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Massive two-goal game
Salo scored twice in Saturday's 7-1 win over Anaheim. It was his first multi-point game. Salo is a great skater who can move the puck, but this outburst was a bit of a surprise. His ceiling is likely as second-unit power-play point man who is protected on the defensive side of the puck.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Will open season with team
Salo has secured a spot on the Islanders as the sixth defenseman, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. This was to be expected, as the Isles had two spots open on defense due to the losses of Zdeno Chara and Andy Greene this past offseason. Salo will provide the Islanders with something they are sorely lacking on defense, which is the ability to skate the puck out of their own zone. Salo's best asset is his skating ability, but how many minutes he plays each game likely depends upon how he handles his defensive responsibilities.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Likely to make the team
Salo is the favorite to be one of the Islanders' top six defensemen to enter the season, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. There were two job openings on the Islanders entering training camp as Zdeno Chara, and Andy Greene are no longer with the team. Salo might be the top defensive prospect for the Islanders, and he did play in 21 games for the team last season. Salo had one goal and five points in those games but failed to impress former head coach Barry Trotz. Salo should have a longer leash under boss Lane Lambert.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Staying on Long Island
Salo signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Islanders on Saturday, per PuckPedia. Salo's new contract is one-way for both seasons, so it appears the 23-year-old is on track to be an NHL regular. He put up five points in 21 contests in his first taste of NHL playing time last year, and Salo could be a factor on the second power-play unit in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Robin Salo: Suiting up Thursday
Salo was promoted from AHL Bridgeport for Thursday's clash with Washington. Salo logged 12:40 of ice time in Tuesday's win over the Capitals. It was his first NHL appearance since Jan. 30. The 23-year-old rookie has four points through 19 career NHL games.... See More ... See Less
